I've been away from the TV for a couple months, only to see that Discovery started broadcasting Top Gear here in the States! Every Wednesday at 10pm. Yeah, baby!

The episode I watched was about the Ferrari F60/Enzo, with bits on the F40, McLaren and Zonda. They also had a cheapo car competition between an old Audi, a Volvo and a Rover 25. I like how they had to crash them at the end... When was this episode originally broadcast in the UK?

What a great show! It's hard to explain why it's so entertaining, but it is. Far better than any other car show on TV. The three hosts are pretty weird but pretty funny too.

I hope Discovery got more than just a few episodes (a bad habit they have when bringing UK shows over here). Anyway I just found something to do on Wednesday nights! :D

It was broadcast in May 2004 (Audi/Volvo/Rover), July 2003 (the 3 wheeler) and October 2004 (The Enzo). The Discovery 'Top Gear' is really just a best of program - they're specially edited, taking bits from multiple series and the studio segments are specially recorded, so they've never been broadcast as a whole programme in the UK.

That is one really wierd show.

I've only seen it once and it had the SLK McLaren, G-55AMG, and the cheap car race. There might have been more cars before the SLK though.

What a great show, they cover so much car stuff. I use to watch it every Sunday, the only thing that puts me off a bit is the fact that Jeremy Clarkson is a bit of a plonker, but I guess he's kind of funny.

US broadcasts cancelled

Apparently the US broadcasts of Top Gear have been cancelled. Balls to you, Discovery Channel.

[RANT]

I really hope BBC America picks up the original format broadcasts - whatever faults the program may have it is the best car-related show on TV (or was). So what if most of the cars aren't sold here?....I'm sick of Speed channel's 24 hour NASCAR barrage. Other than the F1 races it's basically a NASCAR channel. Oh, They do broadcast Fifth Gear....at 7am on weekdays. I'm not even sure they're doing WRC broadcasts anymore. Lame.

I may look into digital means of acquiring episodes now.

Down here, I've got cable and BBC World has Top Gear. One of the free to air's are screening Top Gear too. Guess we're spoiled for choice.

Kate Moss walks into a party and bumps into Jeremy Clarkson.
Hi Jeremy, Kate says, what do you do for a living?
Jeremy replies: I do Top Gear.
Oh that’s great, says Kate. Can you sort me out with some...

:D

AFAIK I can only get BBC America (I have), which at the moment is obsessed with UK home improvement shows like Ground Force. I think BBC World is one of those expensive extras like the foreign language packages or complete cricket package... and I don't have the cash for that.

Have you checked out www.topgear.com and taken a look at downloads of selected items and a possible option.

Wouldn't it be gr8 if there were TopGear episodes to download @ the iTMS?

See all broadcasts on your iPod...

I would buy all of them.

I'm lucky I live in Holland as BBC 1, 2 and World are available via cable. We get the South-east transmissions I assume.
Waiting patiently for the new series to come...... (HURRY UP!)

If you really, really look hard..... you can find many full episodes. ;)

If someone can show me a way to get all broadcasts since, say, 2002, legally... please inform me.
I am in no way fan of car shows (in Holland they have tried to produce "cool" car shows, or a Top Gear look-alike... and none of them seem "to get it"), but this 9 o'clock best-piece-of-entertainment-since-Blackadder is such fun to watch. C'est tout: FUN.

No comprimises, no built-in advertisement.. just the pure thing.

Tnx.

Anyone catch the new series of 5th Gear on Five in the UK this week?

God that was terrible. They are so trying to copy Top Gear with the shows format, while having little digs 'cause the presenters are all minor/failed racing drivers. NOTE: There’s a reason presenters make better presenters than race car drivers and vice-versa.

Where TG has a lap time leader board with marker pen on white tape they seem very proud, to the point of boasting, that theirs is an LCD and you have to endure lots of ‘funny’ comments between the presenters about typing errors etc.

The thing I liked about 5th Gear is at least they used words other than 'astonishing' and 'frankly astonishing' and 'utterly astonishing' to describe what a car is like to drive. :p

Actually, come to think of it... at least they have cars in their show. ;) heheh.

And they have VBH too. :D though that said... I wonder is JC was joking when he asked Sabine if she wanted a job. *dreamy sighs* :D

Thanks for the tip, Grey Beard, I'll nose around their web site.

Fortunately they broadcast the Sabine/Diesel Jag episode in the states, so I got to watch that one. She is sensational...If I ever met a girl who drove like that I'd make her drive me right to the jewlery store and buy her a ring on the spot. :D

"I could do that in a Van" - best line ever.

more so, when she all but matched his time in one. :D

I've yet to see that episode - it's at the top of my "to do" list though. :D

...I wonder if the German ladies prefer Brits or Septics?
