Ottawa can still miss but the thrashing they gave the leafs helped stave that chance. Vancouver is out. Nashville in. The West is set, but the order is not.
Out East there is much more doubt. If the Canes, Caps, Bruins, & Flyers all won out their 1 or 2 games and Ottawa lost their final, they'd be out. Too many scenarios. Head is going to explode. Must watch games to find out.
It's really coming down to the wire in the East. Forget the Wild West.... it's the Wild East.
Ottawa plays Boston in Ottawa tonight. Hopefully the B's can take care of business. I wonder if Gerber or Emery will start? Even though he is a headcase, my guess is Emery, especially since they played Gerber last night. Emery's been their star in the playoffs for the last couple of seasons, and this would be a good test to see if he can carry them again. But, maybe they won't want to risk it. I think it would be a bigger risk making the playoffs with Gerber and having him start. He just hasn't proven to be a starting goalie.
Hopefully they lose tonight and that won't matter at all.
I'd like to see the Caps make it in. That would be quite impressive- going from 14th in the Conference at game #41 to making the playoffs. Good on their coach for rallying this team.
Weird how the 'Canes have played so well ever since Brind'Amour when down with an injury, eh? Staal and the boys have had to step up and lead.
I've always hated the Flyers, being from Toronto and all, but I hate Ottawa way more, so Go Flyers! Hopefully they could beat Jersey tonight- is Brodeur starting?
Screw the Canucks. Their management is horrible. How can you get a gift like Luongo and squander him like they have? They put no team around him. It's the usual story for him- he had no supporting cast on the Isle, in Florida, and now in Vancouver. If he had a good team around him, or at least a good defensive system (like Brodeur has had all his career), his stats and his teams would be amazing. How can they expect him to carry the team for the whole season and in the playoffs? Bad planning. It's like how my Leafs have squandered Sundin all these years.
Must be nice to have Forsberg back. I'd like to see the Avs go far in the playoffs this year. It must be exciting to have #s 19 and 21 back together again. That never should have broken up in the first place. Wasted years.
It's weird living out in Los Angeles (I moved here from Toronto in February). All the eastern games start at 4 or 4:30 pm. It makes it impossible for me to watch any of the eastern games. I guess I'm going to have to start following the West a lot more closely. Unfortunately, the Kings are in the basement, so there won't be any hometown hockey for me this post-season. And yes, I have been used to that being from Toronto during the past couple of seasons, but living in Toronto I had CBC Hockey Night in Canada, TSN, and Sportsnet with multiple games on every night of the week, including east then west double headers. Picture in picture was a beautiful thing. So much free hockey to watch.
I may have to get the NHL package for the playoffs.
/Long ramble over.
