An entertaining start to the new series, I hope they are all as good.

That sequential gearbox in the rally Mini was a lot better than the one I had in my old Mini 1000. :D

Haha it was funny how May was playing with that gearbox.

I wish I bought a Mini when I got my license 4 years ago...Oh how I regret my Civic purchase....:(

Have to say, never liked E-Types, overarched and underwheeled.

As for Clarkson, waxing rhapsodic over the £4k price difference between the Jag and Ferrari of the era... your ROI would've been significantly greater with the 250 GTO. Oh, and it's better looking too. ;)

Clarkson Tourism Board.

One of those few moments when you feel proud to be British.

Shame they didn't have a Harrier in the flypast - truly world beating Fighter Jet.

Or concorde, or more stuff that was good but they decided to stop using, and have nothing instead.

Keep your eyes peeled in this series all, as Grant, the Producer called me to detail a Bentley Turbo R for the show.

Look out for a Brookland Green, 1988 Turbo R.

Was detailed by Mark MacPhee, from Top Marks Detailing. :D

I had mine 25 years ago (real Austin Mini) and it was so much fun to drive. You soon learned a lot about controlled understeer. :D

That's one car I would like to drive some day. I remember watching a film of Minis being rallied, they had a camera pointing at the driver's feet and he was simply dancing on the pedals. :D

I do like E-Types, though their proportions are a little less than perfect from certain angles. I thought the Eagle Speedster love-fest was rather silly though. It looks like an uneccesarily expensive hot-rod to me. I had a look at their website and I still can't figure out how much E-Type actually exists in the Eagle...they use a rebuilt E-Type engine (or alloy facsimile), but does it use an original E-Type monocoque? Either way it's a mongrel.

Good claim to fame!

The How Many Left? site that Clarkson mentioned is neat. I popped on to see how many TVR Vixens were left (my dad had a Vixen S1 when I was very young) , and sadly that model isn't listed.

Only 69 Lotus Carltons left! But 157 Austin Princesses...

Yeah apparently the site gained an extra million hits that same night they mentioned it.

Never seen May so excited about anything that wasn't made of meccano, lego or an airfix model.

Flavio Briatore reminded me of Father Jack Hackett from Father Ted.

The hatchback "challenge" was pretty boring apart from the last bit at Monaco. I've driven that track a million times in Gran Turismo...wish I could do it in a real car!

The Ross Noble bit was funny.

Have to say... whilst that Aston looked dreadfully banal in the way that Aston's generally do, it looked like it handled beautifully.

Apart from that, I can't actually remember what else was on Top Gear.

I think Astons are very attractive cars - but they suffer from the fact that Aston Martin came up with one beautiful shape and have stuck with it for 15 years accross the entire model range...I never thought a beautiful car could be boring, but Aston are moving in that direction.

Nothing much. I liked watching Ross Noble sliding out of control on the track...someday someone is going to roll the RPC, and that will be funny.

Yeah - i was very surprised!

Grant even gave me 2 tickets to the show, so i was in the audience with my girlfriend on Weds, so we might be on TV on this Sunday's show, which has the Bentley on it! :D:D

It is unfortunate that they've milked the design language for all it's worth over the years, but the new V12 Zagato is a fine looking car, and a rather splendid example of contemporary-retro design, being a nod to the DB4 GT Zagato original.

The LED's are incredibly naff looking though, they would've been better increasing the numbers of LED's and placing them behind an opaque lens, giving the impression of a light-bar, rather than being reminiscent of something you can pick up on eBay from China for a fiver.

Brilliant episode today. I think the best episode yet in this series. I think it's even better than all of series 16 put together.

And wow Vettel's lap was epic haha! Hopefully they will put the new Stig around to see how fast he goes.

I think so too, sadly. The only good and slightly unique car they have designed since the DB9 was released is the One-77 and since I'll never get my hands on that, that doesn't really count.

I wonder if they will change the design once they start production of DB10 or whatever they decide to call it. Maybe "DB X" :D

It was a good one. The Nissan-2nd-hand bit was bordering on consumer advice. They got the balance right, as I think they have been a bit too silly the last couple of series.

Blimey, Market Harborough, the town where they asked everyone how much there cars were is quite close to me.

That Merc did look very nice indeed.

A fairly entertaining episode. I do not like the Range Rover Evoque though - May repeatedly talked about how good it was off-road but the stuff he drove on could have been handled by a Subaru (and, having lived in Nevada, I can vouch for that since I took my Forester on some light off-roading).

I liked the used car shopping bit. Whenever I'm shopping for a used car I'm tempted by those kinds of "bargains". You really need to do your homework though.

Vettel with a typical F1 drivers' lap - ultra-smooth and he looked bored doing it. I wonder how the new Stig will fare in the Liana.

Can we give up the USA Top Gear entirely and get them to air UK Top Gear episodes stateside.... at least sometime in the same year?

Or put them on iTunes, or something?!?
