I would love the SS with pink modern buckle, however from day one have said I will be getting the Aluminium with white sport band seeing as it's first gen...then I felt like I would be disappointed with the matt finish, so convinced myself I should get the SS with white sport band.

I then realised that over the course of two years the Aluminium sports would cost me $AU20.80 per month, the SS sport would be $AU33.30 p/m and my dream watch, a mere $AU45.80! There's not a lot in it in the scheme of things, huh?!

All three are tagged in my favorites, I still have no idea what I will preorder on the day!

My mother gets all my hand me down gadgets. She would love the apple watch but she cannot wear aluminum. Her skin reacts with it over time.
Never heard of anyone having aluminium allergy before (literally, never :)), but there's a first for everything...!

Anyway, your mum should be in luck, as the Apple Watch Sport is anodized aluminium; it's a ceramic compound (alu oxide, specifically) and not pure aluminium metal. Humans shouldn't react to this, and even in the odd case that someone does you don't really be touching the aluminium bits of the Watch while wearing it; the rear of the Sport model is actually almost entirely plastic.

Then again, even if you brush against the surrounding alu, you can just coat the exposed metal bits of underside with clear nail polish with no ill effect. Just don't paint over the pulse sensor windows and you should be OK... ;)

Ideally I would have the 42mm SS black with a black leather loop. That would mean buying an overpriced metal black link bracelet I'd never use and spending double the cost of my iPad Air 2 128Gb on a little toy. No chance.

Space Grey sport and black band with normal watch strap adapter for me so I can use leather straps or a black milanese loop for £30ish.

My wife would ideally want a rose gold one with pink leather strap, no chance. White banded sport for her.

I've never worn aluminum as part of a jewelry piece before. I don't have any known metal allergies yet, but I do tend to become allergic to a lot of things eventually. Perhaps this is a topic for a new thread but how exactly does the reaction to aluminum manifest over time?

I have had an Orient Quarts with sapphire crystal since I was 16 and it's been really tough. It's been scratched over 30 years but not cracked. I was extremely tough on it.

It's not so much she is allergic as it is she has some kind of weird acidic reaction with cheaper metals where the finish will wear off. She doesnt have any skin reaction on her side. It's the strangest thing. I've seen it happen to a few pieces of cheaper jewelry she's bought. The only metals she hasn't reacted to are gold and stainless steel, that she's attempted to wear of course. I forgot the aluminum is anodized. She might be able to wear it. Clear nail polish might be a good idea for when I pass it along.

My favorite is SS with link bracelet but I'll most likely buy SS with black sport band for now. I'll consider buying separate link bracelet later.

So torn between

1. 42mm Space Grey Sport with black sport band
2. 42mm Stainless with black sport band (get other bands later on)

I would go the extra $200, but I have this nagging thought that it is "gen 1" don't spend too much. With Apple Care+ and tax the SS is around $750, vs $530 for sport. I wish I knew the product life cycle with this thing.

I might try and buy both, and than once I have them decide which to keep.

I'm pretty much in the same boat. I was set on the 42mm SS with black sport band and an additional band either the Milanese loop or leather loop. As its a first generation product and no doubt I will be upgrading to the next version as soon as it is available I'm thinking I might be better off getting the 42mm space grey sport model with the black sport band. Again though I don't know what Apple is looking at regards the product life cycle and the release of newer models. Decisions decisions .... hmmm....

God I hope that I can secure that preorder!

please, no one for the 38mm Space Grey Sport version! lol

I keep going back and forth on the following:

Silver Aluminum + White Plastic Band + Black Plastic Band = $449
Space Gray Aluminum + Black Plastic Band = $399
Silver Stainless Steel + Black Plastic Band $599

I do not want that White Plastic Band, I feel the Space Gray will scratch with wear and tear, and Stainless Steel (do I really want to pay $600 for a watch).

I need to decide soon..

I think it might look like the color of the leather iPhone case.

That hadn't occurred to me. I don't know why. I think that color will look good, but if the leather isn't higher quality (I assume it will be). It'll get dirty very quickly.

Argh. Decisions!

I know. I have the pink leather phone case, and it looks awful already. I'm worried about buying a light-colored watch band for that reason.

I guess that brown one is looking better all the time. Maybe I should just go back to the Milanese. I think I wanted it originally. Argh.

Oooh! You live near me. I'm in Cary. :)

I thought about the milanese loop too...I am never going to figure out what to buy!

Oh wow...small world! I was just in Cary today.

My plan is to log in to the app and buy the first one that pops into my head that I can get with delivery on the 24th.

Unless there are absolutely none of them available that I like.

Fortunately, I do like a good many combinations.

I'd go for some of the modern buckle ones, or the Milanese. I figure at least ONE of them will be available.

I hope.

:D

MR has a pretty good contingent of members from the Triangle area or so I've observed over the years.

Good plan! I need to do something like that too.

I'm going to have to keep a lookout to see who else from the Triangle I can spot on here. :)

My main watch will be the 42mm SS with Link bracelet but I just noticed that the green sports band is an exact match for my new work shirt. The shirts are a wild Hawaiian print with that shade of green as the main color. The green band will be great with that.

Think I'm gonna go with what I've always wanted: 42mm SS with link bracelet. Just figured I should get what I want instead of settling and regretting it.

Definitely gotta get a black sport band too for workouts.

Sport / Silver Aluminum / Green Sport Band / 42mm

That's my choice, looks like it maybe not too popular so I'm hopeful of getting it delivered on release day! Will also buy a Milanese Loop band, but not straight away.

I will be going for the Stainless Steel Apple Watch 42mm with a White band and also purchase a green band. Also later in I will buy a 3rd party Milanese or Link :)

The afternoon before pre-orders and these numbers add up to about:
44.5% apple watch sport
54.5% apple watch
1% apple watch edition

+1 for the Sport / Space Gray Aluminum / Black Sport Band / 38mm

38mm has been known to look best on my wrist size of ~155mm.
