I suddenly see the a slew of rMB 2016 in the refurbished section of the Apple Store. Is the new rMB 2017 about to be released? Perhaps this week or next?

Why would you assume an influx of refurbs would have any bearing on new model releases?

It was supposed to be last week if Apple were following its yearly update schedule for it. But it didn't happen last week or so far this week. That leads me to believe they are pushing it back to June maybe.

and the refurb store is not an indicator of new releases, just a rise in returns.

An indicator would be Apple retailers not restocking or lowering prices in order to get rid of current inventory.

Like for example last year a couple of days before the update Best Buy pulled all of their Macbook inventory. you couldn't buy one or find one for pickup in any bestbuy store.

Since it hasn't happened yet I'm guessing it may be summer, or Apple may skip Kaby Lake the way they skipped Broadwell for the MacBook Pros.

This is so crappy, I need a new Mac, but I'm not going to dump my money on a glitchy gimmicky current MBP, and the new iMacs won't be released until the late his year. So I was hoping Apple would release rMBs soon-ish.

If they skip Kaby lake does anyone know when the Coffee lake processors for the rMB are slated to be released?

12" iPad has an estimated delivery in the middle of May. Carpool Karaoke release is delayed. 12" MacBook 2016 has big promotions at Walmart.

I expect an big Apple event within 2-3 weeks.

I don't know where you get the idea that it is glitchy and gimmicky...

If you NEED as your post suggest buy now, otherwise it is a case of want, then wait (but don't expect ANY product to be glich free)!

I don't see why the 2017 MacBook would be delayed. I don't think there'll be any design difference at all. I reckon the 2017 MacBook updates will be the wide gamut display, butterfly keyboard gen 2, Kaby Lake, possibly a new colour (matte black would be sexy) and MAYBE the rumoured 16GB ram option although I honestly doubt it. If they skip Kaby lake they'd mess up their cycles for no good reason really.

If there are no design changes, no hardware updates other than the keyboard and the processor (and color) it would be a little surprising. Normally after 2 years there is a "second version". That's why a better webcam and 16 GB memory or something similar is likely. On the right there would be space for a Touch ID instead of the normal on-of button. Or a second USB-C connection and a USB-C to 3.5mm Audio connector as option next to bluetooth audio.

I do expect more than just a spec bump now. Next year will be another spec bump. So this year it won't be silent but part of the new iPad Pro launch.

maybe they felt that Kaby lake wasn't enough of a perfomance increased to warrant a bump... they did skip Broadwell with the MBP's so its not unprecedented.

It would be nice if the macbook could be launched together with the ipad 12".

The "slew" has been that way for months now? Doesn't look any different to me.

Simply put, no-one here knows when the 2017 model will be out.

It's definitely going to be the best Carpool Karaoke Apple have ever released. Does the 12" iPad really have estimated delivery in May or does this come from like Huawei Times?

The 12.9" iPad had been showing a 2-3 week delay on the Apple site for the past two months. I ordered one through a rewards website (through work) 1 1/2 weeks ago and it still hasn't shipped.

What's the word on the next gen MacBook being able to support 16GB of RAM? I know there are some rumors around about being able to support that capacity, but are they credible? Having 16GB will cinch the deal on me getting one...

Additionally, how many people have had a MacBook since the original 2015 release and have not had a keyboard reliability issue? The idea of failing keys on a notebook that expensive makes me a bit nervous.

I'd say July. The worst case secnario is septemeber october but no later.

I am sure they will have attempted to fix keyboard problem next release. And i heard that 16gb will be a part of the refresh. Yes its expensive but go configure something with same weight and specs and u moght not see difference maybe macbook could be cheaper too!

I expect that we all expect the next likely month each month.

January: it'll be March!
March: oh, it'll be April!
April: must be WWDC in June then!
June: maaaybe during the September event?
September: now it must be October, for sure!
October: maybe a late November surprise?
November: ok, they skipped it in 2017, has to be March 2018.

I have a 12" (1.3ghz) and both the MBP TB models. The 12 is my main machine and is super. The problem is, the new MBP's screens are now a lot brighter (and better), so it's a tad disconcerting. Of course this is relative, but just saying.

They might want to work on the 12 screen just a little. Mind you, ALL these things are now very good, but there's still comparisons.

The Kaby thing is meh.

This is why I think Apple may just skip this year. Kaby is such a small bump that they figured why not just keep charging full price for the current skylake model with last years tech and specs in it. That is how you amass billions of dollars in reserve cash as a company.

at this point of time, i hope Apple will NOT upgrade the Macbook with kabylake and wait until October to go straight to coffelake to have that TB3 native and probably even a greater battery life
