Here's my setup. Ikea Micke. Awesome wire management and it's pretty sturdy.

I really like this set up, the desk looks neat and tidy....and is very affordable (well he in the UK)

I was looking into the Galant desk from ikea, but I'm not sure if it's the best desk for me. What I would have on my desk is obviously the 27" iMac, my 13" Macbook with the Griffin Elevator Stand, lamps, hard drives, books, etc.

It would be awesome if the desk would look very elegant or something that looks nice.

Thanks!

I really like them on glass desks, which can be found pretty cheap. You can get them for less than $100, and the machine looks great on them, though make sure you get one thick enough to hold it.

Another idea

My wife ended up getting the bigger Ikea Micke setup.

Setup: a total pain in the butt but it looks impressive:

My setup isn't quite as impressive looking.. I call hers the nerve center.

Mine is an Ikea Fredrik and I wish I had a good photo of it....

I really like them on glass, when the top of the desk doesn't look like someone ransacked it :D.

Are you kidding? That was a good day. lol... :D

I don't understand desks where it looks like nothing happens...

Cable management needed badly!

Lol... yeah, for sure. That was just a couple days after setup and things were still getting situated.

"Dammit Jim... I'm a musician, not an interior decorator."

Ikea micke

I also have the IKEA MICKE desk and I love it, the only issue I have seen as I spoke to someone who has the same desk with a 27" iMac, and he noticed that over time the desk started to sag due to the weight of the iMac.

I guess, but why add another clunky Ethernet wire when my 802.11n wifi is fast as the wind?

802.11n is probably 1/10th as fast as gigabit ethernet is real world applications. In addition, the latency is much higher. Copying files over the local network would be significantly slower, but if you don't do any of that I suppose it doesn't matter.

Can you please tell me where your wife bought that desk from?

Sorry I see where you got it now :)

i have a bdi sequel. this is actually the (clockwise from left) the 6002 (return), 6001 (regular desk) and 6005 (tall filing cabinet). hating to wait on the new imac, but i think/hope it'll be worth it. cable management features of this desk is so good, too.

This is the exact desk I have asked for the carpenter. I have a habit of using PC and also the new iMac, but the current desk is just too short -- and old.

So I have decided to go with a L-shape desk like yours, he told me it would cost around $200. And probably will commence the work from tomorrow.

Nice setup, you lucky boy! :p

Yea...other than small, incremental Time Machine backups to my Time Capsule, I don't do too much heavy data transfer over the network. The wifi is fine for web surfing and email.

I have some large HD video recordings on the iMac, but the 1TB hard drive still has plenty of room, so no need to transfer them to the Time Capsule drive only any time soon.

i have had my Ikea desk for a couple of years now...works prefectly. 2 triangular legs supports the flat table top. It's pretty sturdy but the top of desk does slide around if you push it.

Downstairs office I have a Z-Line Delano L Computer Desk, I have the center section level with the wings and I sit facing the center, it really isn't all that easy to use if you face either side because of the angles of the mesh cross supports. I have this in the center of my office directly under a ceiling fan.

Upstairs I have a Z-Line Salina Desk where I do not use the stand, so it is a flat surface. It is very good for a corner

I use this one. Looks great and is functional although you will need separate file cabinets / drawers. Staples has it on sale for $99 right now.

Here's Mine.

Some interesting set ups here, I have to say I like my new set up with the 27 inch I7. The desk is hand built with a Solid Walnut about 1 1/2 inch wide cut from the middle of the tree. Legs that are build out of a Walnut faced composite. Overall the cost was around $220 and took about 4 hours to build.

I like the woodsy feel of the desk next to the modern Imac.
