All I can say about my relatively new ride is that James May liked it, which probably says a lot. On the not totally uncommon occasion that I see another one, it's always being driven by bald (and not shaved) or white haired blokes. I think I almost totally skipped the middle-age-crisis - although I am still interested in a practical, fast machine to be a more workaday car which isn't too huge.

Must be a Panda, or a Scoobie Forester :)

I quite like the Panda 100HP, there's a lot to be said for small 'performance' cars that you can really drive on the road as opposed to something like a Nissan GTR which, on the road, never really get driven anywhere near their potential.

A true 'cock' doesn't drive an M3. He drives a 316 badged as an M3

I disagree. To drive like a true cock you actually do need the power profile of the M3 for starters. The person you refer to is just a w*****.

He doesn't have one. On what must be an old episode I saw on Dave (UK channel which seems to survive on Top Gear reruns) recently, he did gush about it in a way that I agreed with in an uncanny fit. The fact also that it is nearly always driven by a wrinkly as I said above, are irrefutable proofs that I have inexorably descended into oldfartdom.

I was truly shocked to hear that a hybrid does more damage to the enviroment than a Land Rover Discovery!

Well - they didn't mention the travel miles of the Discovery's parts. They also didn't mention how stuff will be recycled. They also drove it around the track to compare which is nonsense, and Clarkson's mention of a diesel getting better mileage leaves out the fact that diesel generates more elements of undesirable pollution than a petrol engine mile for mile, especially for stop-start motoring.

Electric motors and all the batteries needed to power are very heavy, it is extra weight to shift

That is so true! Why don't more people understand this. Its so much more fun to hustle round a small light sports car with comparatively low power, low grip and low inertia. It is easy to push it to its limits and beyond and have big fun at sensible legal speeds. All i ever hear from supercar owners are moans about other slow traffic on the roads, speed cameras, car parks etc + they don't come alive until you are traveling at ridiculous velocities. IMO the perfect recipe for 4 wheel fun is: less than 700kg, 100-150hp, mid or mid/front engined and rear wheel drive.

I agree. That's why i'd love to own a Smart Roadster. It's like a little go-cart for the road. Too bad it has a crap automatic gearbox :(

I'd love a BMW 1-Series coupe (123d) too or maybe something else nimble like a lotus elise :D

Try one. I'm pretty sure most people couldn't live with it on a day-to-day basis: too raw and uncompromising. But if you can live with it it's ace. The MX-5 is a serious contender. OK, it's quite a bit heavier, but it's amazingly fun to drive...

You're right about the elise, but it would be fun to drive. The MX-5 would definately be a much more friendly alternative. Maybe even an MR2. I wouldn't mind one of those BMW Z4's either (even if they are a bit ugly).

The last generation MR-2 is actually less practical than an Elise. It's got no boot. The Elise has a usable boot. In real terms larger than the MX-5. The MX-5 is a great car and seriously under rated. I really liked mine, but I like the Elise I replaced it with more :D

I think i'll stick with the 1 series so :D Maybe in convertible form!

Stick with the tintop. Convertibles that where not designed as such from the get go (and even some of them that were) have the chassis rigidity of limp celery.

go find yourself a Smart Roadster, they're fantastic. I get 70+mpg to mine and it handles like a go-cart. Yes its a lego box but its great fun and cheap as chips in terms of running costs.:)

Or a Racing Puma. Or, dare I say it, an MX-5

They're not exactly Fiat Panda/Ford Ka class cars are they. :p

Maybe a Renault Spider more like. But with the deflector and a helmet. ;)

Well not exactly, but their similar. The Puma is basically a Fiesta underneath after all. The rear seats in a Ka aren't exactly usable for lots of people so you might as well just have a 2 seater anyway :D

Where is the fun if you wear a helmet! The deflector does all the work for you :D

The Ka is supposed to be a really nippy little car, especially with the bigger engines. I wouldn't really like one though, don't like the look of them.

Get a StreetKa :D
