No, I just think D'anna will be back :)
Actually, I don't think D'anna is going to be back anytime soon because I believe when I was reading an article in TV Guide about her departure, I think she said she was moving on to other things. I wish she would come back though. She was a big influence on everything.

Am I the only one who thinks that the use of "All Along the Watchtower" has significance? How could the cylons know that song unless...they'd already been to Earth? I think that the cylons reached Earth a long time ago and are waiting to finish off humanity when BSG gets there.

Yeah, you think there would be some significance to it... apart from the fact that the most famous cover of it was by Hendrix, who also knew the location to Earth (Third Stone From the Sun) ;) and the fact that if you change a couple letters in Bob Dylan's last name you get "Bob Cylon"... :p :D

I take it that the music comes from the next signpost to Earth (maybe it relays signals from Earth, or people from Earth have been back there and set a new beacon in the nebula, or something). I think it's that the "final five" are for some reason able to RECEIVE it, not that they already had it in their programming. Or it could be a purely psychic connection they have to Earth.

What I'm wondering is, why are the four of them so sure? The music alone would rate is very weird and worrisome, but not "proof of being a Cylon." They wanted to find some way to doubt the truth, but they couldn't. So I'm thinking some "switch was flipped" inside them, as Tyrol said, and know they have the sudden KNOWLEDGE, in addition to the music, that they are Cylons. Maybe the music even triggered their knowledge, and drew them all together, without that being something they were intended to do by their programming. (The workout room then has no significance except it's where they came together from their various parts of the ship, led by the music not to that location but to each other.) This is further suggested by the fact that when Cylon sleeper agents are triggered, they tend to act on the Cylon side (even if they lapse back to human afterward like Boomer). But these Cylons are fighting it from the very moment they are triggered--which makes me think they have been triggered early, when they weren't yet (if ever) supposed to know what they are.

Their awareness of what they are might not be what the Cylons OR the final five truly want. The signal from/about Earth may have thrown a monkey wrench into some Cylon plans.

Maybe all earthlings are cylons.

Maybe all earthlings are cylons.

It would be really interesting if, rather than Earth being a separated colony / tribe of the children of Kobol, the reverse was true, and the colonies were anciently formed by departed people of Earth. All the symbology still works.

P.S. I kind of want Earth to ultimately side with the Cylons and not the colonists. :D

That's what I expect. Consider this: the scriptures seem to KNOW where the 13th colony went. How? Because the 13th colony was just going BACK to a place humanity had already been before :)

And what I want is for the fleet to locate Earth and then decide to just run away--for fear of leading the Cylons there. I think that would make a nice open ending, and also would avoid having to deal with the question of just what IS going on with Earth at the time of the show. It wouldn't have to be a totally sad ending, because there could also be signs of peace between the Cylons and humans. But if Adama and Roslin aren't SURE what will happen, then they might take no chances and make the hard call to conceal the fact that they found Earth. Even lie to their own people about it! (Plus, if they never quite make it to Earth, maybe Roslin gets to live?)

A bit late in posting this, but below is the cake from our group's BSG finale party. (I certainly wasn't responsible for this!) Oh, and it was really good! :)

:D Those are apple slices, but interesting thought...

Algae I don't know, but seaweed, at least, could have been used in some nice starters... maybe next time. :D

I'll vote for the Cylons because of Lucy Lawless, Tricia Helfer and Grace Park... :D

Wouldn't that make things awkward.

"Hey you're cheating with my girlfriend"
"No i'm not! She's a different 6!"
"I don't believe you!!"

Que: big fight

Thanks for posting the info. Been looking at the game-warden.com site/forum for a while now in anticipation. And I was afraid that the demo would not be available on mac for a while. Take that Savage2.

edit: Yes! I can even play it on my PB  :D

Downloading the latest podcast (The BSG Frak Party) as we speak! It's an hour and fifteen minutes of Q&A with Ron Moore, should be good!

Yep, I'll watch my iTunes eps with podcast commentary over the summer. It's usually pretty interesting--IIRC from the DVDs.

In the other thread about the season-3 finale, LtCarter47 posted a link to composer Bear McCreary's blog, discussing the song he arranged for the finale:
http://www.bearmccreary.com/html/blog/blogmain.htm
(Did you know they put on a live concert of each season's music? Did you know the "duduk" is that mournful instrument you're always hearing? Did you know the "cylon theme" has actual toaster sounds in it? Did you know that some of the chanting is latin translation of the words of the Hybrid or the Kobol scriptures? His past blog entries are pretty interesting too, with many audio files and notation snippets. Not to mention, it looks to me like Macs are being used.)

Anyway, McCreary posted a graphic of the theme he composed for the song:

theme-watchtower.jpg

I don't read music, but I was curious enough to enter those notes into GarageBand (just Command-click on the musical staff view--easy!)

Results attached :) I won't get THOSE 10 minutes back...

Yea.. except its been confirmed Starbuck will return in the next season... that'll be 2008 :-(

OK, forget that file... here's a better GarageBand file. I noticed that GB comes with some radio sound FX, and could not help myself :)

I think I have a ringtone for my future iPhone...
