I saw a post like this in the archives so lets get it going again

What do you think is the worst mac or mac peripheral ever made dating back to the dawn of apple?

My answer is a tie between the Opaque iBooks with the awful Logic Board Problems or the AppleTV (An Overprice Base Station running Front Row)

While the ridiculous glut of Performa models was a dark time™, I have to go with the G3 iMac's hockey puck mouse as the Worst. Apple. Product. Ever.

The AppleTV is not really a Mac, and it is not a base station. It does not function as a base station, plus it has a CPU and an HDD... It's really not too bad of a price either, at $299.

I am the only one who liked that mouse?

Nope. In fact, when I was searching for a used iMac G3, I wouldn't take one without the original mouse and keyboard. :)

The white iBook G3's had their problems, but were very good computers overall.

IMO, the worst one ever was the beige PowerMac G3. Uuuuuuugly.

So i'm not that crazy after all :). I even used my hockey puck with my MBP for some time, at least until I got my MX Revolution.

Ughhh...Power Macintosh 5260's. Worst. Product. Evar. Between the network problems, bus problems, plus the fact they were just slow as ****, they stanked, bad.

And my school still, to this day, has several in operation. Scary stuff.

I have to agree- the hockey puck was nice. I liked the little keyboard even better!! It took so little space.

For me I have to say the worst mac is the beige tower.

The All-in-One Power Macintosh of the early/middle 90's. God those things were ugly, slow, and ran a really annoying OS that makes XP and Vista look beautiful! I too, hated the puck mouse. What a piece of crap.

Is that a problem? I'm not the worst person ever and....

But, in all sincerity, I would have to say that the Apple III was the worst Apple product ever to be released, followed at a close second by Mac OS 10.0.x and then 10.5.x.

Its $229 now, and i think its a great product.

Edit: IMO the Power mac 5400 is the worst Mac

I have to agree that the first generation Macbook was disappointing for one reason to me. The first time I ever used a Mac was in school back in 04. I fell in love with os x right away. I saved up my money, and bought a first gen Macbook. It was plagued with problems, but I still loved every second that it worked properly. It eventually was stolen from me, but I promptly replaced it with a blackbook, and now my Mom, My sister, her husband and my wife are now Mac users.

two things...

1) The crap-tastic screens they put into 12" PowerBook G3 Wallstreet. What the hell were they thinking? They had active matrix screens in previous and even the slightly higher level PowerBooks. For them to slap a pro label on those machines was a crime. The bezel looked like **** too.

2) Not really a product, but more the cripplingly slow 167MHz Bus speed on G4s greater than 1GHz. This ran all the way up to the 1.67GHz PowerBook, and was pretty much the reason for performance taking a beating in the last few years. P4s were hitting 400MHz FSB speeds, and for Apple to lag in this department was a huge weakness.

Other than that, everything is fine!

Worst Mac since the return of Steve Jobs (God...Peace be with him) or pre-RSJ times? because Steve has really done a lot to raise Apple's reputation, especally since the 1990's were nobody, besides the loyalists, saw Apple as a real computer company and/or Apple going to disappear. Since Steve has came back the Mac OS has transformed and so has many of the products. I think there was a paradigm shift when he came back, so we should ask ourselves what was the worse Mac between each shift.

Of recent years... the MDD Power Mac G4.

Why on earth didn't someone with any sense of morals, speak out before unleashing that atrocity of design?
