Apps dont need to be totally rewritten to take advantage of M1 chips. In many cases all thats required is recompilation, though any developer will know the sort of complications that can be involved beyond those best case scenarios.

- Apple batteries usually are made to higher quality standards and tend to have a longer lifespan compared to the competition
- Its utter nonsense that Apple batteries will deplete faster. Where that BS coming from
- Batteries are not difficult do replace on the new MBPs (14/16). Check ifixit for more info

I just told you there are numerous real world tests that show how faster these machines are compared to anything out there. Benchmarks are a small part of it. People are opening their Xcode projects, video projects, 3D projects and just showing how faster these machines render and compile and just generally run things. No one cares about benchmarks, these computers scream in real world scenarios. And you based this entire thread on an error in a YT video…. About games which aren’t even what these computers are for.
These Macs left Intel and PC laptops in the dust and I guess it’s hard to swallow for some….
Not a pain, I swapped a battery in an Apple authorized repair, they ordered it from Apple and when it arrived, they swapped it in a few hours. No pain at all. I am not going to remove strips or detach cables, I’m not a student any more, I do professional work on my Mac. If something is wrong with it, I’ll bring it in for repair and let people who are experts take a look - and I can even get a replacement Mac if the repair is longer than a day or two.
And, btw, the laptop I had the battery replaced was my wife’s Mac after 6 years of solid battery life.
So. How long are we going to be here and make stuff up? If you prefer Windows laptops, go and get one, by all means. But this attempt to present these computers as overpriced, underpowered or whatever - that’s just silly. These are, currently, some of the best laptops on the market. If not the best.
Xcode is the only way to make Apple app and Apple stuff, this is very important for Apple to make sure then of course it is tuned for M1. Some video editing apps have good amount of masoc users then it makes sense they tuned for M1.
But these are not for general users. General users are still lab white mice.
What apps do "general users" use that these laptops don't perform well in?
General users want something responsive, built well, with a good screen and great battery life. Guess what? These give all of that. If you have a specific PC app that you need you buy a PC, if you don't and like MacOS these are great options. Plenty of general users will purchase these and be incredibly happy with them as they represent a significant jump forward for laptop usability and performance in real world applications.
You and ASX need to find a new hobby. Waiting for the incoming, but but Mac bad at gaming, Mac expensive, Mac doesn't beat my 3090 desktop rig, Mac for lab mice comments ?

Today i have seen many Intel Alderlake reviews. This 12900K reaches 27000 points in cinebench R23. M1 Max only 11XXX points. Even when this 12900K + Z690 DDR5 Mainboard + 32 GB DDR5 Ram costs 1400 Euro i feel it's a good deal compared with Apple macbook pro. I would be a much better feeling for me when Apple would offering fair prices. I think 1500 Euro would be a justified price for the M1 Max base model. For me this mbp is only a gimmick. Haven't touched it since yesterday. I used it 20-30 minutes maybe. Now it's boring. It's all the same with this gimmick electronics (ipad, iphone and macbook mostly not used). My desktop is much more intersting. Because it's really delivering state of the art performance and visuals.

I happen to find the ratio between power useage and performance to be much more interesting. And so I love the apple silicon era. I even find myself thinking back to early experiences with the Acorn Archimedes, featuring an architecture that hinted at RISCs potential, but rather lacking in oodles of interesting software. Its nice to see that stuff come of age.
For me it's all about performance and noise levels. So i'm using only Noctua fans for my system (expect the 3090 FE 
, but in idle the fans are gladly off) which are well tuned for silence at idle.
I really like about this mbp it's completly silent at idle but at the cost of compatibility.

Your 10900K 14 nm is far away from efficient . For 7 nm tsmc Ryzen 9 i need no custom loop. Also because the chiplets have bad heat transfer, so it makes no sense to use a water cooling with a big radiator. The arm processor which is based on 5 nm tsmc process, is of course much more power efficient than a desktop cpu. But it has very limited use cases and a huge incompatibility.

Because the Mac isn't a game console. If you're buying one primarily as a gaming device.... you're making an expensive mistake.
Oh and yeah, Maxtech.... lol.
The clue about a pc is, it's universal and even for special, niche macbook use cases not slower or much slower.

Yep, because the soc is only good for niche scenarios. No surprise. If apple want compete with pcs, they have to use AMD/Intel cpus and AMD/Intel/Nvidia gpus. Also they need to pay the software companys for compability.

I have explained the M1 problems and cannot stop you want to be Apple lab white mice.
Its tough out here for us MBP owners. So much battery life and such a bright great looking screen. I don't know how we will survive these dark days. Thank you for illuminating our hardship.
You cannot even open many tabs and have all kinds of bugs since almost nothing is well rewritten for M1, enjoy your lab life.
I mean yeah I opened like 60 tabs of YouTube yesterday it didn't even slow down! What am I going to do? I don't even have anything to complain about to people on a forum that don't care. This machine is bringing nothing but pain. Hopefully soon I can find some fatal flaw with it or otherwise I might just have to *gasp* be happy with it!
