I got as far as "add device protection" and then my cart showed "null" on the next step. Looks like they filled that loophole QUICK.

I literally just went onto the app and clicked add device, selected the X, chose my options, and then it took me to the confirm order screen. But, I wasn't able to complete the order.
When I go onto the page, it gives:
Preorder begins at 3:01am ET on 10/27/2017
Please return at that time.

I literally just went through the steps to upgrade on the app, like I’ve done countless times for the last few days, but this time it just let me keep going all the way to the end.
Unbelievable, wasn’t even the size I wanted. So now I’m stuck with a 64gb. But the order went through and shows pending in the Purchases menu.

Yep. Keep fingers crossed. Happened with my 7+ order too but it allowed the order at 2:40 a.m. EST.

My guess is that they were testing the order page and decided to do it live now instead of at 2:40 AM, assuming that folks wouldn't be trying right now.
If you do the Verizion payment plan, (Apple Store app) are there any extra steps during checkout, if one's current phone is paid off?
Interesting... tried the first time “select” was grayed out. Tried again “this phone will be available for pre-order soon”. Must’ve just missed it. (Finally gave up trying every combination).
The question is will they honor your orders? Congrats to those who got in!
It was very fast, I was at the checkout page in about 20 seconds..
