The 1st Generation iPhone, the pinnacle of what can be hacked to such degree. Also, the black Aluminum case, unmatched, not even the iPhone 4's design can touch it.

I truly love the design on the 1st Gen. Mine still rocks, however it is used as an iPod now.

iPhone came out in 2007... just noticing that one of those is a mic...
Can I get a facepalm.jpg, please! RAmen.

Here you are: :)

I completely agree. The original iPhone is beatiful. Aluminum is king!

It's nice but upkeep was hard

That's true. It did scratch, and the scratches were much more noticeable than on the the plastic ones. But I think about it as a black car. When it's dirty it looks REAL dirty, but when it's clean it's beautiful.

You NEED to have a silicon or rubber case/slip cover for the 2g iPhone to preserve the smooth aluminum. It's also easier to grip with a rubber case/slip cover.

I also like that the 2g iPhone is the easiest to unlock and jailbreak. Just restore in iTunes, open up redsn0w, the rest is history.

The only thing that sucks is that all the REALLY COOL apps (for apple's app store and cydia) are for 4.x only) I really want a package called "dimmer" from big boss (you can make the backlight darker for use in the dark, you can even make it completely black if you want) but it's only for 4.0 unfortunately. That would be very useful for me considering I use safari on my iPhone in the dark before going to bed and the stock 0% backlight is still much too bright. It would also conserve battery power as well.

I must say.. all the scratches on the back of my iPhone (1st gen) come from dust between the rubber case and the back of the phone. I've been carrying it naked for a while and no scratches have been added..

I wish I still had my original iPhone it was a great overall phone. To me, at least, it still can compete with other smart phones still coming out today.

Yesterday I was going through my magazine rack and found this iPhone ad for the original. Just found it interesting.
