Performa 6220. Seriously hobbled performance wise due to non-paired memory and truly idiotic nonsense going on with the I/O system that meant modems never ran above 9600 baud. This in 1996!!

Actually, you can scratch off the entire 6200 series. They were all crap.

Worst Apple Product is probably the Apple III.

So, then, we have come to a consensus? Excellent! Apple always screws up when they try to copy PC's for some reason. No, actually, they do a great job. That's the problem.

I really don't know why they decided to make that lemon, anyway. Anyone have a clue?

I had a performa 550 and loved it, also still have a hockey puck mouse along with the 333 it came with.:)

But worst product? they have had a few but i do suspect that Apples water cooled G5s may go down as one given just a litle more leakage...I mean time. BAD IDEA.

Water-cooled G5s? I may have to alert my water-cooling-obsessed-Linux-fanboy-best-friend of that. Hmmm.... You learn something new every day...

Did they actually leak really badly?

While the ridiculous glut of Performa models was a dark time™, I have to go with the G3 iMac's hockey puck mouse as the Worst. Apple. Product. Ever.
I like that mouse. In fact, when my iMac went south, I got rid of it, but kept the mouse. It was such a cool idea. :)

I am the only one who liked that mouse?
Nope, there are others of us who liked it.

This type of thread is so subjective, if it goes on long enough probably every item Apple has manufactured will end up on the list at least once.

If I had to vote, maybe the Cube. But I know some folks love theirs and I am happy for them.

Anyone have any bets on how long this'un will go? It's a great thread idea, I think, but it'll have maybe 5 posts a day in it for the next, say, month, till everyone runs out of ideas. Unless, of course, someone sparks a heated debate. I'm actually kinda surprised that hasn't happened yet...

Don't be dissin' the Cube.

Its $229 now, and i think its a great product.

Edit: IMO the Power mac 5400 is the worst Mac

We had those at school and they were fugly, slow, and unreliable.

I would say the worst modern mac would be the disgusting blue case of the PM G3 or the plain old ugliness of the eMac.

Eh, I'd have to disagree about my beloved server. On the other hand.... those eMacs were so FUGLY!!!!! They say "I am an eyesore, I know, but please don't hurt me."

The worst Mac ever is always, let me repeat, always,

the upgrade that comes out right after you buy yours.

I'm going to have to agree with this, lol.

My last post was based upon reliability. For design my least fave would be the G3 Powermac, there's some thing about the teal green plastic that only looks good on an imac g3.

Of recent years... the MDD Power Mac G4.

Why on earth didn't someone with any sense of morals, speak out before unleashing that atrocity of design?

Oh yeah... kinda cheap-looking, especially at the front... noisy as hell, USB 1.1 only. I'm so glad to have got rid of my dual 1.4.

The Beige Mac Tower. Gawd those things annoy the **** out of me. And I should know, there are still a good half-dozen up at my school.

Also the hockey-puck mouse. I think it looked ugly and was even harder to use. Even the current mighty mouse isn't very well designed from an ergonomic/gaming perspective...

I forgot about those eMacs. My school had a fleet of them and they were junk. The looked like an iMac G3 that someone ran through the whites laundry cycle instead on the colors. Also, I loved the cube, except for that stupid button on top. Heat sensitive? Whoever came up with that is probably not working at Apple anymore.

I also forgot to mention Apples Keyboards since they went from beige. The beige keyboards were the best and every keyboard since has been crappy. Bad response, small and boring. Especially the new aluminum ones, yuck.

Hey don't be dissin the MDD. That was my first Mac. I had a single 1.25Ghz, and I loved it! I thought it looked great, especially compared to the PCs I had before it. I threw a USB 2 card, in there and it was a great machine. Some people are still using theirs.

It was supposed to be a business machine. And it could have a been a damn good one.

But apparently someone forgot that computers need vents.

Coulda shoulda woulda. BAH! I meant to say business machine in my post, I can't believe I overlooked that.

And some people are still using G4 Cubes. Doesn't mean it's not a bad computer.

The hockey puck was great, with 1 button, is like the macbook air without disc drive... so great thought

That was our first Mac. It was the family computer - god we hated it. After that, we switched to Windows. Now we're all Mac.:D

Eh, the 6200s weren't so bad...But we sprung for a 6300, instead. I liked my 6300 and 6320 just fine, thank you very much, and as I've said in another thread--they both still run like a charm.

I totally agree with you on the eMac. We've got a bunch of G3 iMacs and then one of those, and the eMac looks as if it got bleached and then beaten with an ugly stick.

And you thought the 5400 was bad? Like I said before, check the 5260. Its actually much worse. (My school has 5400's as well...)

But I actually sort of like the B&W G3. Its one of the first professional computers that anyone really tried to make look...not beige. I'm also rather fond of the huge G3 on the side of it.(Yet another computer that my school has multiple of!)
