Well I'd love a rose gold edition watch with the rose gray modern buckle or the yellow gold with the red band. In the abstract...just looking at it on the web site or on a much taller model's wrist, those colors make the watches appeal to me as classic and fashionable. My reality, financial concerns aside, is that either of them would look absolutely ridiculous on me in any circumstance, unfortunately. I'm too tiny to carry off any Apple Watch well. No matter what I choose, at just a short distance I'm going to look like I'm wearing A clunky old man's 1980's Casio digital watch.

I currently have only $300 socked away that is not earmarked for anything in particular. If I throw this money at an an Apple Watch during the preorder period, I'll be getting a silver bodied sport watch in a blue or white band.

If I wait to the end of the year, I can get a silver colored Stainless Steel with a brown modern buckle leather band which is my preferred model after the completely out of reach gold Edition models. But given that I'll look silly no matter what I choose, it probably makes sense to get the cheapest option. Or avoid mirrors, cameras, and overly critical friends. ;)

The one I'd love is the silver stainless steel with link bracelet, but at £800+ there is no way I'd be buying it.

I'm probably going to go for a Sport with a white band, but undecided on size. If I prefer the 38mm, I may compromise and go for the stainless steel model with the same strap - though at £180 more it's still hard to justify. If I prefer the 42mm, I'll go for the Sport then pick up a black or blue leather loop at some point down the line.

In any case, it's going to be more than or nearly double the price than I've ever paid for a watch before. But I have been setting aside cash for a while now, and have about £450 which I've budgeted for the watch. Eek.

Which do you want? Which one will you get?

Im torn between 42mm SS with Milanese Loop (699) or 42mm Sport with white band (399)

The sport w/ white band is more practical, cheaper, and lighter and goes with casual outfits and the gym and also can go with nicer clothes. The color also matches my iphone and rMBP and airport express. the aluminum with black screen is very "apple" imo.

the SS is flashy, shiny, "better" materials etc, but i feel that it would clash with casual clothes, would be a target when im walking at night or in a bad area, and its also probably heavy and invasive for exercise/gym. its also 300 dollars more. I also dont know how strong the magents on the loop are. but i really like the look of it and it was my original gut feeling decision on which one i want.

ill probably go with the sport, and then for gen2 ill upgrade to an SS model. I'd also be open to getting a milanese loop with the sport, i think it looks good.

I'm also going with the 42mm sport with white band. I also want to see what they come up with for gen 2 so I don't feel like spending the $600 right now.

It would be awesome if they put sapphire on the sport in the future. I like the look of the matte aluminum much better then the mirror finish SS, plus it'll look cleaner without all those fingerprints all over it.

I'm very seriously considering 38 mm space grey aluminum. I feel like the 42 mm might be just too big, not having a huge wrist (although, large hands..we'll see at :apple: store how the touch screen fares). I like the silver aluminum, but I feel like it might stand out as cheap for a watch/wearable device. I'd pick up the Milanese loop later down the road. Stainless looks great, but not enough for me to plunk down the extra cash.

My gut feeling was the 38 mm ss with Milanese loop. This turns out to be 4 mm to short for my 184 mm wrist. Now I'm torn between 38 mm ss with white sport band or the 42 mm with either the white sport or the Milanese. Honestly for first gen I would probably be ok with getting a sport model with white band. However I'm thinking ahead. My mother gets all my hand me down gadgets. She would love the apple watch but she cannot wear aluminum. Her skin reacts with it over time. So I'll be nice and get the ss now so she have it when I upgrade.

The only other thing I'm concerned about is the screen. I currently have a fitbit flex and I bang it all the time, which is fine since it's encased by silicone. I know sapphire is more scratch resistant but I'm concerned about cracking it.

I'd love the SS with blue leather loop or milanese, however i'm getting a white sport. Can't really justify the extra $300 for just a shinier watch.

Well what I *want* is either an 18K Rose Gold Case with a Rose Gold Modern Buckle OR a Stainless Steel case with the Milanese Loop.

