The reason there is no FireWire in the new MacBooks

Even if that is true I would have preferred them to drop one of the USB ports. I have never used both at once, and if I did require it, there are small external hubs that can be easily used. But I do use Firewire for target disk mode and that's somewhat important to me.

I am a PC user, and even my piece of cr^p of a Dell laptop that I admit s^cks has a firewire port. I've only used once with a friend's camcorder, but it's there.

Apple don't add features to their gear for the sake of "being there". Never did actually.

There are three viable options if you don't want to spend the money on a new MBP:

(1) Old MBP

A 15" laptop is just too big.

(2) White MB (What's wrong with it? It's a fine computer if you don't play 3D video games.)

I already have a black MB. I want to move up!

(3) PC laptop.

I already run Windows on my MB.

(4) Fourth option: wait until Steve relents.
