The switch from black to white - how was it?

Agreed, this is one reason why I've decided to go with black. I found both colors appealing, but would like to obscure its identity more in a public setting.
I went with a white iPhone 4S and iPad 3 after having black previous versions. I don't mind the iPhone, but I wish now I'd gone with the black iPad. Not sure why, I think maybe I found the black bezel less distracting? After all, the iPhone doesn't have much of a surround by comparison.
For goodness sakes guys, I'm seeing ridiculous comments like 'black makes the iPad look cheap' and 'white is too girly'. When did the color white become girly? I have the white iPhone and I love it. I also have the black iPad and it's awesome. I think the black bezel blends in better while watching movies/videos and the white blends in better while surfing the net and reading books. That doesn't mean the black distracts from surfing the net though, and vice versa. I've been using my iPad while reading the forums on here and I didn't even think about what color border I had before seeing this thread. Same thing can be said on my iPhone. I watch TV shows on it and I always just focus on the video. The white bezel has never distracted me in any sort of way. Just enjoy your iPad and stop putting down others who decided to get a different colored bezel from you.
I don't care about any gender-based ideas...but I do think that the white has always screamed "Look at me!" I just feel like the black versions are a little more subdued and easier to just use without feeling completely ostentatious about my Apple device usage.
I have an iPad 3 hooked up to the TV most of the time so the fact that it's white doesn't bother me. That's the family iPad for living room entertainment on the big screen when we need to stream PPS movies. Aside from that, my dad would use it personally on occasion.
I myself have a white iPad 3 as well, but that is for my personal use in my room, and I mainly use it for web browsing and reading PDFs. The only time where I'll watch something on it is when it's on youtube or other short videos, or when I am in bed with the lights totally off, in which case the white border would not bother me one bit.

Great, just to spice it up - white shows less fingerprint and black shows less dirt - so exactly upto personal preference. Personally, I prefer black. Why the heck apple don't have black accessories - charger, earphone etc.
It was bad. It looked great with the screen off, but with it on, I found the white bezel distracting. I returned it and got black.
white is great for reading as it fits well with text with white background, minimal reflection also as opposed to the black mirror, I love my white ipad, I don't mind it all for video viewing either, of course the black bezel is better for movies, but for every other use, especially any use involving light and reflections the white is superior.
Really? When you use a tablet in public most people assume it's an iPad. Are you afraid that once someone knows it's an iPad that they're going to steal it from you? Not that I agree but, I'd be more concerned about a $2000 laptop than a $500 iPad.

I was going to downvote this, but instead I'll say: there's absolutely nothing wrong with something being for girls (which the white iPad isn't, but if it were...). The feminine is only threatening if you're a very insecure man. Nor is there anything wrong with men wearing nail polish - nice try tho~
To get back on topic, I'm considering going white for the iPad 4. Black is getting boring.

Anyway, I have the black iPad. Black doesn't distract from the web, and books, but white definitely distracts from movies. Problem solved.
Have own black iPads until the iPad 3. Now I have a white one. I see no difference between the white and black. Never a problem with movies, never a problem with the web , never a problem anything. I have no idea why everybody thinks this is such a big deal.
I too am comfortable with switch ing from the iPad 2 in black to the new iPad in white and I love it!
Haha! Good one! Seriously, I went with a white iPad this go round and really like it. Less visible smudges on the bezel and blends better (less noticeable to the eye) when using. And I don't feel more feminine, either.
I got a black iPad because I'm a tough **** manly trucker with a huge beard and a shot gun.
I actually got it because that's all the store had at the time. I've been thinking of going back to get a white one, but the one I have is flawless and I'm not sure if I want to push my luck. My old iPad was black as well (iPad 1gen) and I had a few people ask me "oh what type of tablet is that?" obviously I wouldn't get such questions with a white one. I don't have any issues with the black blending in with what ever I'm doing though. I don't watch to many movies so I don't think it'll be an issue.
Also, since I'm a girl I thought white might match the kitchen better. Don't you think BJ

I got the iPad 3 in White as i have the iPhone in black and most of my friends have black iPhone's and iPad's, I wanted to buck the trend and went with the white.
I'm happy with my choice when I'm watching or surfing the internet the border of the iPad doesn't bother me as i focus on the beautiful screen, And i don't see the colour of your iPad/iPhone defining your sexuality I wear white shirts at work, Wear white football shirts and drink out of white cups does that make me a girl nope makes me wash more though lol.

After years of black iphones and last year with a black ipad 2 I went white with the new ipad, and white 4s for that matter. Love it
