Less than five hours to go.

I still don’t know what game I’m going to play first. It’s either Zelda TOTK, Cyberpunk 2077, or Fire Emblem Engage. I am not really interested in Mario Kart.

Wow crazy,
Not sure where this is, as its a screen grab from facebook, but it seems people were starting to line up at 3:00pm. Not sure a gaming handheld console is worth waiting in line for 18+ hours, but that's me I guess.

I used my Nintendo shop preorder for a friend of mine, as I don't really need one right away. It was delivered today at 11:00am. He was very happy! :)

Got a text at 6:50 a.m. saying it would be here at 7:12 a.m., and it was!

My grandson spent the night here last night, and is gonna FLIP when he wakes up! :)

Nice! Yeah I was surprised to see mine is on its way when I happened to look at 6am— just arrived at 6:30am  What time were they advertising? By 8am or 10am? In any case, pretty impressive!

My original order said by 9 a.m. on release day. I’m thrilled to have it here, so I can stop worrying!

The delivery driver said they were called last night and asked about extra drivers coming in, and coming in a couple hours early for the deliveries. She said she had delivered a good many of those this morning. We’re in a fairly rural area.

Oh that’s great! Yeah it almost reminds me of an iPhone release day. Extra effort to get certain packages to their destinations on time. Glad I didn’t have to watch a UPS truck drive all over for a whole day before it showed up 😂 Invariably I’d see the truck drive into my neighborhood and then leave the neighborhood and go on some other route for hours before finally coming back and delivering it, haha.

Well done, Walmart!

Oh I know. It’s awful! Our UPS and FedEx services have been terrible lately. I was glad they used some independent contractors.

Since it was coming from my store, and it’s only 20 min away in a fairly rural area, we probably didn’t have nearly the amount getting delivered as some stores.

Got mine at GameStop last night. Went straight to bed after I got home haha. This morning tried the transfer, which I failed because I didn’t click done on the Switch 2. I ended up doing the cloud transfer.

Battery life is alright (so far).

Any other Walmart orders arrive with a can of pringles and bottle of coke? (With a note about “free game-ready snacks”) :D Kind of a fun surprise.

How does Zelda TOK run on the conole? Is it a BIG improvement?
Here's a few videos of performance comparisons of Switch 1 games running on Switch 1 vs Switch 2. ...Basically, Switch 2 fixes almost all performance issues that Switch 1 games have! One example is the Korok Forest in BOTW, which had obvious framerate issues on Switch 1 and is totally smooth on Switch 2. And that's the base Switch 1 version of the game, without even buying the "upgrade pack".

If you purchase upgrade packs for BOTW and TOTK, the games will run at 1440p/60FPS instead of 910p/30FPS.

So after staying up until 2:30 a.m. to get this thing pre-ordered, my niece woke up Thursday, went to her local Walmart and bought a dang Switch 2 right off the shelf.

I was in a WalMart yesterday and they had one sitting in the case.

If I hadn’t pre-ordered, I guarantee you there wouldn’t be one in a thousand mile radius.

DLSS is magical. For all the chritisism that nvidia have been getting, DLSS is single handidly making it possible to play and enjoy demanding titles on a sleek handheld.

😂 It does sound like generally they were attainable in person Thursday morning. I am a little surprised there was one on the shelf at your Walmart a day later, though! I took a gander at Costco and Target yesterday and nothing. just a couple miscellaneous accessories at Target.

Nintendo appears to have been relatively successful in avoiding the kinds of shortages Sony and Microsoft have had with their last release. (I hear people say the original Nintendo Switch was difficult to come by for months after release… I don’t remember that. Managed to preorder one then without much effort.)

Can anyone share what type of memory card they’ve gotten? I posted asking about it, but haven’t gotten a response. I’m don’t own any type of gaming console, so I’m just not familiar with what is best - wanna pick one up for my grandson.

MicroSD Express from GameStop. I think I ordered the 256GB model.

Here’s where you can buy microSD Express cards for the Switch 2

It’s tough to mistake Express cards for the standard model. Just look for the “EX” — and the higher price tag.

I plan to get at least a 256 gig card; larger can be hard to find right now, though I think I know of a Walmart with a 512 gig ONN card.

I preordered the Switch 2 from Target, and despite that, it arrived 3 days late! Oh well. Still no regrets, I had a 15% coupon that was somehow eligible on it. I’m a little bummed that I wasn’t able to play with it this weekend, I’ll spend most of today just setting it up.

Didn't get a chance to set it up until yesterday. Setup and transfer process was pretty smooth, even if the time I had to wait for save data to be transferred over was longer than I think it "needed" to be (almost half an hour)... and the main kicker for me was I set up the dock first with all of the cables nicely routed behind my TV stand (the dock sits in a little shelf with not a log of wiggle room), but the system insisted to be in handheld mode for the setup process, and at points during the transfer it insisted on being connected to an AC adapter, and it wouldn't accept USB-C phone chargers that I have sitting around for purposes of getting past this prompt, so I had to yank the cable back out from the dock and awkwardly plug it in to get past those parts.

Anyway, aside from that, it has been working fine. The kids had a blast with Mario Kart World. They actually have a friend over and are playing it right now. I'll dip in myself more once I finish my current game (which I am playing on the Mac, not the Switch).

I managed to snag a Lexar 1TB "Play Pro" microSD Express card from Amazon. It took about a month and a half to arrive but it did arrive in time to have ready for my Switch 2. I really wanted a 1TB card just to not have to worry about space for a while. I downloaded about 350 GB of Switch 1 games overnight and it seems to be working fine so far.

If you need one "now" then the best bet is probably the ONN cards (256 GB or 512 GB) which you might be able to find in stock at a local Walmart. https://www.walmart.com/ip/ONN-MICRO-SD-EXPRESS/15708762625?classType=REGULAR&from=/search (It shows out of stock at my local store but is in stock at one about 25 miles away...)

Yesterday I picked up a 512 gig One MicroSD Express card for $65.77 at the Walmart in Oak Grove, KY.

I had planned to wait it out for prices to come down, but our daughter's Switch 2 filled its internal storage and she had to delete an old game to make room for the updated version of something she wanted to install.

I don't think she has a very extensive game collection, though I've picked up several games for her when 'dirt cheap' on sales. Bottom line - you don't have to be a hard core gamer with an impressive library of games to max. out the internal storage.

With that in mind, 128 gig add-on storage wasn't a consideration, 256 sounded like it'd probably be okay but maybe eventually not, 1 terabyte wasn't available and I've had a few good experiences with Onn (Walmart's in-house electronics brand), so I went for it.

Compare that price to what a 256 gig MicroSD Express card costs elsewhere - like $71.99 for this one just now at Amazon. SanDisk 256GB microSD Express microSD Card - Works with Nintendo Switch™ 2, Up to 880MB/s Read, Up to 650MB/s Write, 210MB/s Sustained Write, U3, C10 - SDSQXFN-256G-GN4NN

versus

Onn microSDXC Express Card, 512 GB
  • Up to 800 MB/s read speed
  • Up to 600 MB/s write speed
I figure SanDisk is a stronger 'name brand,' but double the storage cheaper and I didn't have to wait for arrival 'after Father's Day,' hey...

P.S.: These things are tiny! I see why they're called micro.
