I got:

Avenged Sevenfold Tee
Call of Duty 2 (X360)
Tony Hawks American Wasteland (X360)
$150 Total
Powerbook G4 1.67 (which i am currently typing on)

So, its been a great christmas for me. =)

my wife gave me a couple of books on einstein (one by him and one about him)
a neighbor gave us a food wrapping machine
a friend gave us a subscription to macworld
homemade fruitcake from friends
and some people gave us cash

we baked cookies for some, got a key wallet, scented storm candle, some nice french stationery, a jewelry book, and a cookbook for people and i got a robot kit and a keith jarrett dvd for my wife

overall it was a quiet christmas and now we have to go out to a dinner buffet soon

......

and since this is a mac site, i would have liked to have bought, if i had the available funds, a mac mini for my dad who is either going to get that or a sony desktop and is stuck at that point...he doesn't really know how much better a mac would be for him doing home video editing and how much easier it would be...of course, i would go for the dvd burner model of the mini mac

he has an ok pc desktop with windows 98 SE, which i keep optimized for him, and he likes windows xp from what he has seen because of its streamlined look but it's different enough from windows 98 that he would have to relearn a few things

...if he's going to start over learning an operating system, i think he will do fine with os x and also, that streamlined look of windows xp, which is much nicer than windows 98, is basically borrowed from the look and feel of os x...if he saw os x and windows xp side by side he would see that os x is simpler and that also, microsoft has not changed their idea stealing ways ;)

windows xp is so prevalent that spammers and virus writers get in the news worldwide when they engage a successful attack, but nobody gets any attention if they screw up os x since we are only 2% percent of the home computing population and thus not such an attractive target...this is something he seems to be concerned about so that may tip him in the way of the mac

I received White Stripes - Get Behind Me Satan CD, A Peanuts Calendar, Battlestar Galactica Season 1 DVD set, socks, three Snoopy shirts, Top Secret DVD, a wallet, a book reading clip-on light, Serenity DVD, Star Wars III DVD, some chocolate, a set of jams, M.I.A - Arular CD, Brand New - Deja Entendu CD, War of the Worlds DVD, a mug and finally The Life and Times of $crooge McDuck comic book.

This was also a good christmas for me:

- Wax & Brushes as well for waxing
- new battery for my PowerBook
- iFM
- Some posters for my apartment
- "Bushisms V" Book
- Groove Cube from Smalldog Electronics

My birthday is Jan. 5th so I still have some more stuff coming, but usually not much, but I don't mind, my family does a great job of shopping for me.

I ordered my 5G iPod a few weeks ago, once my wife approved the purchase. My birthday was on the Feast Day of St Nicholas, so this is a combined gift. Of course, my mom and my brothers always give some cool stuff, so I can't wait for that!

OK addition for Christmas Day gifts:

My six year old son gave me an ice scraper for my car that has a kind of glove your hand goes in. He's a great shopper already.

Mom gave me a new Peterson's Field Guide and a pair of Levi's. Mom always has to buy clothes.

Brother 1 gave me $50...cash is always good. Now if I can hold on to it for a few days!

Brother 2 gave me a black long sleeve t-shirt with a white Apple logo on the pocket. I think he got it from the Missing Bite.

Now I'm going to put on my new blue jeans and black tshirt and play Steve. Not much of a fantasy for my wife, but what the heck!?!

Well I bought my self an early christmas present about 3 weeks ago, a Wacom Intuos3 6x11 wide format tablet :D .

Is the wide format anything better for the wide screens? I mean, my intuos 3 is about 1.5 years old...is it worth selling and upgrading??

We decided that this would be an expensive Christmas. We do this every few years. That means everyone gets :) thousand-dollar gifts...and most everyone gives :( thousand-dollar gifts.

But the best gift, after spending 7 months overseas on a business assignment, was meeting my 7-month old nephew for the first time. Some things are priceless...and totally adorable.

Amen to that. :)

From extended family, I got $140 in cash and gift cards (yay, no cheques! I can go shopping tomorrow even though it's a bank holiday!). I also got a songbook with 200 songs arranged for piano/guitar, and some cheap poker chips and cards (I'm far more interested in the wood box than the chips).

From the 'rents, I got soap, dental floss, candy, and fruit in my stocking. Under the tree, I had a 14x loupe, a pair of brown dress shoes, a pair of jeans, a nice analogue wristwatch, and the 70th anniversary Monopoly set. My sister got me a photo mug with a picture of the two of us so people can ask stupid questions like "is that your girlfriend?" when I drink from it away at university.

From a white elephant gift exchange, I got a fifth of excellent bourbon and some double-shot glasses.

I'm actually OK with receiving cash for Christmas, as long as I get some other actual gifts as well. I used to basically get only cash because I never could think up enough things for people to get me when the time came. Now I keep a list year-round.

I think tomorrow I'll go blow all my cash and gift cards. Definitely new carpet for my room, probably some other stuff from my list, like a Zippo, or a driving cap.

Okay, final report.
Christmas Eve Yankee swap:
ended up with a bottle of Johnny Walker Red, but traded with my father for the 512MB thumb drive I had brought (and wanted)
Christmas morning:
New tux shirt (this one should fit, and it has real studs!)
$25 to Border's
Jeans/shirt/turtleneck?
aforementioned iPod
aforementioned MIA ski boots
bunch of CDs from my brother and his fiancée (Miles Davis: Birth of the Cool, 'Round About Midnight; Dave Brubeck Quartet: Time Out; a bunch of burned CDs (Macross Plus OST 1+2; Ghost in The Shell: Megattech Body 1+2; Marvin Gaye: What's Going On; Induce: Cycle; and an arrangement of the Chrono Trigger music, called Brink of Time)).
Christmas afternoon/evening:
$20 to Border's
$25? to B&N
A "Lump of Coal" (actually a few small pieces  )
a $50 check from my "grandmother" (it was from my parents' account), because I had completely forgotten to pick something for her to get. Whoops
For today's yankee swap, I first picked a down throw, which I traded for the "Don't Call Me Shirley" Edition Airplane! Unfortunately, a cousin of mine later picked up some body scrub. He then switched with me  What gay man wouldn't want to smell like white chocolate and oranges? Luckily, my aunt who had gone first (and who I stole the DVD from) had ended up with a tea light set that my mother had brought. She took my body scrub (yay!) and I ended up switching again with my mother, who had gotten a MENSA day by day calendar. It worked out well for us, because she would have bought the same set for herself anyway. :)
