Yeah, it would have been hard to miss what I'm talking about. It was this past week's episode during the final WWII German flashback.

Most times I watch from a recording. This week when I expected to see The Strain, it was not there, so I assumed they had skipped a week. I'll watch it soon. :)

The gas station scene reminded me of a variation of a Walking Dead situation. I love TWD but it would be better if The Strain kept itself differentiated. In the long run, I don't react well to been-there-done-that although I'm still hanging in with this show. I'm liking all of the actors especially Kevin Durand. Sorry to see the Hobbit (Sean Astin) go, but his character was on the mundane side. ;)

I agree with what you are saying here. I'm a big TWD fan myself. But I do like the way they have several episodes of suspense to build up to a major conflict episode like the gas station.

I've been watching the Strain from the pilot and it seems to get better with each episode. I must admit that the first several episodes seemed lame to me. But after that it really started to take off.

Another similarity between The Strain and TWD (and one I really hate) is the similarities in personalities of the main protagonists, Eph and Rick, respectivetly.

Funny story: I had a dream that Ebola was the virus on The Strain. If you think Ebola as it is now is covered a dozen times per day by every news source, imagine this .

FX series are not consistent. Helix an intriguing premise started at a watchable level and but sank rapidly. This started at a watchable level and I agree it has improved as it has progressed. I'm caught up, thumbs up! :)

So what did you think about the big reveal?!?!?!

It reinforced my enthusiasm for TS. It's interesting that from the start of Vampire llore, there have been two branches, the pale sociopath but mostly normal appearing vamps (Dracula) vs the Nosferatu monsters. This is a nice change of pace from pretty vamp stories. Love the way that thing moves, very menacing. And I want to know more about the VST, the Vampire Storm Troopers, lol! :)

That makes two of us!!! And I agree about the pretty vamps. I like the fact these vamps are not pretty and are definitely not the "show my fangs" when I get aroused vamps!

Trivia: how did the Master put everyone asleep/kill them on the plane and infect all of them without pandemonium? Everyone was in their seats. I don't know the answer. Infected food? :)

Not sure if this is a trick question but it was undoubtedly through the quick release of worms. Based on the previous episode, he can manipulate the worms such as how he gave the Nazi superhuman powers yet didn't transform him into a mindless vampire.

Interested to hear if there's a different answer though :). Their transformations were different than people infected by a vampire but as I said I think the Master can manipulate the transformation.

Not a trick question. I don't know the answer. My question was focused on mass infection on the plane. Mass release of worms seems like a good explanation, although this is a presumption as we've not seen that, we could assume that. Thanks! :)

It has been stated that the Master can grant higher developmental privileges to his favorites. The mechanics of those privileges is unexplained. We know he creates both types of vampires or can control their development after being created. The process is unexplained at this point.

There is still some question about how all the people appeared unconscious though.

Since there are two types of vampires, I do have to wonder whether the Nazi is the same as the hunting squad type that we saw at the end of "For Services Rendefed." He seems to be more difficult to defend against than the rest are.

I need to watch last night's episode.

My assumption at this point is that the Storm Troopers are an alternate group of vampires who stand opposed to The Master's plan of domination, world domination I assume.

It has not been made clear yet why this plan must unfold in The New World (other than it's an American TV show ;)) as the Master appeared well entrenched in the Old World circa 1945. I wonder, but am not expecting an answer to this question. Production costs, cheaper to film in Canada. :D

There's a pretty noticeable goof in "Loved Ones" (ep10) that's funny to spot for iPhone enthusiasts. When Eph picks up his wife's phone from the homeless lady, it's a gold/silver iPhone 5S. However, at the end when Eph hands the phone to his son in the same case as before it's a silver iPhone 5.

lol I figure half the time there's a phone on a show it's a producer's phone.

The son also found a Mac laptop in the pawn shop, so Apples are well represented during the apocalypse. ;)

lol I noticed that. He basically said "screw this" to the Windows laptops and just grabbed the old Mac.

Damn, that doesn't work!

Were the vamps in the well during the flashback also the storm troopers? They had the same type of teeth

I don't know. I'm assuming they are opposed to the Master because in both appearances they are saving (or apprehending?) humans while killing the other vampires in the vicinity. My guess there is a history which will be revealed eventually. So for the flashback... I don't know.

Yeah because the vamp talked to him and warned him instead of attacking him. He looked like a storm trooper to me. Just compare their teeth to the evil vampires.

I thought the season finale was good. They are clearly setting up characters for the next phase of the story. It was interesting to get a bit more information on the vampires who are not with the master. Thus far, they are one of the most interesting parts of the story. I'm still floored that in the last few episodes they continue to show people in the city going about their business as if nothing is going on.

This is my wife's primary critique... I enjoyed the final too. >< This close. :)
