Bought one last weekend from Tesco on contract in the end.
Went to O2, carphone warehouse nearby, none of them had any in stock (16GB Model) decided to phone Tesco, and they said they didnt know if their stores had stock, as they didnt online.

Phoned my local Tesco, and they had loads of them! Couldnt believe it.

Switched from a Pre to iPhone 4 (before Pre, I used a iPhone 3G) and have to say, I'm well impressed!

I gave in...

Orange, 250mb of free internet, 1000 text a month

No Contract, £450.

£450 sounds like a good deal to me but this Orange tariff you've got sucks a little don't you think? 250MB?

Edit: Then again, maybe you won't need any more that 250MB. How much do you need to top up to get all that? Any inclusive, any network minutes?

So I kinda couldn't wait and was eagerly checking UPS tracking info, many times. Probably too many, but, well I wanted my iPhone. I checked it just past 5pm and noticed that there was added exception to my order saying that at 16:44: THE CUSTOMER WAS NOT AVAILABLE ON THE 1ST ATTEMPT. A 2ND ATTEMPT WILL BE MADE. I thought - WTF!? So I called UPS and lady told me that she would get back to me after she called the driver. Apparently 'he came by, rang a bell and left yellow slip'. This is what she told me, exact words. Thing is I live on the 3rd floor in block of flats and there is intercom with loads of 2 pound coin size buttons, each, with huge numbers engraved on them, at least it was there last time I checked. I've never heard anyone calling and definitely don't have 'Sorry we missed you' yellow slip, and anyway how could he do that if he didn't have access to the letterbox, in my door, to my flat, where I was. Hello? Couple minutes later they called me again saying that driver can't redeliver parcel today because he's finished work. So I waited whole day at home, from 9am, took day off, because no-one else could be home, and I wasted the 9 hours just because some tw*t wanted to go home earlier and decided to do what? Tell that he tried deliver but recipient wasn't home? WTF?

And that is why I'm so glad I don't live in a tower block any more. Especially as I couldn't use the intercom. I had to tell all visitors to text me.

My very first iPhone has arrived today at my friends place in the UK, now I just have to wait until he posts it to me tomorrow by DHL, really excited.!

Hi all, can somebody clarify something for me.

I'm currently an O2 customer on the Simplicity Pay & Go tariff. Yesterday I purchased an iPhone4 from an Apple Store and they activated me the O2 Pay & Go micro sim to which we later completed the steps online in the store for my current number to be transferred to the new micro sim. It's over 24 hours now and I'm still awaiting for my current sim to deactivate and the micro sim to activate.

Does it matter the micro-sim was activated as Pay & Go, and not Simplicity Pay & Go, did I require a special Simplicity micro-sim? This is so frustrating not being able to use the iPhone.

It takes up to 48 hours to transfer. In my experience the timing is correct.

To those of you on Tesco Mobile - a question - currently my phone shows the carrier as "O2 - UK" I am also running firmware 4.0.1 I keep getting prompted with a "carrier update available". The current update I have is 7.0 (about/settings) What I want to know is if doing the carrier update or upgrading to 4.1 causes the name to change from "O2 - UK" to "Tesco"? The name change definitely happens - I'm just curious as to which one causes the name change.

...and on another note - boy this thread really died! I guess everyone in the Uk has their iPhone 4 then :p lol

Yeah rite! I was/am still waiting for Tesco to get some stock in. Getting to the point where it'll be worth waiting for iP5.

Where are a Tesco getting their stock from? O2 returns? No way to run a supply chain. :-(

Yeah, I kinda got mine and totally forgot to post here, as if anyone was interested. But hey, here I am. I got mine 2-ish weeks ago and it's awesome. This is my first iPhone so I still find myself being confused with all that syncing stuff, duplicated phonebook entries etc., but I'm getting there.

4.1 does the visual improvement.

Yes. 4.1 update changes 02 to Tesco. If you Jailbreak you can change it to whatever you like with FakeCarrier app.

Anyone having trouble connecting to Apple at the verifying update stage?

I was already rocking 4.2, I've successfully downloaded 4.2.1 via iTunes, it extracts it okay, but then repeatedly says "iPhone software update server could not be contacted at this time". It's annoying me now as it's been doing this for 2 hours now.

bloody glass broken - ended up having to take action

1. it took me ages and ages to get the original iphone delivered. Problems in inventory, delivery companies. It cost me 2 working days and an eventual pick up from DHL

2. ordered glass panel from amazon that took 5 days to arrive, only to find after phone surgery by myself, that the digitizer and lcd are inseparable from the glass panel.

3. send it for repair, got lost, got found, glass panel not in inventory, STILL not RETURNED.

Got so fed up, set up www.wewaitforyou.co.uk. Took me a few days, HAH, but still no iphone so what else to do !!!

Set up FB group 2 days back. Search for 'we wait for you' and/or Alex Hoff.. (just tried this doesn't find the group.. sorry have to post the group here.. http://www.facebook.com/hoff.alexander?v=wall#!/pages/We-Wait-For-You/169634286392735

Surely I can't be the only one so fed up with this problem that I've found a service which could be useful for everyone of the forum.

On the barricades !

So has anyone in the UK had their iPhone converted to a white model? Considering doing it to mine, anyone got any experiences with doing this?
