The FedEx flight from Shanghai to Memphis (FDX90) is about to land it ten minutes. Hopefully a lot of our rMBP's are on that plane!

Heh, I just submitted a request to hold my rMBP at a FedEx location and now my tracking gives a one "KIN YEAP LIU" as the sender of the package. Don't mind the man behind the curtain and all... ;)

I wonder how many MacBookPros you can fit in a 777-200

Based on FedEx freight guidelines and this site indicating that a standard pallet is 40"x48", each pallet has a volume of 40*48*70 = 134,400 cubic inches. Each 13" rMBP box is 16.53" x 12.60" x 4.33", assuming nothing else was ordered, for a volume of 901.84 cubic inches. 134,400 in^3 / 901.84 in^3 per rMBP = 149 rMBPs per pallet.

Now, since the 777 Freighter can fit 37 pallets, one FedEx 777 can fly around 5500 13" rMBP boxes per trip. Most likely there are fewer since there are other packages on the flight as well, but there you go.

In about an hour or so, all of FedEx's domestic fleet should be on the ground in Memphis. They'll probably file flight plans for the outbound flights not too long afterward. Think we could tell much from the size of aircraft they assign to certain routes?

Since Saturday, this all mine has said:

10:30 pm
At local FedEx facility
SHANGHAI CN

...with different times.

My delivery time is still this Thursday. Wonder why it is sitting there so long

I'm on the same boat here, I was hoping I would get it before Thursday, but I don't think its happening.

Thank you. Very cool.

No problem. :)

Actually, this page gives 96" x 125" for the pallet size, not 40"x48". Using that size, total volume per pallet is 437,184 cubic inches, meaning each pallet can hold 484 13" rMBPs, or 17,900 rMBPs per flight.

Assuming one flight to Memphis per day that only had MacBooks, that works out to around 6.5 million MacBooks per year.

(Also, the DC10 (which is what FedEx is using for the MEM->SAN run tonight) uses LD7 pallets, which have a volume of 658,368 cubic inches. That aircraft can hold 16,800 MacBooks, not much less than the 777. Then again, it's definitely not going to have nearly that many on board.)

Mine changed to "In Transit" but it still in Memphis. Don't know what that means. Is it ready to take a flight to San Jose, CA?

I'm in the same boat as both of you! why is it just sitting in Shanghai for 3 days?? so. it hasn't actually shipped yet then or is it moving around to different facilities in Shanghai?

I had hoped to get it earlier too, guess that won't happen if tracking is accurate. If it's not even in the country yet, is Thursday even still realistic at this point?

Anyone else getting this message? It appeared 10 min ago together with the "1:46 am Clearance delay - Import" update. I'm gonna be really annoyed if this delays the delivery (which has always been Wed).

It seems that my boy is getting delivered today :) (I am in the Netherlands).

The UPS Scheduled Delivery is still Wednesday, but the package is out for delivery.

To re-cap: I have ordered it in the morning after the keynote (Wednesday), and it is arriving on Tuesday (29.10.), while the Apple delivery prediction was 30.10.-01.11. Not bad.
Although I still wonder why it spent 24+ hours in Dubai.

Has been quite a trip!

Departed from Malmö this morning to Denmark (there's about 200km from Malmö to Odense where I live). If it went straight to my city, it should be here at about 9AM, but I doubt that. It still estimates a Wednesday delivery, but it would be nice if it arrived today (even though that's really unrealistic). I just can't wait anymore :D

I love that people are actually tracking the planes their Macbook might be on.

Mine's currently en route from Korea to Kazakhstan. I've always got UPS deliveries the day after they have arrived in Kazakhstan.

After the Waiting For Haswell thread I'm surprised some people haven't identified the Foxconn workers that built theirs. :D

I think mine's on the same UPS flight from Korea (I realise I said Fedex earlier, brain not functioning). UPS say the 4th for delivery to Manchester, UK. Apple are still sticking to 30th - 1st.

Same boat here!

Now, if my calculations are correct, it should arrive in Almaty around 17:50 local Kazakhstan time (ALMT) :D
