A quick question to the PS4 experts in here:

Can a PS4 console obtain its internet via Wi-fi? I'm guessing yes, since it's a new generation product.

Reason I ask is… when I finally decide to buy one, I might have to put it in a small room (the den or office) that does not have an internet coax cable nearby.

thanks for answers

Yep, it has wifi. It's much faster on a cabled connection though.

The last time I had one was an original PlayStation1, and then a PSP (the original handheld). This PS4 may be my first 'modern' console in about 7-8 years. :D

When one console from last gen shipped without wifi at all (Xbox 360) you can be forgiven for asking ;). Sony machines are pretty forward on technology though. Now... if only someone can think of a good use for that rear touchpad on the Vita! (aside from Tearaway of course!)

The problem is that Sony isn't selling enough Vitas so there is no incentive for developers to make something new for it, hence most of the games that come to it are ports which don't necessarily make use of the Vita's hardware. Hopefully the new slim model has a positive effect on sales!

Looks like Amazon Germany finally caught up on their preorders. The PS4 was in stock, ready to ship, for general customers earlier this week. Sold out rather quickly thoug, but the next batch is coming in next week.

I saw one today in a big electronics store...and I couldn't resist, I bought it! :D

It was force-bundled with the camera, cause stores are still exploiting the shortage. So now I have an unopened PS4 camera here. Any reason to keep this thing?

I can't think of any good use for it, so I am thinking about just selling it on Ebay to recoup some money.

Picked up Second Son along with it, and I am just getting started. Looks pretty good so far, but it doesn't have the same wow factor as the PS3 had compared to the PS2. I mean, it looks great, but does it really look THAT much better than The Last Of Us?

The only thing you can do with it at the moment is playroom, voice commands, a face cam for Twitch streaming and face unlock. If you don't want/need to do any of these things, then it's very much a product for the future, if not, sell it for a profit!

I am selling it to a friend at a small loss. :)

You can also try Homeplugs, if they are available in your country they are great, they use your homes electrical wiring to send a network signal down. I use them and they work great, really easy to use, just literally plug one into a power socket where you PS4 is and connect an ethernet cable between the console and Homeplug, then do the same where your router or modem is.

They work better then wireless, just need to ensure they work with your wiring as some homes have two electrical circuits and they won't work if they are not on the same circuit. Just send them back then if they don't work.

Just ordered a PS4. Ordered it from Gamestop.co.uk so I'm on a waiting list, but the price itself is pretty sweet (£320). Also ordered Second Son, Killzone and Ground Zeroes. Picked up a camera too in preparation for Morpheus and because I still have a Move controller... somewhere! Might be a couple of weeks before I get the console however.

... and a HDMI splitter so I can actually play all my current consoles :D

That isn't true. The vita sells a ton of games. I read somewhere each person with Vita buys an average of 7 games. Plus you always getting greet free vita games on ps plus.

PS+ is damn amazing.

I am a first time member this year with the PS4 purchase and holy crap I have missed some greatness since it came out. I mean a free game each month on the PS4, possibly 2 in the future AND free games on my Vita for $50 a year?

I am researching into getting an XBOX1 and have been reading about Games for Gold or something and its not even released yet to the XB1? Playstation has definitely done that service right and not sure why anyone would not subscribe.

If you have a ps3 its a good idea to bank those games as well, just to have them.
