LOL. Guess what people, Apple still sells laptops if you need laptop functionalities.

The iPad Pro is called an iPad for a reason. It's not a Macpad. It is an iPad first and foremost, and considering there are a lot of people being productive on the 9.7" iPads since the iPad 2, the iPad Pro is simply a catalyst for developer to one up their game in app development by developing even more powerful apps for iOS. It is, and will not be, a Mac.

The thing it is missing? It is still a slave to another computer. I still need a laptop or desktop to be my center for iTunes.

If I could sync/backup/restore my idevices (phones, iPads, iPods) to a drive through the iPad pro then and only then could I consider it an alternative to a laptop or a surface. As it is, all that it can be is a big iPad and I still need a real computer

at least you understand that the ipad pro ins't a notebook replacement, was getting old with all the comparisons. However, is wifi syncing not an option for you?!

Exactly, dont have a whinge, just get the right tool for the job. If you absolutely need the clutter and have to use windows go with the surface or some other device, but if you prefer the power of iOS and can leave the old outdated ways behind then go with iPad.

"The power of iOS" vs "absolutely need the clutter" and "old, outdated ways"? No spin on that post.

How about multi monitor support? Make it have to be a touch screen, obviously. Apple could even sell their own solutions for it that only work with some proprietary iPad Pro software thing.

I don't mean with the iPad as the second screen, obviously, but as the primary.

Or is this already a thing?

Agree with pika2000...
But the GiPad is missing from my hands... I want it yesterday. ;)
What's really missing actually, are more complaints about this device... (that no one here HAS to buy if they don't want to.) Come on people, be happy and get the iPad Pro or stop complaining and just don't get it. It... is... really... that... simple. ;)

Kal.

What is it missing? A great price, the one you can get on an iPad Air 2 currently and it would last for years.

I knew this but needed to hear it as I'm trying to decide between replacing my iPad or iMac this fall. Now, I leaning towards replacing the iMac as its a little older than the iPad and I depend, more heavily, on it. The iPad is more of a convenience. Anyway thanks for posting this timely observation:)

Apple's pretty heavily invested in the Lightning ecosystem for iDevice accessories. I wouldn't expect that they would abandon that for USB-C this quickly.

It's interesting, though, because Apple is a member of the USB implementers forum, and the USB-C connector was introduced only shortly behind the Lightning connector, Apple must have known about it. Rumors are that Apple had a lot to do with the ship of the connector, including the fact that the USB-C connector is reversible.

I agree. I believe it's Apple is using the lightning cable instead of USB. To make more profits off the accessories. I do use a IDrive to connect USB to lightning for flash storage. I think it would of been great if the had switched to USB C. That option is the future.

I hope Apple introduces a leather smart case like they've done for other iPads. That's all I would need.
