Killzone Shadow Fall is free with PS+ this weekend; grab it while you can!! :D Disappointed that I spent £40 on it though... :(

What? Where did you hear this? I just got it for Christmas and it's not too late to return it... I just want proof before I do (this seems way too good to be true).

Edit: Nevermind, I see the confusion (I saw that free multiplayer and forgot about that since I can't take advantage of it as I'm now away from my PS4 on vacation. Well I suppose I could try to remote play but it seems like it would just be an exercise in frustration to try to play against others on my Vita especially when I am across country so there is a little bit of lag when playing my PS4 (honestly, it's impressive it works when I literally am across the country. My PS4 is in Washington State and I am in Georgia right now. The lag is noticeable but I still was able to accomplish some stuff in AC IV despite the lag, it wasn't quite unplayable).

Just out of curiosity what are the up/down speeds of your connection both in Georgia and Washington?
And yeah remote streaming is not the panacea but it's cool. I've been able to play Resogun just fine… at home :p
But it looks beautiful it's a great HD stream whatsoever.

Well, the time it worked (I couldn't get it to work later that night but not sure if I forgot and told the PS4 to turn itself off rather than standby) it worked decently. Every now and then it would give me the warning icon for connection is iffy. But the lag was consistent (I would say enough to notice it for sure and probably some people would call it unplayable and i will admit I wouldn't want to play some games with that kind of lag but I could do some stuff with the lag as well (depends on how timing specific it was).

It's definitely not ideal. Just impressive to be able to do it in the first place.

But I've also played it at my friend's house and it seemed decent enough there with very little lag (at least not so noticeable to me).

I see. Well sometimes on the other room (aka where the router is NOT) I'd get some lag in Resogun, similar to when you play online with someone where the ping is high, so I assume it's similar for you.
It's nice really, but I wouldn't just go and tell anybody to grab a Vita just because of the feature (tho' it was 20% basis for my decision, the other 20% being my gadget porn addiction and the remaining 40% PS+).

But anyway I asked about connection speeds because the guy who made himself famous for a day when he tried 4G in Chicago or something streaming from home to downtown made me think with a decent I don't know, 10mbps speed stream, one could really enjoy the remote play without discerning lag, but then again being at home and having lag is something that shouldn't happen anyway.

So why is it that friends who are signed in on their PS4 do not show up on my PS3's friends list as online? I thought they were even talking about cross-gen messaging and chats?

Sales in Ireland.

I read yesterday that Irish gamers spent 8 million euro on new consoles & accessories over Christmas. That sounds a decent figure until you average out the cost to say €500 a piece and divide, leaving you with 16,000 units.

Given this is split between Xbox one and PS4 it shows how little stock of both consoles actually made it to retail shelves after launch and how both have been sold out for weeks.

16,000 units .....

Admittedly small county, but with just over 4 million people and reportedly around 30% of the populace to actively game, that means 1.5 million people and 16,000 consoles.

I wonder what the story was like in other countries ?

Interesting.

Does this include just XBone and PS4, or all other console sales as well?

the question will be how that data has been gathered ... especially since they mention "over christmas" if it's jsut consoles sold as a present on christmas, or is it december sales ?

2 guys from my company who preordered in september didn't even get their units yet so it could also be a very supply constrained case

Yeah there is a lot of unknown questions and they didn't even state their sources so who knows.

I would imagine that the network will be busy all they way past Japan's launch of Feb. 22...

What is the best looking game everyone has played? I am just wondering what the best next-gen experience you have has so far?

For me, I have bought Fifa 14, Knack, Killzone and AC4 and Assassins Creed is easily the best looking game I have been playing. The colours, the detail, the weather, the shrubbery, absolutely beautiful game on PS4 (Which is the only place you'll get 1080p other than high end PC).

Have heard battlefield is pretty stunning too. Though I think we will have to wait for Infamous to have our socks knocked off.

Skylanders Swap Force is extremely good looking in 1080p and with all the enhancements they made to next gen version. It looks far better than Knack with living breathing levels unlike Knacks sterile environments. 1080p, 60fps and AA levels on it's just a beautiful game.

Likewise Lego Marvel on next gen is glorious and vibrant.

AC4 is as you say beautiful too.

In NZ the PS4 has been sold out since July (contrast with Xbox One which was still available on launch day). Sony says that "large quantities" of PS4s will be available here on 16 January, but no numbers so far.

I did see something stating that it's the best console launch ever, but it was unclear whether that was for NZ or worldwide.

I've played BF4, AC4, Fifa 14 and Killzone and I have to say Killzone is the best looking game I've played so far. Can't wait for The Order: 1886, DriveClub, Infamous, Destiny, Watch Dogs etc. 2014 looks to be another great year for gaming! :D

Just picked up Need For Speed: Rivals from Tesco for £48 - Amazon are charging £50+ for it and seem to have intermittent stock. Sounds like a good game although now 3/4 games I have are EA multi-platform games and the only exclusive I have so far is Killzone (great game), looking forward to getting exclusives like Infamous, Driveclub, The Order etc. so this should keep me ticking over for the time being! :D

You could have got it a little cheaper buy purchasing it for PS3 and then buying the PS3 - PS4 upgrade in psn store.

Game.co.uk have it for £22.49 on PS3 and it's £9.99 for the upgrade. This would have saved you £15.

Is Swapforce the same game areas as Giants or does the Swapforce game disc have different areas?

Completely different areas. Most levels are far bigger than those in Giants and have far more hidden areas. They are more varied too.

I got the Seagate 1TB SSHD drive for my PS4. Felt it was a good balance between space and speed. From what I had seen online the SSHD is almost as fast as the SSD most of the time. I really noticed the speed increase when going in and out of my garage in Need For Speed Rivals.