However, it looks like I'll just be getting a Sport with rubber band :D

What's your second choice if you can't get the 42mm Space Gray? My second choice is to buy the 42mm Silver Aluminum and then buy a black Sport Band separately at launch or maybe a little down the road. I REALLY hope that Apple made enough 42mm Space Gray watches though, seeing as they make up almost 30% of all buyers.

2nd choice? Why would you go with a 2nd choice if you can just wait a few weeks and get your 1st choice? Especially if your 1st choice is the space grey or the space black? The band you can change, the watch case you cannot. Which is why I almost understand going with a 2nd choice if you want plain aluminum or ss, because you can always change the band later... almost.

Not to mention, I wouldn't be so quick to jump on a 2nd choice if my expectation was to get it on release day given what happened with the iPhone 6 preorders. when I preordered my iPhone 6+ at 3:05 am EST, my delivery date was supposed to be on the release date and I didn't end up getting it until almost 3 weeks later. Definitely worth the wait, and I wouldn't have been as happy with any other phone configuration.

I would love to have the rose gold with rose gray modern buckle, but I don't think I'd ever pay that much for a watch like this even if I had the money.

I am torn between the 42 mm space gray aluminum with black sports band, 42 mm SS with black sports band, and the 38 mm black SS with black modern buckle. I like the modern buckle, but I want the larger size (it's very frustrating Apple didn't make all the watch bands available for each size). With the larger size, there aren't really any bands I like, so I don't know if I want to spend the extra money for the SS.

That rose gold is gorgeous. I wish they had the rose gray modern buckle in stainless instead of the lighter pink one. I'll probably go light pink, though.

I have about 4-5 different choices that I like, so I figure at least one of them will be available right away. I guess this is a benefit of being indecisive. LOL.

I would LOVE the rose gold with the rose grey modern buckle. I will be getting the ss with the pink leather modern buckle. At 1/10 the cost it won't even feel like settling. It will feel like sanity ruled the day.

Not to criticize Apple, but stainless steel has been standard to just about every watch makers, including cheap or moderately priced watches (Seiko, Citizen). It's aluminum that's really cheap. The only reason why Apple went with aluminum is that Apple has been playing around with it on their laptops and iPhones for a while for its lightness, so they stuck with it on the base model. The normal model is actually stainless steel.

But of course Apple doesn't want to call the base model "base model". Comparing to cars, base model vs sports model, it just sound cheap and economical, which doesn't fit Apple's image.

But then Apple doesn't want to call it the Luxury Edition, instead, just Edition. They don't want to alienate 99% of the population.

Call it whatever you want. At the end of the day, as long as you're handing them your wallet, it's just business.

But my god, Apple is milking it! $1100 for the most expensive stainless steel, compare to the aluminum one. It's almost 3 times more expensive just for material difference.

I WANT the silver aluminum :apple: Watch sport with black band, but, since that's not an option, I will settle for the white band with a possible later purchase of the black sport band and a Milanese loop.

I've been flip flopping for 2 weeks between the Space Black and the standard SS with classic buckle, 80% gonna go with the Space Black and a extra Black Sports Band.

I want and will probably get the 38mm SS with milanese loop. I also will pick up the sport band for when I am in gym clothes.

The button hole on the sport band really concerns me though. I really think it will stretch over time and not fit. I was originally going to get the classic buckle, but I can get the milanese loop and sport band for the same price.

I've never worn aluminum as part of a jewelry piece before. I don't have any known metal allergies yet, but I do tend to become allergic to a lot of things eventually. Perhaps this is a topic for a new thread but how exactly does the reaction to aluminum manifest over time?

I have had an Orient Quarts with sapphire crystal since I was 16 and it's been really tough. It's been scratched over 30 years but not cracked. I was extremely tough on it.

What I want. Rose gold watch with rose modern buckle. What I'll get SS watch with milanese band.

So torn between

1. 42mm Space Grey Sport with black sport band
2. 42mm Stainless with black sport band (get other bands later on)

I would go the extra $200, but I have this nagging thought that it is "gen 1" don't spend too much. With Apple Care+ and tax the SS is around $750, vs $530 for sport. I wish I knew the product life cycle with this thing.

I might try and buy both, and than once I have them decide which to keep.
