Mine has a definite yellow tint (923 online order from Apple) especially on a white background (whites look more "bone" or "eggshell" white) but the colors are more vivid than my bluish 2g...I took my 3GS to the Geniuses and they compared it to their own 3GS phones and one guy said his was more yellow, another said mine was slightly more yellow then his and a third said he saw no difference...
Anyway, they offered me a white boxed "remanufactured" unit and said we can't guarantee it will be any better. I opened the remanufactured 3GS and decided to hang on to mine until some newer units arrive (it just seemed silly to exchange a brand new2 unit for a "refurb" that i have no idea if it is an improvement). I've grown somewhat accustomed to the yellow tint now unless it is next to some other 3GS with truer whites...
There are no remanufactured 3GS units yet. The ones in the white boxes are new ones, with new serial numbers.
That may be, but the Genius told me it was "remanufactured"...he seemed very helpful and was happy to do the swap...
He was wrong about them being remanufactured. How the hell do you refurb or remanufacture thousands of white box phones for a model which just hit the stores less than a week ago?
If the serial number starts with an 8xxxx, it is a new unit, not a refurb, refurbs start with 5xxxx.
My swapout and every other swap out of everyone here at Mac Forums has been an 8xxxx serial number unit, I don't believe any 5xxxx for the 3GS even exist at this time and won't for at least another month or two.
Could it be the coating on the screen thats giving the yellowish look?
They said that about the 3G. Where did they say this about the 3G S?
Not really. I noticed it immediately, not because my screen was "warmer" but because it looked horrible. Only then did I go compare it to my 3G to see if it was actually different or it was just me.
Look at this picture and tell me this is both "slightly" warmer, and normal:

Neither of those is really "color accurate" but the 3G S, at least mine, looks like a dirty window, not "warmer."
My screen has the yellow screen problem. All 4 aplle stores are sold out of 16gb white..
I'm thinking about keeping as insurance for accidental damage. But I don't want a refurbished.
Should I have it replaced asap?
One might have a thicker coating on, it or maybe the batch wasn't mixed right. If that were true then why would two 3GS held side by side and photographed exhibit completely different color temperature? One white and the other pee yellow?
JUST WOW!!!![]()
Is there anyone out there with perfectly nice white screen 3GS?
Or has Apple made a big FAIL with these piss yellow screens???
Best bet is to call apple and tell them. They will overnight you a phone.
Ok. Just wanted to say that my 3GS does have a warmer look than my 3G.
And I don't care.
For all of you who do, wow, that must really suck.
Does anyone know if the screen looks yellow with the white on black feature turn on?
Does anyone know if the screen looks yellow with the white on black feature turn on?
Where is that feature to be found?
Its only on the 3gS, General - Accessibility - White on Black
