I am bitterly disappointed in Hamilton driving a diesel Merc GL420 with, and I quote, "24 inch rims". tsk tsk.

See, he may well be handsome, rich, divinely talented... but he's also a midget and has questionable taste. ;)

He's far too busy living it up in this just recently completed £30m house in Switzerland with it's own private fuel reserves

Yeah, it makes you wonder how guys like him can make ends meet at all. His last salary as a Ferrari driver was a paltry 37 million Euro. Let’s do a quick whip-round!

He was quite annoying actually, as he is on stage... He tried to hard to be funny...
...Once Hamilton has set the fastest lap of all time, all that remains is to put one other F1 driver in the car - Michael Schumacher! :D
I'd love to see how hilarious Schumacher would be in an interview with Clarkson, just as much as I'd like to see him take the car round the track.

He's not that busy at home, he's also been posting quickest times in F1 testing for Ferrari at Barcelona, he's so quick in fact that there's speculation he could take a drive back on the F1 grid. Hamilton vs Schumacher?

I bet his Stigness breathed a sigh of relief that the track was wet when Hamilton went around

that's assuming the Stig actually breathes:confused:

Thing is, being an F1 driver... What do you drive everyday? Do you buy something fast?... Whats the point when you can do 210MPH at work...
Exactly, what would you take if you had the pick of the Mercedes range what would you go for as a 22year old man? The SL (two seater)? The S-Class (rent-a-limo)? C-Class (can't afford the S)?

Do F1 drivers drive like F1 drivers on public roads, or do they just want to relax a bit? I can see the appeal in the G-Class, even if I personally am not a big fan of SUVs.

Of course he has to drive a Mercedes, its probably even in his contract, but I bet hes got a few other cars available to him when he wants. Like the Ferrari drivers who have to drive a Ferrari, I bet they choose other cars they don't talk about when they just want a relaxing drive.

Damon Hill had a Laguna when he drove for Williams-Renault, poor sod, but he did drove it bloody fast.

Jenson Button got busted doing a fair whack in a BMW diesel a few years ago. 144MPH.

I'm trying to think if he's gone as fast since then - even on the track ;)

Don't think you can blame Hamilton's choice of car, though. 22 years old with lots of money and want's something a bit different and "limited" to Mercedes.

I'd probs go for an E55 AMG, but each to their own and the new G-Wagen is much nicer than the old one.

Like the Ferrari drivers who have to drive a Ferrari.

They're allowed to drive anything within the Fiat stable, but only the Fiat stable. Alfa's, Maserati's... that kind of thing ;) oh... and Fiats. :p

Actually I figured they'd all have company cars from the Fiat stable in addition to they're 'compulsory' Ferrari, and I'd guess they choose either the Masser QP or the big Lancia as their comfort rides. By only the Fiat stable you're not implying they're not allowed to drive other cars are you? I know Schumacher wasn't limited when he was driving for them. 'cause he had a Bugatti, amongst others.

Which is why Schu drives a little Fiat hatchback.:D

Brilliant episode - I LOVED the bit with May and Clarkson in the old cars, and Hammond's bit in the R25 was great.

...And Hamilton's lap...what can I say? :eek::eek::eek:

Even if he has been groomed for it his whole life, he's clearly got the goods. Shame about the pimped-out Merc, :( , but he's paid to drive fast, not have good taste in automobiles, all of which must feel horribly slow anyway. Gone are the days of the gentleman racer.

But have you ever seen a picture of him driving it since '96? ;)

He also bought an ultra rare Cobra too... but even then, I believe I read something about him not being allowed to be pictured arriving at scheduled events or something in anything other than a Fiat Group motor, and that extended to his participation in other motor sport events too which was the soul reason for him not previously participating in the RoC because they used Citroën's WRC cars and his contract stipulated that he wasn't allowed to drive them (or any other car). This of course changed in 2004 when Ferrari supplied 360's for the event.

The bit with the two in the old cars was brilliant. Clarkson on instruction and May at the wheel - not my preferred driving configuration...
And Hamilton pwned

Gone are the days of the gentleman racer.

I miss James Hunt!

And did Stirling Moss not speak in defense of Mike Hawthorn about pulling an illegal move. Moss's intervention meant that Hawthorn was re-instated and the resulting points meant he beat Moss to the title. That's the ultimate in gentlemanly conduct!

Looks like Mr Clarkson is in the news again... clicky.

I can imagine what happened though, and I have absolutely no doubt I would've done exactly the same. Would've been interesting to see what colour the liftee went when Mr C turned round and walked back towards him! :D

At least they [The Police] said if there had been an offence he was the victim. For a second I though he was going to be arrested for 'fighting back' as it we're. Amazing though, that a 'gang' can harass a man, be surprised when he reacts and then get the Police involved. Unreal.

Get in Jezza!

What a lad ;)
Seriously though, aren't the police meant to be a gangs worst enemy but as soon as a 'big man' 'harrasses' them they go blubbering to them, comical </'quotation marks'>

^ Not a clue, maybe its finally gotten its prime time slot at 9
I would of said because of Sports Personality of the Year but thats on 1...
Anywho

I think you may find that you are correct, they (sports personality) want no distractions (Top Gear would be a Big distraction) in voting for the non event of the year, it's got to be Lewis hasn't it ? not that I care.
