My Grandpa dropped his top of the line 17inch macbook pro a few weeks ago... He got a new one and the broken one is mine now.

It fell 4 feet onto cement, everything still works except the latch, and the bezel is all bent out of shape. I keep it closed in a stand and hooked it up to an external monitor. Worked out pretty well for me i guess.

I dropped my 5th gen iPod (favorite ever), it was in a case but of course it happened to land on one of the two corners that the case didn't cover. My little sister dropped the powerbook I gave her on to concrete and dented/scratched up the corners a bit. My roommate drops his phone at least a dozen times a day and complains loudly when he has to get a new one from Verizon. Idiot.

I dropped my ipod classic 80gig on asphalt, damaged the hold button but other then that still works fine

I dropped my iBook G4 way back when and had to replace the bottom case. My wife has dropped both of her iPhones (1st gen and 3G) :(

I've dropped my old school 3G iPod more times than I can count...and it still runs fine despite being 5 years old. I dropped my iBook G4 and 12" PB a few times each, though always while they were in soft cases and never with any damage.

Being a waiter in the summer also means I've dropped PLENTY of glassware, sometimes spectacularly (rack of 25 white wine glasses anyone?). I'm not particularly clumsy....it's just a question of proportions: if you drop 0.5% of all glasses you ever carry and you only carry 5 glasses per day where I carry 200, I break way more than you. ;)

Yeah, I know.

My friends $200 bong he just bought:( I felt much worse when he said "meh its just glass no biggie". I did buy him the exact replacement the next day with a little sumthin to put in it;)

I had my iPod touch under my hat on the counter. my brother swiped the hat off of the counter, sending the ipod flying 5-6ft off the ground. Case got destroyed, but the ipod is ok.

3 months ago, rushing from one office to another across London, ran down the escalator at Bank tube station. No worries, macbook safely inside its sleeve in my backpack. Or so I thought.

Side zip was open.

Macbook and sleeve fell out, sleeve was unzipped, macbook fell out of sleeve, bounced all the way down the escalator, and slid across floor at bottom, a fall of about 20m, and my papers flew everywhere. Oops. How embarrassing.

Some of the commuters and businessmen I'd just run past like a prat stopped and kindly helped to gather up my papers.

Damage - a couple of scratches in the plastic of one corner and that was all. :0 But the HD packed up TWO months later - maybe related? I'm typing this on the same macbook now with a new 500GB HD.

Other drops - iphone onto tarmac many times, often face down. No scratches on glass. Then 3 weeks ago, one drop onto a marble floor from a tiny 12 inches up. Result: two new scratches on the glass :(
