Ok, sooo. Are we allowed to post pics of the back? I never dropped it, and it's been in a case. Idk how the corner cracked, but it just did. Maybe I set it down too hard on my desk? Getting angry won't help me, I didn't even notice the crack until I took the case off. I'm not gonna throw a huge fit unless it randomly cracks again. It's not going to help me recoup anything. As my mother used to tell me, suck it up. Sorry about the first picture, not sure why it turned out so blurry.

First picture turned out blurry because your auto focus was trying to focus on the reflection on your phone.

What is that spot in the middle of the crack in the picture - dust? From experience, to cause a clean break like that on glass near a corner, pressure would be needed. Something like being in a pocket and you go to sit or squat and that corner would be right where your pants start pulling against you tight. The phone would take the brunt of that pressure resulting in a crack. That's just a scenario.

See what Apple says.

Monkey Glass.

Even if it is gorilla glass, do we know how good that's supposed to be in this application? It's still very thin unlike a helicopter window.

Either case we should call it Monkey Glass.

Although it's a dog, they should have dedicated it to the person deciding that it was a good idea to use it; and just call it monkey-glass.

It must be difficult for you to accept that Apple Inc just released a defective product. Who the hell is so stupid to employ a design that makes phones break from one simple drop? There are more and more of these threads around and some people report only minor drops. I wish that Apple released an iCar made by card board, so people like you can learn a bit more about product design, when your iCar sees its first rain.

actually it is great for them and bad for you. they get you to buy another phone even though people are complaining they still end up buying it and any replacements so they are making more money. and they keep coming back for more products in the future. it is actually ingenious on their part, making something that won't last and they don't have to suffer consequences since they don't seem to be losing any business over it. sure people are complaining but i'm sure apple will take the complaints along with the money that is following inspite of it all

Not sure how it cracked because you never dropped it? I'll tell you why it cracked...because the design is flawed.

Things are just too tight up inside that phone. Apple wasn't happy with releasing a phone the same thickness as the 3GS after it kept the form factor the same since the 3G. They WANTED, no, NEEDED to be thinner. Because thinner must be better! It must be!

Except it isn't.

There's just no shock absorption whatsoever because everything is packed so tightly and neatly in the iPhone 4 that once you drop it, the only thing that takes the shock is the GLASS. And that tiny metal/rubber whatever rim around the glass might as well not even be there. It doesn't help at all.

This wasn't the first report of the glass cracking without the user remembering any heavy amount of pressure applied to the phone...

I have an iP4, I love it, and I love Apple products. But this is the most epic fail designed iPhone they've released yet, from the antenna, to the glass, to the sensor placement, to even the manufacturing process of the white iPhone 4s.
