Are you honestly saying if the next iPhone came out with a larger screen with (virtually) the same foot print you wouldn't want it?
As I've said before several times, I don't want to carry around a device any larger than what I have. I'm not the only person that shares the same mentality - check this thread and the multiple others created about the same subject. The current iPhone size is already pushing it for me. If the device gets any larger without the availability of an "iPhone mini," then I can and will move on to a different handset.

I think they need to do away with the 8GB models. I mean, seriously, it's a joke at this point. In the days before the iPod, people were stuck with CDs and Tapes that couldn't hold much. Then, 8 GB seemed like a lot of space. If you're talking music and maybe a video, it's fine. But nowadays, the iPod has become a multimedia device, and people expect to be able to put a few videos, apps, and other things on, all while keeping their song library. If you're going to get an iPod for just music (which is basically what the 8GB version is), then go with the nano. There's no need to have the capabilities of the Touch and spend more money if you're just going to be listening to the earbuds.

lock landscape mode. i hate it when im lying on my bed viewing websites and the screen keeps shifting from portrait to landscape constantly. having lock portrait and landscape mode would be nice

iOS wishes

Customizable dictionary, wasnt this in one of the 4.0 betas?
Ability to attach a picture within the email app, like with mms
Unlimited app folders. I have 3 game folders, come on
Better notifications. I really like android's, and there's plenty of space in the top bar for a simple badge or something.
Auto check for app updates
Ability to hide apps
Unlimited safari tabs. I think the limit is 8 now
We should be able to send filed to the Mac over wifi
Settings for multitasking ie turning it off, deciding which apps shouldn't multitask, and also a kill all button
Optimization of the YouTube app
Custom text tones and choosing other tones
Do like snow leopard and get out the trash in iOS
(that's all I can think of for now, I'll post again because I'm sure I had more ideas.)
For the iPhone
A notification light, like palm pre! It's invisible and very useful
Louder speakers

op thank you for taking the time to change the title it's 10x less annoying this way :)

I'm happy with my jailbroken iPhone 4 it does everything I need, well maybe hdmi +charging at the same time with one cable :)

I think Apple's made it very clear that they don't think a 4" phone is something they're interested in.

I say it's far more likely we'll see a 7" iPad before we see a 4" iPhone.

I disagree! 3.7 and 4.0 are not that much different! Apps do not have to change, although, it would be nice. It would be more appealing to users. I do think that 4.0 inch is the max that apple may consider. It appears that competitions have gone 4.3 or bigger.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2_1 like Mac OS X; nl-nl) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8C148 Safari/6533.18.5)

I'd like the possibility to copy Calender items

I'm just salivating at the prospect of the next iPhone packing in a 4 inch screen and the Tegra 2 (dual Cortex A9 cpu + nvidia GPU).

Correct me if I'm wrong but most of that stuff is already in the OP. The bolded things are the few things that weren't in the OP, and I have thus added them.

Thanks for the suggestions, keep them coming. :D

There is no way in hell apple would do all of that in next iOS update. We can talk again at iOS 10.

A lot of these are suggestions aimed at trying to convert iOS to Android/BBOS/Symbian/Meego in one fell swoop and consequently are just plain unrealistic.

Not at all. Read what these suggestions actually are. None of them wreck the simplicity that makes the iPhone awesome. All these improvements can be implemented intuitively so that the phone remains simple to use.

Basically, you gain most of the major advantages of Andriod, without gaining the disadvantages.

Would letting you put your 100+ photos into albums really make things harder? No it actually makes it easier to get to the photo you're looking for.

Would revamping the notifications system make things harder, no the revamped notification system is actually simpler and more intuitive to use.

They may not wreck it but lets face it they don't fit into Apple's ethos either. Some suggestions are very much feasible...others simply aren't. Don't get me wrong, i want some of these things but i also know the company i am/have been dealing with for years.

Dual speakers with the ability to emulate 3D surround sound as well as a higher volume level and vibrate level overall (the current max volume and max vibrate are way too low)

Unlikely to happen without a significant redesign that accommodates two speakers AND a microphone...maybe if they switch to microUSB but even then...

HD/FM Radio Tuner

Apple wants all your audio to come from iTunes or for you to buy an iPod that supports radio

3D Screen akin to the Nintendo 3DS (you won't need to wear glasses to see it in 3D). Would enable 3D gaming and 3D movie viewing.

Seriously?

