The plus would not fit in my work pocket. I choose to put the phone in a certain pocket for ease of use and to protect it. The 7 model fits perfectly in my work pocket. So, the skinny jeans argument is not always valid.
Indeed, I don't own a pair of jeans or trousers that the regular iPhone will not fit in, but on skinny jeans it is snug. If I had the Plus I'm sure it would squeeze into some of them but with a quarter of the device sticking out. That's not great, nor should it be a concern.

The iPhone 6 was actually a better phone than the 6+, chiefly because the 6+ didn't work properly. When they got the specs right with the 6S+ the smaller phone did indeed become a second class citizen. It has a dreadful display, worse camera, less RAM and a shorter battery life. That makes it an inferior phone.
I think this is why this topic is very subjective. Inferior is down to personal taste. The display isn't dreadful on mine but I may be lucky in that regard and to me in my personal opinion the Plus is the inferior phone because it's so cumbersome. Others may disagree with that but that's why there is no definitive answer here.

Once you've had a 4k display for a while, even the Plus models look to have poor screens but heck, the 720p of the 4.7" iPhone is frankly hideous once you've lived with 1080p or more. People who have stuck with the smaller iPhone for years know no better and are blissfully unaware of how terrible their screens are. Is it a bad phone? No of course not but it is absolutely inferior to the Plus model other than the size issue that some people have.

4K in the sizes of these phones really wouldn't make a worthwhile noticeable difference. 1080 is certainly something that is fairly good, and while the smaller iPhone could see some improvement from that, what it has, given its size, is far from anything even remotely horrible.

I dispute that, but not from a position of malice. I'm not suggesting that the 4.7 incher should have, or needs, a 4k screen. That was a comparison between a big Samsung and the Plus model. 1080p is enough for me but I can absolutely see the limitations of a 720p display on the smaller screened iPhone and it's a total dealbreaker for me.

I can't comment on 4K on a phone to be honest. The screen in this instance comes way down the list when judging portability for me. The screen on my phone is good enough for my current needs especially as I can't tell the difference when holding it side by side with the Plus. Indeed we all have different priorities.

4k is clearly too high for a mobile phone as QHD is already far than enough and not making huge differences for phone size in between 4.7" and above up to 5.9".

4.7" is my minimum acceptable screen size and my preferable always in between 5.5" to 5.9".

As for resolution, minimum shall be at least Full HD - 1080p.

Below 1080p for example 720p is very not sharp especially on wording and pixelate in icon and here and there in the UI for screen phone size 4.7" and above.

720p did not meet my requirement since 3 years ago, any phone not at least 1080p will be out.

Really? Portability? Are u serious? We're talking about a one and a half inch difference. Or less than an inch for 4.7 owners. You are ridiculous

Im dead serious!

Just coz the Plus fit some of my pockets, doesn’t mean its comfortable to carry around and use it as a daily phone. Portability and battery life is the most important thing!

You know what is ridiculous? people like you. I would give you better answer, but for this i need to go down your level, so take the extra one and half inches you love so much and shove them up your middle pocket, or your purse.

Yeah the Plus is props cumbersome. I've had them for two years now and they're awkward to ferry about. Phones usually go into my jacket's zipped inside pocket but the Plus models don't.

If said small phone easier for one hand, that is really true.

But said 4.7" phone cannot fit in pocket is some how ridiculous.

I can even fit the Mi MAX which is 6.44" phone in my jeans, off course not that comfortable as it is kind of heavy and really big but fitting in 5.5" iPhone 7 Plus is never an issue and it still extremely comfortable.

If the SE had 33% of the apples market share, more bells and whistles would be added, but it doesn't, and therefore not much time and effort will be put into it

That's what I'm thinking. I'm wondering if I may as well get used to a bigger phone now rather than live in hope that Apple will release a better 4" one. However, then I look at my iPhone SE with it's headphone jack, and consider the iPhone 7 where I'd need to use a dongle to run my Bose sport headphones.....

Us plus users understand that most 4.7 people choose that for its size. That's fine but please stop whining about the few extra features the plus has. If you want those features-get a plus. My hands are actually a lil smaller than average so when my 6+ arrived in Sept. '14 I immediately thought I made the wrong choice. Wrong. After 3 days I was completely used to the 5.5 size. Still love it. If Apple put the few extra features on the 4.7 and not the 5.5, I'd still get the +. And the people that say the + won't fit in their pocket-only if ur wearing something skin tight w tiny pockets and even then the 4.7 won't fit that well either. Overall just accept the fact that 5.5 is the one. If you refuse to buy it still-enjoy your 4.7 and please stop crying about it.

I think outdated is the wrong word. It makes it seem like it's not a great display. It's a ****in fantastic display. The only diff you notice between it & OLED are the blacks.

Please stop w the pocket bs. I'm 5'10" and my pluses have always fit in ALL of my pockets w room to spare.

The way the phone feels in my pocket while walking or sitting is the main reason I'm thinking about using my early upgrade to go from the Matte Black 7 Plus I have now to the regular iPhone 7. I feel always feel like I'm going to bend the phone when walking or sitting down or walking up stairs. I don't wear anything like those skinny jeans or whatever the trend going around is. My jeans are always baggy and comfortable. The pockets are normal.

I also don't really use my phone for consuming that much media. I have the iPad for that, so I'm sure the regular iPhone 7 would be fine. I actually considered it when buying the new phone, but went with the 7 Plus because of the extras, which I now don't even use. I can usually tell the difference in screen color, uniformity, etc., more than most other people I ask, and when comparing the screens in the 7 and 7 Plus, there isn't as big a difference as the OP suggests. Besides the size of the UI, the iPhone 7 is a very vibrant and clear screen. It's still considered "Retina."
