Does anyone know where to find performance scores for this machine against others? ie/ last gen macbook pros, Power macs etc?

Cheers.

anybody notice the difference in screen quality between the 2.0Ghz whitebook and the recent 2.13Ghz ones? I visited the mac store and am fairly certain they are a lot better. The blacks seem to be very even across the screen as apposed to washing out at the bottom.

bought mine late march love it no problems what so ever gonna get some more ram because i need it for guitar rig/garage band and parallels:rolleyes:

i just bought the new white macbook two days ago. it's my first mac! i love it. the sales people at the apple store rave about what a deal it is, it's almost exactly compatible to the aluminum internally; the alu is just a BIT faster.

i love my new macbook :)

You'd think Apple could take a hint from the popularity of the white Macbook. Though in classic Apple way they'll axe it tomorrow.

While reading this thread I saw a few ordered replacement harddisks - is the harddisk in the white Macbooks user-replaceable as in the unibodies? Or are we talking about classic 'dismantle the whole thing and void the warranty' way here?

No it's very easy.

I've just installed 4GB of ddr2 800mhz (kingston) on my nvidia whitebook and I'm very happy :) hehehe.

I've had the same question but the other way: are the uMBs as easy to replace stuff on as the whitebooks?

Unless it's not possible, I would like my next laptop to be another whitebook. Me gusta mucho.

The hard drive is slightly easier to replace on the unibody MB because all it requires is popping off the battery cover, loosening a single screw, undoing the metal holders that screw into the drive frame, and installing the new drive.

As for the RAM, it is slightly more involved only because there is no L-bracket like there is on the White MB that allows you to access the RAM through the battery cover. The L-bracket on the White MB does require the loosening of some screws. You have to remove some screws on the bottom of the machine (not that many) to get to the main guts of the computer and pop out the RAM.

I bought my first ever Mac exactly one week ago today.
Im very happy with my 2.13 white macbook. I've noticed some little things, the lid sits hardly a mm out of alignment when closed, so it sticks out a little on the right hand side, you notice when you run your hands along the side.

Also the track pad is not level the left hand side is near to flush with the body and the right is slightly lower.. anal i know but still.

But today I discovered a dead pixel, if i bring the screen right up to my face it seems to be a pinky red colour (is that a stuck pixel?), also I'm Australian so its Colour not color haha. If im not mistaken I have 14 days to return the laptop could someone confirm this for me. Im going to leave it and see what its like in the morning. The amount I paid for it considering I work part time 5 hours a week, it was alot of money for me. My eyes are continuously drawn to it.

Have a pretty good guess on how you feel... Sadly, Apple quality ain't no longer what it used to be.

Get it exchanged if you're not happy with it now. It'll just keep bugging you. You should be able to expect a flawless machine for the steep prices we all pay for Mac hardware.

Best of luck!

Something else I forgot to mention, the screen occasionally turns off for maybe a second for no apparent reason, I assume this isn't standard Mac operations, but i have to ask this is my first one.

Thanks for the quick reply

Display sleep ( screen goes black you have to move trackpad to get it back) ? Mine goes into display sleep in less than a minute.

No its not that, i put a cd in earlier this evening and the screen turned off for a second and came back on whilst i was clicking and using the trackpad

I, too, would suggest to bring it to your nearest Apple Store to have it looked at and more than likely have it replaced, if not fixed.

Just in relation to the thread topic, I'm loving my early 09 macbook and should be upgrading to 4gb RAM soon!
