Hate to nit pick
But they didn't eject the DVD from the Laptop
and then had it again in the Tardis.
I think that they took all 17 of Sally’s DVDs in there with them, and that all the encoded DVDs could act as a trigger to the Tardis. After all, if there was only one in existence then it would be highly improbable that it would end up in Sally’s hands when she finally got into the Tardis. In fact, you could power a spaceship with that level of improbability. ;)

Mind, your comment does throw up another question – why did they risk life and limb going back into that house to watch the DVDs, surely it would be safer and easier just to view them at home?

(did they use handbreak? to rip the Easter egg to the laptop)

otherwise a first class episode

next week
Capt Jack and A Quarry
can't wait

My scary Angel Pic

It wasn't a laptop it was a Portable DVD Player and the man had loads of discs that had the Easter Egg on. Edit: Jaffa beat me there.. and I just thought of an Lolcat caption "I'm in your terdiz messin with your hollagram and dvdz playa!"

My friends and I have been discussing why (and how) the angel gave Sally the key to the TARDIS... Maybe they needed her to open it for them because they couldn't use it in their non-stone state, in which case, how did they manage to get it to her in the first place?

Also, I'm surprised there are so many Martha fans here... Here's a list of reasons I can't stand her (not my list, btw).

*her obvious infatuation with the Doctor (only made better by his oh-so-obvious disinterest in her)

*her fake enthusiasm for all things alien. This is only an attempt to make the Doctor fall for her...and a poor attempt at that.

*the leather jacket...why??

*her pineapple-like hair

*her uselessness in the situations when the Doctor needs her most. [Doctor: 'Rose would know exactly the right thing to say' Martha: '...(silence)....']

*the way she takes every comment the Doctor makes as flattery...get over yourself!

I can't stand her! Apparently any modern companion must have a crush on him if they're female.

Suspense. It's the same reason all parties must break up to explore the big spooky house, or that all must strike out in separate directions when lost in the back woods of Oklahoma.

I had the exact same thought. Why not watch at the video store or home? Why go back to the center of oddities to watch the lifesaving message?

Another question, why are the Weeping Angels so hard to fight? Get enough people that you can always keep someone watching them and move the statues to be looking at each other. Seems a pretty easy race to defeat. How could they get the TARDIS' core though? I thought it was sort of psychic, living, and all-seeing (at least within the TARDIS) wouldn't the Angel's be frozen as soon as they opened up the console? They'd make interesting decorations inside the TARDIS....

Exactly! She didn't have much of a reason to leave him there!
Also, at the end why did they rise up in the middle? Surely that would have broken at least one line of sight?

In the end though, I feel it was one of the best episodes along with The Doctor Dances.
I found out after watching that the same person wrote those! They need to do more so we don't get stuck with Space Rhinos and annoying dialogue.

Irrefutable logic! That made me chuckle. :D

I guess given any amount of time someone always Fracks up their defeat. get them arranged so they can't move and some idiot comes along thinking, "why put all these statues like this?" or "that would look cool in my back yard."

But it does bring up the question, yes, you can't kill a stone, but what happens if you smash the statue?

this photo of mine!

If you have a higher resolution image, I would like a copy to use as my desktop. It is an interesting image.

a bit of a paradox...time as linear cause and effect thing, but more as a wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey thing... :p

There are a number of schools of thought that teach that the linearity of time is an illusion which allows us to comprehend the universe. When we ascend to a higher level of existence, all of time is seen, not as linear, but as existing all at once. A paradox to be sure.

I'm skeptic, to say the least. But the fun is in the imagining, is it not?

That was my thought too. Why not pay for ten builders with sledgehammers to join you at the house? As we all know with builders one would actually do the work whilst the other nine stand, drink tea and watch, so the statues wouldn't be able to move until they were rubble :)

Great episode though. I only saw it last night (you've got to love EyeTV).

I shall have a look. If I can't find it I'll scan the negative and redo it for you.
What size would you like?

Well, I just finished watching "Blink," and I have to say, I thought it was fantastic! I agree that there are some small plot inconsistancies, or plot "wibbily-wobblies," but whatever. I mean, it was 45 minutes of totally engrossing, clever television. I am not a fan of the "Doctor-lite" episode idea, but if they are all like this, written by scribes as talented as Steven Moffat, then sign me up for more!

Though I admit, I did ask myself why they went back to the house to watch the DVDs... :p

Doctor who has been axed.. rumours have been flying around the net saying that Russell T Davis has said he wants to focus on other projects and Doctor who will end at the end of Series 4. This is still a rumour but still :(

Really?! Can you provide a link please, I'd like to read that statement. EVen if RTD wants to focus on other things, does that necessarily mean the show itself has to get axed? Can't it carry on with Phil C or someone? It seems like the stories are getting better, the show is maturing and RTD is such a fan himself - I find it hard to believe Season 4 will be it... If so, too bad. I could see if the comeback really sucked and the show was the calibre of Torchwood  but that definitely isn't the case in my opinion...

I seriously doubt that the BBC would unceremoniously cancel one of their best rating - and receiver of record Audience Appreciation numbers - shows, with multi-country sales, three spin-off shows (count them!) because an executive producer and script writer decides he doesn't want to do it anymore.

For those who say "They did it before", yes, but the "Doctor Who" that was cancelled in 1989 is a far, far cry from the "Doctor Who" of 2007.

This rumour has been swirling for a couple of months. Even if Davies et al want to leave, there's already at least one experienced showrunner and writer working on the series - Steven Moffatt.

If it happens, you can happily point and chant "I told you so" at me. Until then, grain of salt, people.

I concur - I really don't see this happening, so until I read some hard proof...

link

Non reputable sources and somewhat debunked.

"According to UK tabloid The Sun, hit BBC sci-fi program Doctor Who will reportedly end next year after its fourth season. Producer Russell T. Davies has decided to bring the hit sci-fi show to a close — to 'go out at the top' — so he can concentrate on other projects, according to the article. Davies and other senior staff are feeling the strain of the heavy workload imposed by the show, nine months a year of 16-hour days, and plan to resign en-masse in 2008. Davies, a long-time fan of Doctor Who, relaunched the series in 2005, 16 years after the original series was axed.

"Update: 05/31 16:36 GMT by KD : Reader palewook points out that the UK Guardian sets this story straight: "But there isn't any way it would be axed even if [Davies] left. He loves the show and he does feel that maybe it would benefit from some new blood."

At least this is the most I've heard about it.

Thanks for the link - I'll take that with a grain of salt, thank you very much... ;)

It would be a shame to see it end after Season 4 after such a successful return - and wouldn't make much sense to me. Mind you, they did kill Firefly after only a partial season too - mind you that was Fox, not the BBC... :p ;) :D

I hereby vote for 12 more seasons of Doctor Who and Season 2 of Firefly! :D

Hmmm, regarding the rumors of the cancellation after season 4... Maybe RTD has run out of ideas for how to use the Daleks in the season finales...

Not to mention hugely profitable in terms of merchandise. I’d be surprised if this was the case – even if RTD and a few other top brass were to step down, I see no reason why the BBC wouldn’t try to find another team to take over the reins.

I'm waiting for MetaDalek, an enormous creature capable of stomping entire buildings until the Doctor, Martha, Captain Jack and Sally Sparrow use the power of the TARDIS to join into a giant robot and battle it.

You and I may hate it, but it'd sell bucketloads in Japan

You know... That almost sounds like it'd be pretty cool, so long as the Martha arm gets severed... :)
