And if there are multiple Stigs why did they make such a big deal out of "killing" the last one?
Well most of the time there is only 1 Stig. It's only really when there is something the normal stig can't or the owner of the car won't let anyone else drive the car, that it is someone else. Two examples being that Maserati based on the Ferrari Enzo, where the owner of the car drove the thing round the track. Plus the winter Olympics Special when the stig went down that ski-slope.

The Stig is Ben Collins.

It's really not much of a secret.

Aye, when he's not stuffing very expensive GT3 Ascari's into the Armco!

My dad has an EFi Montego (the MG one complete with "graphite red" trim), it threw a piston through the head at 65mph on the M6!

He wasn't impressed....!:D

So do you have a name? You seem to know what racing class he's in (judging from your previous comment about his driving).

I do have a name for the white Stig. He used to race in ASCAR and I think he now races in the FIA GT series. From what I understand he has not been as prominent as the Stig in recent months as he is trying to get a drive across the pond in NASCAR.

I think you can quite easily do some detective work on the web and work out who it is ;)

As for killing off the old Stig; I remember them killing off the black Stig and heard something about the white Stig but never saw anything. Not sure why they did it, maybe for the show rather than the fact they where changing the driver?

Any one here a story on the radio (Radio 2 I believe) yesterday that one of the presenters (didn't say who) would be leaving after this series? Didn't hear it myself but my wife told me about it last night.

JC was on Simon Mayo this afternoon and said it was just a joke, James May is not leaving the show.

It was to me. :)

Of course I never bothered to look...too bad it wasn't an ex-F1 driver, though he obviously knows what he's doing behind the wheel! If he goes to NASCAR we'll have to get another Stig.

I didn't know who it was either, quite liked the mystery but after reading Hammond's HSE investigation I'm in no doubt now!

Colin McRae would have made an excellent Stig except his cornering would have been a bit more adventurous. Shame. They'll probably pick up another talented unknown from BTCC or F3. Also saw Tiff Needell's name being mentioned a few times, but I'm not sure of his contract status with Channel 5 and if he gets on with JC after the show was canceled in 2001.

Stig's quite tall
or is Lewis short?

Proposed Stig (Ben Collins) = "over six foot"
Lewis = 5ft 7"
Seems to tie up.

Man, do I love that program! Better still, can he oust The Stig?
Mansell (1.44.0) has already gone faster than Stig (1.44.4) showing that he still has talent... I don't think Lewis will go faster, I'd put him between the two.

Mansell did a 1:44.6 so the Stig is still the fastest around the track.

F1 drivers lap times

Clarkson is on Jonathan Ross next Friday, no doubt there will be questions about it.

most are fairly short I thought.

Most are... though Berger was 6ft, 6'1" I think. And Justin Wilson's 6'3" so they're not all midgets... accept Massa, who's about 4'2". :p

EFi ahahahaha that was such a source of pride back then wasn't it... :p they even named models just EFi and stuck the badge on the boot to prove it. :p :p :p

I'm sure I posted his name in this very thread a couple of years back? Anyway... it's been reasonably common knowledge for awhile, long before Hammonds little accident.

Apparently Hamilton will be driving the Liana, so we'll get to see where he stacks on the F1 drivers' board...can he oust Mansell?

I've been reading rumours that it was a wet track... :( but still, Hamilton must have a *cough* several (or so :p) pound advantage over Mansell... but then Mansell doesn't have the 'tash slowing him down anymore. :D

I'm surprised they don't ballast the car out so everyone's equal... doesn't seem fair really.

Whether he can beat The Stig or not though... how many laps has The Stig done of that track?

Shame, really. It doesn't take the mystery away for me, because I don't know (And don't want to know ) who Ben Collins is...

Or maybe, just maybe... I am The Stig. ;)

My first car, a 1986 Toyota Hilux, had an "EFI" badge on the B pillar...:)

I hope it's a dry track! Having F1 drivers on the show is always exciting - though I'd like to see some WRC drivers too.
