This is the queue just before I got to the front:

(don't worry, the bottom row is the queue for the O2 store... no idea how many of them actually got a phone but the queue didn't seem to be moving too fast!)

I couldn't believe my luck when I waltzed into the O2 store to find it relatively empty. Then I turned round and noticed that queue outside!

anyone who is there - what's a rough estimate for the time it will take to pick up a reservation from Regent Street if i arrive in the next hr or so? Cheers!

when I turn my iphone on I get the message, waiting for activation, this may take some time

could that be the reason for me having no signal?

my old sim died before i got home and then once i'd registered the new iPhone, it picked up the network and i've been txt'ing and everything without an issue. but i never went to the swapsim website at all. is this because the process was triggered by the O2 network? should i do the swapsim site thing anyway?

so far, no sign of yellow anywhere on the screen (fingers crossed)

i get the signal drop thing, but only if i completely cover the metal bits around the edge. considering that this is the aerial, it's not surprising that you block the signal when holding it that way

i'm not too concerned though - i don't think it would be comfortable to hold the phone like that, especially not while talking on the phone, so i don't think it's the big scary issue that everyone thinks it is. most likely, the iOS4 software is just being overly sensitive to the drop in signal strength, rather than a drop in connectivity.

I'm going to Apple Lakeside after work to collect my reservation, I'm hoping the queue won't be too huge as I'm supposed to be going out this evening! I'm counting down the hours til I can leave.

Just to confirm. My iPhone is affected by the signal problems but I'm right handed so it's not major problem. Loose 02 3G signal and goes to 1 bar after about 15-20 seconds.

I'm officially pissed off now.

Not happy. The thing left the Reading depot at 7 this morning and it's now almost 3pm... TNT.. W.T.F are you doing?!?!?!?!

Do you mind finding out how many bumpers they have in stock and if they have different colours when you go in later today? If they've got them in then I'm thinking of heading over there tomorrow to pick a couple up.

Can't spot any discolouration and the reception is not too bad but at work (MK) it's patchy on o2 anyway and will give it a go tonight around where I live where it is ful 3g.

The display is razor sharp you have to see it to believe it.

Early days yet but very impressed so far.

iPhone 4 - quick thoughts on it are fantastic in comparison to my 3G. Quick, screen is brilliant and just overall a much better phone.

Manchester Arndale - not so good. I understand these things take time, but from being let in at 6.50, and to not getting out of there until gone 10.30, I think is pretty poor, especially when they started letting out "non-reserved," line through at 8AM. I was only 20 or so people down the line too!

I might be in a bad mood through lack of sleep (31 hrs and counting so far!), arriving in Manchester at 3AM to find about 5 people waiting there, when I'd read, and been told, that there was likely going to be a lot more!

thats because the uni's have finished for summer and all the students have gone home........I guarentee that had this been any other time of the year, there would of been dozens of students waiting there at 3am.

Only black bumpers in stores today. Trafford centre store had plenty of bumpers and I'd imagine lakeside would be the same. Well worth picking one up.

Anyone wanting to go on Three:

I had a carrier settings update as soon as I connected to iTunes - all updated and there appears to be no extra charge for tethering!

If this is true then this has well and truly sealed the deal.

Early this morning I was planning to get one in Tesco or on Orange, but since 3 have come out with their tariffs I'm going to buy SIM free and use one of their monthly SIM only packages. Have placed an order with Apple, don't mind waiting a few weeks.
