There are definitely SSD issues, or more precisely SMC issues when rMBPs are fitted with Sandisk SSDs (as mine is).

It can cause the fans to randomly spin up to full speed despite the temperatures not being high and the cpu load being low.

BTW my display is LG and it's fine.

I seriously like this machine. It has one flaw that is annoying (the SMC issue causing the fan spikes) but it's fixable with a firmware update.

Maybe I'm lucky, I don't know but seriously I am very happy with my rMBP.
I have a Samsung SSD but I agree with SMC. I need to reset it sometimes so games play appropriately...

As far as I'm concerned, everything in my 13" rMBP is made by Apple because that's who manufactured the end machine. If something goes wrong with the screen, the SSD, or whatever, I have an AppleCare Plan to protect me for 3 years (which is the length of time I plan on having the machine for anyway).

Everything has been perfect on my APPLE rMBP thus far and I gladly have no clue where they sourced the internal components during production. Stop driving yourselves crazy and just enjoy the device.
