I went from iPad 1 (which was black) to white new iPad. Glad I got the white. I watch loads of movies and the bezel never distracts me. The white just looks better IMO.

Same here. Doesn't bother me a bit for videos. House looks dark as hell on either border.

Had black iPhones and a black iPad. Switched all to white a while ago and I love it. The bezel doesn't show finger prints, and just looks better in my opinion. And yes, I am a married man with 4 kids and no one calls me "girly".

I did the same thing as well I could not stand the finger prints from the black phone and iPad and have switched to all white and never looked back :)

Unlike the previous poster, I don't have a macho complex. Went from black to white and never looked back. Clean, elegant, and non-conforming to decades of black electronics.

Put this on the back, go all the way.

black doesn't take away from reading books or viewing the web. you are still focused on the main screen, so black is actually good for all 4 things. white, on the other hand, only blends in for books/web.

And white doesn't distract from movies, you're still focused onthe movie.

I went from a black iPad 1 to a white iPad 3. In general, I much prefer the white – however what I noticed is that the whiteness of the screen (say on a blank webpage) doesn't match the white border. It's not important but if you have a screen with some degree of colour tint I expect it makes it more noticeable.

I have been against white iPhones/iPads in the past, but I'm warming up to them a little more. I know a lot of people who bought the new iPad in white, and I kind of like it now for some reason.

Since we have both, I went and did a side-by-side comparison. I find the white more elegant than the black from an ascetic standpoint but that's my personal opinion. Other than that, I can't tell the difference while watching video or reading. I can tell you that the white is uniquely more "apple" where the black looks like any other tablet. I don't buy this nonsense about color gearing to better performance for a particular use.

I had a similar antipathy toward white iOS devices in the past, however now I also find them to be quite intriguing. On the other hand, I think they are much more noticeable uncovered than black iPads, which results in more attention being drawn to the user. And that's not a good idea in this area considering the spike in mobile device robberies.

I got a white iPad. Its funny when I place my iPad and iPhone side by side how Apple made them look just like each other. The iPad is the iPhone's big brother, lol. I went white > black > white - I'm going to stick with the white iPad, though. I like the clean, elegent look...no fingerprints.

White is superior because it looks more "Apple".

Black looks just like another cheap'ol electronic device from Walmart.

Backlight bleeds also blends a bit better with white bezels.

My new iPad is white. After using it for a few weeks now, I am used to the change. I've watched a couple of tv shows and the white bezel doesn't bother me. I mainly chose white though, because my iPad 2 is black.

White is for girls.

BJ you forgot to list all the new family iPads. I am wondering if your daughter's is black or white ... never mind the boyfriend.

I went from a black iPad 1st gen to a white 3rd gen. Really dig on it, mostly because it’s a nice change from the previous iPad and our two iPhones which are also black.

I’m also a girly man.

First time I noticed how my white iPad stands out in a sea of suits and black iPads today. I sit on the board of trustees for a large hospital, and out of the fourteen members present, nine of us have iPads. Needless to say, mine was the only white one in the room. Yes, there was even a lady doctor in our midst with her "black" iPad. So if you don’t want the extra attention, get the black one.

Wondered how long it would be before someone posted that picture. But like I said I watch loads of movies on mine and it just does not bother me one bit. It's all personal preference.

How many TVs do you see with white bezels? Or any bezel for that matter?

Black disappears leaving the screen prominent.

of course, but you would be in huge denial to say that the white blends in the same as the black. whether it bothers people is a different matter.

that's one of the reasons why i picked the black model. i use my ipad during my daily commute on the nyc subway system and viewed from afar, it looks like one of those inexpensive android tablets, esp. since i have it in a folio-type case.

those smart cases that leaves the aluminum back exposed pretty much gives the ipad's identity away. between the smart covers and the white ipad model, you're practically telling any opportunistic snatchers, "Yeah, i've got the good tablet."
