The video shows the practical gaming fps
I don’t know how can you accept that but I cannot. There is no way to call it Max when the old version gaming fps is 300% of it. I doubt M2 Max or even M3 Max can catch it up after like 3, 4years. You deserve much better this if you bought the Max.
Wow .. what a troll thread. They just tranposed the label on the carts. If you hear the words the M1max is the one that is faster. Can’t believe it took this many pages of needless arguments.

Mac as gaming platform is dead. Super duper dead. No chance of revival. Give up.
Geforce Now rtx 3080 and Google stadia: Am I a joke to you?
joking aside, no one in the right state of mind want to use Macbooks primarily for gaming.

There is nothing to back up your statement. It's utterly false. Every reviewer and every test has placed the M1 Max GPU in the ballpark of desktop GPUs like the 6700 XT or RTX 2060. It does indeed beat the mobile 3070/3080 in some apps.
This is a Pretty wide ballpark considering an RTX 2060 is slower than an RX 6600 in many cases.

Even very casual gaming does not work much. Super old LOL just 70 fps. Basically no gaming for MacBook users.

I've owned tons of Macs over the years (typing on a M1 Air right now.) Never bought a single one of them for gaming. Who has time for that anyway?

Another comparison but this time with a decked out 3080 GPU to the 16 inch 32 core MacBook Pro Max.
I like tomb raider and we’ll play it even though there’s not enough gaming on the MacBook Pro Max and I knew that from the get-go. Still this is impressive for the Mac.

Lol. The 3080 165 watt is nearly double as fast as the m1 max, even without dlss. Who cares about playing mobile without power supply?

Nobody does it. Apple said the M1 Max is fast as 3080 mobile. Oh hold on, it was only the capped, crappy 100 watt version. Remember the best laptop Apple could find. A trillion dollar company who is not able to find the best 3080 laptop :D.

The display of the Lenovo looks nice. Maybe i buy it. It costs only 2799 Euro and is repairable and upgradeable. The M1 Max cost 3849 Euros and nothing is repairable and upgradeable by yourself (ok, maybe the battery).

Lol. It's been said a few times in this thread. OP just ignores them. Troll 101. Ignore the facts.

The point is last model is much better
A screwdriver is also, always, no matter how "new" of a model or "old" of a model, going to be much better at driving screws than a hammer.

Do you also complain that the "last model" screwdriver is much better than a new hammer?

This is misleading.

The games run using rosetta2, and in the intel they run at machine code level. The games are not optimized for the M1 chip. Of course they run 300% faster.

Either way, reviewers should just say Mac is not a gaming platform from this point on instead of running unhelpful tests.

Did you never think about this M1 is a stripped down chip for apple app purposes? A gpu from AMD/Nvidia is built for every graphical scenario.
Both Nvidia and AMD have both a gaming line of GPUs and professional one. Each have differing strengths, the Pro ones are far more expensive and do not game nearly as well, but have much greater accuracy. The Quadro RTX 8000 48gb is £11,800 and is not for gaming!

Why are you using browser tabs as a benchmark tool? As I said before, this is not 1990s anymore. Websites can be far more demanding that even some professional software. If its heavy on Javascript, Ads, Video content and other things on the page. And the same page CANNOT be used for comparison depending on what ad shows up.
Please don't feed the the ASX troll

I’m still searching anything where apple says the MacBook Pro is built for gaming…. I never understand why everyone seems to be jumping on the M Pro/Max chips are sh** for gaming bandwagon when apple have never intended these machines for gaming…. Confused ?

Lots of confusion and misunderstanding to go around (and maybe even a touch of elitism).

IMO:

- Yes, any time you put out a new notebook that speaks of having a GPU comparable to one or more "gaming-oriented" existing GPUs on the market, you're essentially selling something that some people want to try running games on.
- I'm confused by the claim in this original post, in the sense it seems to me most tests done were clearly showing M1 Max as fairly comparable to the mobile RTX3060 at the least, and equal to an RTX3070 or even some RTX3080's in some programs. Given the FAR lower power usage of an M1 Max vs anything else portable using RTX GPUs, I'd say that's a pretty big win on the Apple side?
- Nobody's trying to argue you should buy a Macbook Pro of ANY type as a "gaming machine". Just the fact there are so few native Mac OS titles on the market should make it clear that it's not your best choice for that. The thing is though? A lot of long-time Mac users are people who don't "game" enough to cost-justify owning a whole separate $1500-3000 Windows gaming laptop just to do it. They want the Mac for the work they do and the preference of MacOS for day to day usage, BUT they'd love to have one that can run some modern 3D game titles at respectable speeds, to give them that option. (Even if you're like me? I was *able* to come up with the money for a dedicated gaming laptop and bought one. But I'd still prefer to have one portable that can cover ALL my needs.)
- Are people forgetting that right now, you can only run Windows titles inside a virtual environment on the M1 series Mac? That's obviously going to cause overhead that slows down your graphics performance, and even overall app performance. I think you'll need to see how native ports to Mac OS of game titles run on one vs the Windows equivalent to make a fair comparison.

Noob question - why are the new MBP's desktop class in certain graphics intensive processes but not gaming? what makes them poor gaming machines / what are they missing?

Bad x86 compatibility. Only cheap arm soc for Apple based apps. I my opinion M1 Pro would be fine for ios, but for a macbook there is too much sacrifice.

M1 Pro or Max may be good in benchmark performance, but lack of M1 native apps or games then in real world it is not fast at all for most cases. Just like playing LOL is just 70 fps, even $199 Chromebook can be better.

I would definitely buy an Alderlake laptop with RTX 3080 165 watt 16 gb vram and a 2600 dimming zone hdr 1000 - 1600 nits panel more than this one.

But for this specs you have to wait 0.5 - 1 year or more :D. Especially the displays for windows laptops are only at 576 dimming zones on a 3840 x 2160 17" inch 120 hz screen. This laptops will be released soon. But only with Icelake cpus :(.

I thought about the stuttering in games on MBP 2021. Maybe its from pro motion. Its also stuttering when scrolling web pages.

I really dont know why normal Apple users accept it. Are they so deep in finalcut and other apple apps that nothing else matters?

I dont understand what the magic about mac os is. Windows 11 is running much better than this mac os. Also its far easier to use and has more functions. I was a real pain to use mac os on the m1 mac, especially the delays and the not very logical functions, buttons and screwed colors on my external ips display. But i forced me to use it for a half day. I was glad when i was back on my snappy windows 11. The last Windows most mac users have seen is really windows vista or xp? They are complaining about crashing and blue screens. Haven't seen any bluescreen since windows 10. M1 macs are crashing a lot as i heared.

Some people just need the coolest Apple logo in some public places like Cafe.
