If you don't like the notch, that's your opinion. Heck, I don't like the notch but it virtually disappears and is not noticeable after a while

That's where you're wrong, because the notch, even though disliked By some , it does give the iPhone a very strict style that separates it away from other smart phones and his immediately identifiable that it is an iPhone. Apple knows this and so do others,it's their trademark logo for this new iPhone.
The notch was noticeable on the first day for me but as suspected, don’t care about It now as it just blends away. It’s differwnt and I like it.

It is Apple's size and strength that will give notch a legendary status!
It's a telephone, it never had character or style to begin with. You don't go matching your telephone to the style of jeans you're wearing on any given Sunday...

The front of your phone is like 20% notch.
Only reason the notch is there is because Apple didn't want it to look like an android phone since they're late to the "edge to edge" screen. The drawings of an X without the notch look a lot better. It'll be something that we'll accept or get use to over time if Apple stubbornly leaves it there.
The price and size are what's keeping me from buying an X. I'm not crazy about the viewing angles or the poor performance in the cold. However, I will most likely buy the plus version when it becomes available if only because an iPhone fits into the "system". The iPhone is my favorite device. I am looking forward to the cameras!

Nobody else has a made a top edge to bottom edge screened phone though.
The only way to currently do it is with a notch.
"Edge to Edge" for now means 3 sides. Apple wanted to be different and it looks bad. Doubt Steve would have let this fly but then again we probably wouldn't have a plus sized phone either. I wonder what would have happened and what Apple's product lineup would look like if he had embraced medical treatment sooner. Boy I miss his presentations!
It's your opinion so that's cool. I like the notch and think it looks futuristic.

*Shrug* I like the notch. It also has not only functionality hidden inside it, but in terms of usage - it defines swiping areas. Also means the status icons are up and out of the way in the horns.
Honestly, the notch seems to really only be an issue for those on MR or social media who need to harp on X, be because they are loyal to their 6/7/8, or Android, or whatever. I have yet to have one person in real life make any comment about the notch on my X. Two of my colleagues, one who has a Pixel 2 (well, has had three of them as she has had some issues!) and one who has a Note 8 handled my naked X (over soft carpet ha ha) and just exclaimed over how nice the X design was, and how nice the screen looked. Not a single comment about the notch.
Most “regular” people just do not give a damn. They are just like “so that is the X, cool” and move on. Even my husband who can be picky about design did not comment on the notch and is looking at getting an X.

The notch disseapers only when the screen is off or in sleep mode, otherwise it's noticeable when using the phone.And in the meantime, many of us will enjoy the iPhone X
