Bought the new 8 plus is gold on verizon. loved the screen, hate the weight.
can't believe its heavier than every other Plus before it.

Before you say the "glass", even the samsung galaxy S8+ is lighter than this.

I returned it for the regular iPhone 8 which, in itself, is heavier than both the iPhone 7 and 6S and 6.

C'mon apple, if samsung can do it....
Better than a bendable phone, right?

As stated above, the difference in weight is minuscule. It should be a virtually indistinguishable difference in your hands.

I came across this post because I bought the 8+ as my FIRST plus sized phone. I am female and used to my 6s. I was here because I am on the fence about keeping my 8+. I'm considering going to the 8. The 8+ is big and heavy, for me. I wanted to give it a try and I haven't made up my mind yet - but I get what they are saying. The struggle for me is giving up the camera. That's the main reason I bought it.. but I'm sure the 8's camera will be just fine.

I’m also a female and struggling with the weight of the 8 Plus. It’s only been one day but I don’t know if I’ll be able to adjust to it. I have an S8 and it’s so much lighter and easier to use. I really wanted the 8 Plus for the battery life and camera upgrades. So far, the battery life is nothing to brag about. Ugh, why can’t Apple get it right? The 8 Plus is humongous and the X isn’t available yet. Maybe I can buy a cheap phone to use until the X is available for preorder? I just switched service to Verizon.

If anyone can feel the difference of less than half an ounce, that's pretty incredible.

You should take that on tour.

Ok ladies, another female owner of the 8+ here. I owned the 6+ prior and it took about a week to get used to the size of the phone in my hand. I have small hands. So yes, it was awkward getting use to it, but it worked out because I knew I wanted the screen size. With all of the improvements, especially the camera, and being used to the screen real estate, the 8+ was the obvious choice for me this time around.

I recommend giving it a good week to see if you naturally adjust how you hold the phone and if the hand fatigue gets better. Flip back and forth with using the phone in both landscape and portrait modes. If it still feels weird, then of course, take it back. Ultimately, it’s personal preference.

I don't have an 8+ but I got my 8 today and it does feel "chunky" it was the first thing I noticed. I will say I do like the heavier feeling it feels more stable/easier to hold.

I held an 8+ for the first time today. I can't believe we've gotten to the level of 1st world problems where people complain that such a device is too heavy for their comfort.

Why is it so hard to believe that not everyone wants a mini tablet as their phone? Why should anyone be uncomfortable with something they spent almost 1000$ on? Not everyone has the same wants or needs. I came from a 6s. It’s quite an adjustment. But now it’s up to me to decide if it’s worth it to adjust when the 8 is also a great phone.

I was referring to people complaining about the weight difference between the 7+ and 8+.

If you're coming from a non-plus model, then of course it will be noticeably larger than you're used to in every measure. I would think one would have factored that into their purchasing decision.

Oh yeah. That difference isn’t huge. But mine is. And yes, I factored it into my purchase. But I really wanted the camera and big screen. Currently I love it for many reasons. My ONLY dislike is the weight/size. One handed operation isn’t possible - which I expected. Just trying to figure out if that and other size related dislikes are worth getting used to... I’m still on the fence, because I mostly love it

In all likelihood you will get used to it.

It's great that Apple has finally given up on the thinner and lighter is better idea. If I was in the market for a new phone the extra weight would be a selling point for me.

Well, I decided that I don’t want to wait to adjust to it. I am returning the 8 Plus and I will wait to preorder the X. I think the smaller X will be a better fit for me, and it has a slightly better camera than the 8 Plus. I am concerned about the battery life of the X, though. I ordered a used 5S as a backup phone to use while I wait for the X. Good luck to everyone else.

It weighs 1 ounce more than the S8+ (6.1 oz vs 7.1)

That's not really a whole lot of extra weight in your hand.

I didn't mention size except in response to another person who spoke about the difference between a 6s (non-plus) and the 8+. You've taken my comment, which wasn't directed at you, out of context. I suggest you refer to my previous comment which was more broadly directed. I'll quote it for you:

I held an 8+ for the first time today. I can't believe we've gotten to the level of 1st world problems where people complain that such a device is too heavy for their comfort.

So yes, I understand that your problem is with WEIGHT DUDE. That is, a very, very small amount of weight. Please try to understand the full context of a comment and whom it is directed at before you rudely accuse others of being dense.

It doesn't feel heavier than my old plus.

I think if you're coming from a smaller iPhone to the Plus model, the weight seems much more substantial. But from somebody who is an iPhone 7 Plus owner, I wouldn't likely notice the difference in the weight and if I did, it would be negligible.
