...for an company of Apple's size, their retail simply does not scale down to serve a nation of 11M people very easily. and the pricing more or less reflects that.

... you do not like the price in one place, you are free to choose a substitutable good or buy somewhere else...

Your analysis is correct under normal conditions...behind APPLE products, there is huge, undesirable profit outside the USA...

According to your approach, do you think APPLE sells their products in Russia at lower prices? (population of Russia is huge!) Of course not! An iMac in Russia costs more than in Belgium!!! Do you think Russians are poor people and APPLE has difficulties to sell its products there? of course, no! Then, why???

Yes, indeed! A citizen of the EU can travel to the USA to purchase an iMac at a lower price (30-40%!!!) ...do you call it free market? Who really controls the "APPLE" prices in the market and makes undesirable profit of that? (this is the question).

It's nothing new, I know. But still 1 euro is 1,3 dollar today.

The cost for buying a new high end rmbp in America, is lower than the cost for buying a low end rmbp in Europe!!!

It's actually disgusting.

Thank god I'm flying to NYC next week so I can buy one:mad:

My airplane ticket is cheaper than the difference with their conversion
You mean 1 Euro is 1.3 dollars. That’s something that always messes me up when I’m looking at prices stated in Euros - the comma being used to differentiate between whole and partial Euros. For example, if I see a price of 3,99 Euros, it looks like three thousand and ninety nine, not 3.99.

Oh. Sorry about that. I didn’t noticed. I saw this one under “Suggested threads” when I was on a thread whose name included the word “outrage” and I just assumed this thread was recent. I really gotta start checking dates on these things.

@ Mr bee
I am very happy to pay a little bit more - and to live in Europe, where everyone lives under human conditions and gets medical treatment, education and Universities are free for everyone and so I pay with "Pleasure" 20% VAT and 6,5% of import taxes and there is (until now) an acceptable social balance and only a fraction of criminality on the streets comparing to the US...

Social Balance, a system respecting human rights at a high level, and medical treatment (mostly) for free does´t fall from heaven for free - in Europe solidarity is not (yet) a strange word. You forgot?