Bigger Camera Lens and possibly a CCD sensor to allow better low light performance...A dedicated camera button. This will let users take photos quickly, and would also allow them to take self portraits with far more ease. It currently takes way too long to snap a quick picture....Xenon flash to improve low light performance of the camera (I was in Miami this weekend and couldn't get a single visible photo after 7pm to save my life)...Even Better Cameras (8MP, 1080P Video etc)

You're basically asking for the Nokia N8's camera which would mean a redesign into a thicker phone to accommodate all these. Also you know how Steve feels about buttons. Bottom line...it ain't gonna happen. Bigger MP camera and 1080p are very feasible though.

Multiple Phone Colors

Reserved for Nanos/shuffles. Then again who knows...

Touch sensitive back for gestures and gaming functions,

A gaming controller AND a touch back?. Touch back is largely unintuitive and it didn't fly with the Moto Backflip either.

IR remote functionality to integrate it with other devices, such as Apple TV and Google TV, play games on your TV and use you iPod/iPhone as a controller, as a trackpad mouse or a 10/Gui Keyboard and such,

Apple Remote app/Airplay/Third party offerings

NFC chip is likely coming but it is still a very new tech...unless you live in Japan

PS I doubt Apple will jump on the Tegra 2 bandwagon but we'll see

Adding a file system would allow us to attach any filetype to emails we are sending out.

There already is a filesystem Apple just hasn't/won't give you access to it

Support in the native iPhone video player for all the codecs that VLC supports

AAC/MP3/MP4/M4R or bust. If iTunes can't play it...fuggedaboutit or download the VLC app

etc etc

iPhone 5 'update' will incorporate:

-CDMA/GSM chip (still not sure 4G would even make the cut)
-Processor speed clocked up to 1GHz or even 900MHz
-Antenna/prox fix
-Available in white
-iOS 5 (expand multitasking APIs, maybe a slight tweak of its UI too (close all button), expand Airplay/Airprint, expand Ping integration, improve Game Centre, increase app/folder allowance and possible first steps towards notifications revamp)
-1 or 2 gimmick features

The End.

People said that getting an FM tuner in an iPod was unlikely to happen as well.

People said that getting the iPod released in colors other than white is unlikely to happen as well.

Hell most everyone claimed that an Apple phone is unlikely to happen as well.

There's a massive massive number of things that people thought were unlikely, that Apple wound up doing.

So how about leaving how likely something is to happen, for Apple to figure out, and instead focus on what you would LIKE to see happen.

I want maybe a few tweaks and tiny bits changed that are just more annoyances and personal wants.

- Ability to add, delete, move and/or modify folders in my Photo Library

- Ability to download files from Safari(or other apps) and store them on the phone in a centralized location. Then be able to access them without Safari on my Mac/PC for easy file sharing/swapping.

- My only cosmetic want would be the ability to change the lockscreen with apps or my own personal themes of some kind.

- More options when it comes to the camera on the phone, it's not something I use all that often but just the ability change ISO or other camera related features would be great. Also would like the zoom to be moved to a button instead of tapping on the screen(gets in the way when trying to use the Auto-Focus).

- More bluetooth features, just being able to send a picture or something to someone of another phone would cut down on that conversation of why my $300 phone can't send you that picture I just took. Yes, I know in Steve Jobs thinks it'd be easier to just email it or whatever but bluetooth is typically faster and not everyone has email setup on their phone or even a smartphone.

- The biggest thing I want is a better notification system, these popups just don't work in my opinion. Have you ever gotten a text right when someone called or while you were trying to hangup? I would rather it not be in my way all the time, and they just aren't good. If you miss a push notification/sms, or just hit okay you won't see it again unless the App puts a badge on the icon(which not all do).

I don't want any of the ridiculous stuff that people are asking for, I love my phone the way it is for the most part. I don't feel as if I need a larger screen or anything. I guess as far as hardware goes I'd say an extra speaker wouldn't hurt that much. I also know that I have a lot of run on sentences, I'm at work and typing fast so pshhh.

THANK YOU
I realize that all of these things at once would be a huge thing, but hey, by reading this, I know what I want. Most of this is realistic and I think they are great ideas

Well we'll see. I hope i'm wrong.

My wants are simple. Revamped notification system and live updating icons. The rest aren't that important to me.

It would be nice to be able to send a file straight to your computer over wifi instead of emailing it, you know? I had a Printopia demo(Because AirPrint was killed :'((( please bring it) and it had the option to 'print' a file to your computer, as if you scanned it.

Off topic, but hey we're both from Kentucky. I don't see too many people from Kentucky around the interwebs.

Thats nice and all but not realistic unless you want to pay your phone 2k $

sorry bud.
