I think i have to buy 32 gb model to get rid of this problem. Sadly it's not in stock here. Only 16 gb ram with 1 tb ssd.
Apple compared this M1 Max with RTX 3080 mobile within their keynote. So this comparison is more than legit. I didn't know that this M1 Max is slower than a crappy AMD 5600M gpu of macbook pro 2019.
I noticed that M1 Pro is slow. I connected mine today to a 34GP950G ultra wide screen and opened a lot of tabs in Chrome and Safari. Damn it's slowing down very hard when a lot tabs are open. My 5900X desktop and 11800h laptop are worlds faster.
I did only web browsing with several tabs, around 20 - 30. I was enough to slow down the system massively. It's a joke for so much money. The ram usage was at 12 - 13 gigabytes. I saw a video on youtube. A user was complaining about this problem. So i tested it. I thought this cant be true. But sadly it is.
Its a constant "benchmark" tool that people use. I even heard people complain about 60 tabs. How can anyone function with 20 tabs, let alone 60 is crazy.Just replicated that on my M1 with 16 GB memory, no slowdowns at all, and I'm using the (less optimized) Chromium, not Safari because it is "optimized Apple Software" which "don't count".

By the way, you can really browsing like this? I tried 20 tabs and I cannot se anything on the naviagor.

Take a look at how horrible chromium is spamming the process list and how low the CPU utilization actually is. Should a normal system slow down because of this? I don't think so. There might be hardware fault of either your system, or some of you eshop tabs are actually doing something evil like mining using your computer.
A $4000 range laptop cannot even do this simple thing, that is what I was talking about, people buy new Pro only to show off .
You are a troll. Why aren't you hanging out on a intel or PC forum where the crowd would be more accommodating to that nonsense?Only because i writing something bad about apple macs im no troll. Sorry im used to faster systems, so i ask here how that could have happened on such an expensive product.
I opened several youtube tabs and several web shops which i found on a price comparison site.
@pshufd
I put this macbook already back into the box and then into the parcel, because of scratches and of course the other problems which i mentioned above. Maybe im ordering m1 max when its avaialbe to look for it's performance.
Well, so you are going to buy 4000$ macbook to run emulated windows, with emulated games, and complain about performance?
Just buy console or PC for games.
Did you actually read what I wrote?
I have never emulated windows or have a need to run windows programs. I am an AI/ML researcher, so I do need to VM Linux quite often.
And I have not mentioned games once on this forum, and haven't really played games in adulthood.
Maybe you should graduate from 6th grade reading level before replying on this forums?
That's not good enough. You need to provide the specific URLs.
If it is a common problem happening to almost every web page, it shouldn't be hard to come up with 20-30 URLs which you can consistently reproduce the slowness.
Same thing. If you need software that a machine can't run, don't get the machine or get two machines. Or even three.
Really, really simple. Even for an AI/ML researcher.
What do you mean.
In my original post I explicitly said that whatever MaxTech guys did in terms of bench marks showing the intel machines ahead is invalid, because they did not do any in depth analysis on these issues. Real technical reviews need careful analysis on loads on various compute units within the processor cores, looking at effect on SIMD specific code have on compute throughput, memory tiling on cache latency analysis, pressures on the L/SU during memory disambiguation, and many many more. If you want to see a good review on actual performance, although it is still fairly barebones, but sufficient for our discussions here, you can see this:
And apparently you also did not read or understand what I wrote (and you probably didn't even bother to read what I wrote, and just based your reply on Juraj22's lunatic rant), in which I said that whatever benchmarks they are showing M1 Max behind is very suspect. And personally my 14" with M1 Max and 64GB currently does everything that I need, with headroom to spare. So I have no idea what are you even replying to ....
My reply is to your reply. Not an old reply or post.
Because it’s quick and easy shorthand for “APPLE LIIIIIIIIIED!” And, those videos drive a great deal of engagement on YouTube which is what it’s all about. Not being “well researched”, but “how can I get a ton of people to watch my video thus getting me paid.”Why is everyone insisting on checking games on these machines!
So basically you have no idea what I originally wrote, or the context of what my response to Juraj22 is.
I have never complained the 14" M1 Max that I have is inadaquate, quite the opposite, I have said in this forum that it's all I can ask for and more.
So basically Juraj22 either didn't bother to carefully read what I originally wrote in this thread, and made up a bunch of stuff that he thinks that I somehow was espousing, which was almost exactly the opposite of what I was arguing for. And you basically had no idea about the rest of the conversation, and just assumed something about what I originally wrote, and then replied a bunch of stuff that are completely irrelevant to what I was writing about.
These forums really need to clean up some of the lunatics and invalids roaming around.

The good thing is, it’s an easy way to tell who’s very clearly posting primarily for views. And, you can ignore those in the future!
No. I just reply to the last post unless I have other context.

The people running the tests and posting the videos aren’t here on MacRumors. As to why anyone would want to do a YouTuber’s marketing work for them for free? I don’t know. I know a lot of YouTubers tell their viewers to “like, share, comment and subscribe” or something like that. Maybe this is part of the “share”?What is the purpose of acquiring views? I understand YouTube where you can get paid for them but I am unaware of any such scheme at this site.
Even LOL, CSGO don’t have M1 native version? I thought it should exist, M1 has been out like a year.
