Specific to Netflix on ATV, my biggest gripe is the lack of the "Are you still watching?" feature. The Netflix app doesn't trigger the default sleep timer of the ATV and so when I fall asleep watching a show, I'll wake up in the morning watching 10 episodes ahead of where I fell asleep.

On every device, Netflix has been removing the ability to easily search on your own and forcing everyone to find content through curated lists on the menu. PS4 recently lost the "categories" option.

"My List" and "Continue Watching" are constantly moved around the menu on me. It's not consistent. I find this frustrating.

I enjoy curated lists, but sometimes I want to do more advanced drill-downs. I want to see the entire library. It feels the app is designed to hide the full library so that no user knows if they've gone through everything.

Netflix has never shown the full library to the user, it's all based on what you've watched and what and how you've rated.

Maybe... The Categories feature (still available on iPhone) provides many more options than the curated lists on the menu.

I understand the curated lists are based on user habits, but I am offended if what you say is true regarding the library. I don't want the service deciding whether or not I want to watch a video and then hide it from me because it thinks I wouldn't be interested. I should be given the opportunity somehow for every bit of content they offer.

Search doesn't really cut it at this point, but maybe that's the plan; to move advanced lookups to the search to simplify the UI.

Gotto agree with most of you here. Its really really bad. "My list" and "Continue Watching" move around, you cant browse genre in good way and neither can you select movies based on an actor or a director like on ATV3. Its all focused around the search function. It dont inspire you to browse around trying to find something if you dont know exactly what you plan to see. Stupid as h*ll.

I've cancelled 3 separate subscriptions on the basis of 'User Interface is terrible'. Not that they will take any notice, but that's 3 households gone

i cancelled also, but will be back when i have more time to sit on a couch and do nothing :) My main reason for cancelling is when I do have time to watch I would always get a show where the picture would freeze and the audio continue, and you raise the prices! come on

I have been doing direct comparisons between the Netflix app on my LG TV and the Apple effort and there are notable differences in quality. For whatever reason, HD films show far more compression issues on Apple's device, and I have no idea why. That's directly comparing the same film.

Also the WebOS version hasn't crashed or bugged out once when using it, whereas the same can't be said for the ATVs. There's no excuse for it really.

Seems like I have to take back my complaints about constant lock ups. Looks like my AV1200 Power Line units from TP Link have serious issues with the Qualcomm chipset they are using. I changed to new units based on Broadcom (TL PA9020P, AV2000) and they are much more stable. Speedwise they are not an improvement.

Still, the UI is a complete disaster. I can never find a movie or series I'm looking for, unless you just search. The old UI on ATV2/3 was much better.. or just give me the iPhone UI with categories. The categories I miss the most. I don't want endless lists of "Because you watched" stuff.

Netflix is on the wrong track here. The app for Android TV (Shield TV) is basically the same.

Hell froze over: Netflix has added a Categories menu to the ATV4 version. Also, the pesky bug with the picture freezing while audio kept playing was fixed in some release in late summer or fall.

The only nuisance left now as far as I'm concerned is the "Who is watching Netflix?" screen. This is a bachelor pad! There's just one profile and the Kids section is disabled. Do the math, silly app.

Yeah. If there is only one "profile" then that screen should never be shown.

Yep, Categories is back, the content is terrific (just started Black Mirror S3), the UI is really responsive on the ATV4 (still decent on our old ATV3), I don't even mind the slight price bump, we've been members since 2001, so I've been through all the model shifts, and it's still a bargain for us in terms of entertainment value vs. cost.

When I started using Netflix, I thought I would be able to re-watch old movies.
I never expected to use Netflix for up to date series or movies.
My main problem is the removal of movies that were there for months.
It is much less hassle to look for old DVD's than to be constantly disappointed m
I still use my subscription, but I will probably cancel too.
Maybe it is still different in the US, but I'm in Europe.
The UI is really horrible though.

Happy that categories is there now too. My complaint now is the "are you still watching?" popup that shows in the middle of an episode. Is there a way to turn that off? I wish it would happen after an episode finished but the way it works now, if I'm doing a marathon of shows, it just pauses whenever. Middle of a convo, middle of an action scene.. just annoying.

thanks to this thread and just learned that the Categories is available. now Netflix needs to get rid of the useless art cover on top of the screen.

Frankly, Netflix needs to re-devote itself to licensed content. It's movie library has dwindled and the tv library isn't much better. There aren't enough Netflix originals that interest me. I've signed up for Filmstruck (Hulu is pretty useless for me without Criterion Collection) and may re-start Netflix's BluRay service.
