I love the new trackpad, I have had my Aluminum Macbook for a little over a week and it was weird to get used to at first but once you do its amazing.

As far as the pressure required to press the touchpad down and the noise, if you flip the laptop over and remove the battery cover and battery there is a little screw that you can mess with that will adjust the pressure needed to click down on the trackpad

I just wish I had more time to use OSX, I have to run XP because most of my engineering software requires it.

Sorry to dig up this aging thread, but I thought it'd be relevant. The trackpad noise had been bothering me for months. I bought the Alu Macbook almost right away at launch and didn't find anyone else having the same problem. Being new to laptops, I thought this was the way things were.

However, I finally looked it up again, followed this poster's advice and I now feel as if I have the greatest laptop ever made on planet Earth. It was such a disappointment to feel the rest of the unibody enclosure so solid, but the trackpad so loose. Now everything is solid. The click down is not as difficult nor loud and there is no excruciating tinny metal squishy sound when tapping.

I am so happy. Everything is perfect about this thing. My eyes are really starting to tear up.
