Apparently the Blue box confused some american's (they thought they were in the UK) and they wanted to sue. So the Dr. wiped the coordinates from the TARDIS' memory:p

Makes sense - those Americans will sue over anything it seems! Plus, they might mistake the police box for an outhouse.

That would require them to set an episode outside of modern-day London though. ;)

Meh, that's not a valid complaint anymore. ;) Only three or four episodes out of 14 last year were your standard "modern-day London" fare. They even use quarries on rare occasions....

What about the Daleks in NYC?

Just what we need, destruction of 10s of acres of the city, killing the people on Wall Street to create financial chaos, or a rogue hacker using Daleks in a new game console.

Well, with the way they've been manipulating the energy markets for profit lately -- maybe killing scores of brokers wouldn't be too bad.

You do know it's not real, don't you? :p

My rule of thumb is, if you are in (Great) Britain, Canada, or Australia, don't download the New Who, because you all have networks in your countries that have committed to broadcasting it. If you are in the States, download it, and tell your friends to watch it, and then write an email to SciFi at: programming@www.scifi.com and tell them you want them to air the new Doctor Who.

I Love Doctor Who! I've been watching it in Canada on the CBC, is it different from the British version?

I wouldn't have thought so (it is primarily aimed at the younger generation and broadcasted at 18:45 BST in the UK which is way before the watershed), I think you answered your own question with the quote included in your post, I'd ask ~Shard~ but I don't think he can wait long enough for it to be broadcasted in Canada ;) so wouldn't know? :D.

Heh heh - yeah, the CBC here is about 6 months or so behind the BBC, but eventually airs the same Doctor Who episodes. I can't wait because I'm an impatient bastard so I ILLEGALLY DOWNLOAD Doctor Who USING TORRENTS every week. :D

I didn't like that one. They've done the moral dilemma bit before. Overall it was too wordy and some of the dialogue seemed deliberately inserted to bring it in line with the series arc.

Hopefully next week will be a return to form.

That'd be SHARING :p

Well I thought this episode was worlds ahead of the last one. Really didn't like the first episode of this series ("super nanny", plot, mistakes (1 million people=1 million adipose?)).

Really got that old Doctor Who tingle from this episode what with the going inside a volcano and the Ecclestone-style moral conflict.

Next episode looks downright ace! How I love the Ood!

Ood are dull. There are much better monsters.

Just trying to get their moneys worth from the costumes =\

on the other hand, it does look interesting.

And on the topic of yesterday's episode, I normally find the historical episodes boring and uninteresting, but that one was pretty good. I especially liked the inside of the Volcano. Reminded me of the Quarries from the olden days :D Now bring back the Daleks using Slave Labour to mine something from the quarries, before catching fire and then being pushed into lakes! Oh and the whole "Stick a blanket underneath it" trick. Wouldn't mind seeing David Tennant riding around inside a Dalek casing :p And a modern Dalek Invasion of Earth - I mean, London - would be cool, too :p Sure, they were in the Series 2 Finale at Torchwood but they never went down to the ground and started shooting random people, rolling around through the city centre and near Big Ben :p

And the CGI looked very good. You can tell the budgets gone up a bit :p

In the other series, the CGI was more... Runescape-ey (As in, not as good :p) but it was very good yesterday. Loved the volcano erupting. Just thought the guy at the end saying "It's erupting... like a volcano" was a bit cheesy.

Last night's wasn't too bad, it got off to a bit of a slow start but picked up a bit towards the end.

One thing though (I'll say this in spoiler-proof white text)...

It was mentioned that the alien bad guys had come to Earth after their home world had been lost – which is pretty much the reason the Adipose were here in last week's episode. So, it appears that planets are disappearing/being destroyed... could this be part of the series story arc? I can imagine that - as part of the finale – Earth will be about to suffer the same fate as these alien worlds, resulting in the Doctor having an epic, planet saving two-part adventure in modern day London. ;)

jaffacake, that had occurred to me as well :)

More white text...

I was wondering who the culprits were, and whether it could be linked to the reappearance of Rose. Some sort of breaking down between the realities resulting in the planets disappearing into the other universe perhaps? If so, why is it happening at such wildly different times? The creatures from yesterday's ep had been on Earth since 4000BC according to the script, yet the Adipose planet had only recently been lost in the modern day.

I'll reply to your white text in some more of my own... ;)

Yeah, the Void/alternative worlds thing occurred to me too... it would be an explanation for how Rose has been able to travel back, and also how Cybermen would be able to cross over too (there were pictures in some of the tabloid press this weekend of Cybermen on set, apparently currently being filmed for this year's Christmas special). Also, the Daleks look set to return at some point this series – if the teaser trailers are to believed – and where is there a big army of them floating about? In the Void.

The fact that these planets are disappearing at different periods in history is a bit of a headscratcher, but then again don't forget that time isn't linear, it's more like wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey stuff.
:p

And another thing that did occur to me, which links in to another one of the "old series" enemies returning...

Could it be that with the Time Lords gone the Sontarans are now able to travel between the universes? Although they never developed time travel they were supposed to have an extremely advanced level of technology. Or do you think in their experiments they could punch through to The Void and accidentally bring back the Daleks, with the link to the "Pete's alive!!" universe being restored as a result?

I don't think what happened to the Sontarans after their defeat on Gallifrey was ever really followed up on. Is their hundred million strong battle fleet still out there somewhere? Will it be strong enough to counter the emerging Dalek threat if the Doctor can get them onside?

Hmm...
I don't know about the Sontarans being behind this... they may be advanced technologically but I think interdimensional travel is a bit beyond them.

Another recurring theme actually – Medusa. There's been references to the 'Medusa Cascade', in last night's episode and by the Master at the end of the last series (there was a rift of some description there that the doctor 'sealed single-handedly'. The fact that the villains in last night's episode were turning their victim into stone also ties in...

Get a white text room, willya?
Okay. :)
