How come the Terminal command didn't work for me? I even installed x11 as was instructed by Terminal. Pls. help. :)

Which screen brand do I have?

This is what I get from the terminal command:
Color LCD
LSN154YL01-A01
DLM3465019XFF0QA3

Which screen brand do I have?

There is no way currently of figuring out the screen manufacturer for the 13" rMBP's. The terminal command is only for the 15". There has been countless threads and posts about this already. I'm sure when someone figues out how to tell you will see the thread. What does it matter? If you are not happy with your screen return it..if you are happy don't look for problems and enjoy it.

This is what I get from the terminal command on my 15" Late 2013 rMBP:
Color LCD

Which screen brand do I have?

Thanks in advance!

I'm glad I found this thread. I was about to purchase a new 13" rMBP but seeing this is still a major problem that still has never been addressed by Apple I have decided to just keep my mid 2009 MBP. It might not be a retina display but the screen still looks fine after 4.5 years of use and has no major problems such as IR.

Well, I have a LG 60 inch plasma from 2011 with IR. It's really, really annoying. It takes days for the channel logos in top right and left corners to go away. It's an amazing TV otherwise.

someone can help-me why I didn't get response from command?

MacBook-Pro-de-canzil:~ canzil$ ioreg -lw0 | grep \"EDID\" | sed "/[^<]*</s///" | xxd -p -r | strings -6
MacBook-Pro-de-canzil:~ canzil$

I hit enter*return* and nothing happen!

thanks

OK, here's my concern. I did the test on my NEW 13" RMP and it does have the image retention issue. Now it seems to go away after a few seconds. So is this something to really be concern with or is just OCD? A lot of people here are much smarter than me so I hope you guys can help.

Because people almost never post here if they do not have any issues:
I have a Haswell MacBook Pro with 750m and an LG Screen. Just tested it by showing the chess pattern and a website for an hour. After that I switched to a gray background and did NOT see any retention at all.

No yellow image, very clean. Absolutely stunning display. Just veeery slight yellow cast on the bottom left and a magenta cast on the upper right but just barely visible with maximum brightness while showing a black image in a dark room. I never use my rMBP in a dark room with full display brightness since this would burn my eyes, so I do not really see the point of this test! It is very slight anyway and not noticable in any normal usage scenario. But my SSD makes strange sounds...something has to be wrong, right? :)

Just got a new RMBP with model # 0000A020. Same issue. :(

Genius bar ran their test on both machine which to them, no issues. But when I shut down the system I can still see my Dock and the Mavericks wallpaper on both machines.

The local Apple store ran their checkered pattern test then had it switch to a black background. Obviously nothing came up. I showed them the same checkered pattern test then had it switch to a gray background and it showed IR. They said they wouldn't replace the screen because that was in spec...what do you guys think?

That was a few months back, now I've sent it to Apple thru a mail in repair and I hope that they see that I see IR everyday on my laptop.

Terminal command to check display maker isn't working on my 13" MBP with retina. :(

I noticed when I log OFF, I see remnants of OS X Mavericks just before screen goes black. Is this normal?

It's software bug - the screen doesn't completly fade out to grey before turning off. I have it too. It's not a big deal though.

LG SJA1 Screen in HASWELL High End Retina MacBook Pro (Late 2013). Image Retention visible after long period of time (1 hour). BUT this issue reportedly gets worse over time, so I will send it back. :(

AppleCare in Houston Texas just told me that the repair was completed waiting additional testing with a brand new screen being swapped on. Wish me luck with no image retention guys!

Hi all,

I'm so glad I came across this forum and thread. Thanks everybody for your insights!

Yesterday afternoon I took delivery of a brand new 13" 2.4 8/256 rMBP and immediately ran the marco.org test.

Panel specs are as follows:
A020 screen
Production date: week 4 2013 (provided my calculations are right)

Unfortunately, the screen displayed clear signs of image retention. I refuse to play the display lottery and will return the machine on Monday and switch to a 13" MBA, much to my regret because the retina display is SPECTACULAR.

I may decide to switch back to the rMBP when this issue has been solved once and for all.

How long did the IR lasted in your screen? Do you see any IR on regular usage?

the IR was clearly visible for a couple of minutes at least. Must confess I didn't really time it as I was annoyed my rMBP was showing IR!

I expect much much more of Apple in terms of product quality. This whole IR issue is outrageous. In addition, replacing defective screens with other defective screens is simply absurd.

Had two mbpr 13 - late 2013, bith had IR, returned and bought mb air... Hope that summer 2014 will bring retina air with no IR
