That doesn’t count, it is part of the joy of being a parent, and years later when you are a grandparent, the grandchildren come for a sleepover they bring their favourite movies with them.

I think I know Tangled and Frozen by heart, but it makes them happy, and therefore me happy.

I guess. Now my girl is a little older (13) she likes to watch things that are a little better. She (like me) can't stand Frozen. Let it go? Sure did. EBay took care of that DVD for us!

Bravo, well said.

Now, while I have some considerable difficulty in resurrecting what I believe are atrocious movies from the deepest recesses of my mind and memory, I seem to have no difficulty at all in recalling actors whom I deem perfectly dreadful. These are those actors whose mere appearance on screen evokes in me a violent twitching while I plot murder and dream, longingly, of machetes planted in narcissistic skulls.

Kevin Costner and Tom Hanks, please take a bow. I cannot stand the sight of either of you. Anywhere or anytime. Ever.

The worst actors need a dedicated thread.
I know that I am in for an anti-treat once I see Donald Sutherlands loooonnggg face.
I think he might be a likeable guy, but on screen he is boredom personefied.

I generally can't stand Tom Hanks either, but admittedly he's in a few movies where he didn't bother me as much as usual. Cast Away is one such movie.

Another actor that I really can't stand is Will Ferrell. Visions of punching his lights out and ending the movie right there and then flash continuously across my vision whenever he is on-screen.

With one exception: Stranger Than Fiction. That is a good movie which happens to star Will Ferrell.

Feel free to start one, and I'll more than happily participate; if choleric and splenetic venting are the specialties of the internet, I'll happily add a few sentences of choice adjectives to describe the actors whom I detest, and the (perhaps intemperate) reaction they seem to provoke in me….

Delighted to see that someone shares my very low opinion of Tom Hanks as an actor…..

'Punching his lights out'? What a delightful expression - a very good friend of mine uses it regularly, but I thrill to see it in print.

You really have actors cause that kind of reaction in you?
I just know a few that I think are really, really boring and uncharismatic.
Only Jack Black and Seth Rogen are somewhat more annoying than boring.

Tom Hanks seems to cause an adverse reaction in a lot of people.
I just find him boring, again.
There are also those who can't really act but merely always play themselves, like Adam Sandler.

Yes, unfortunately, I do. Not many, and invariably only from the US, but yes, I do.

Granted, the vehemence of my reaction surprised me, too, especially as these two are widely regarded as stars……….

They strike me as narcissistic and somewhat self-indulgent chaps, the sort of guys whose respective egos could do with the psychological equivalent of a diet.

Hmmm, worst movies that I've seen all the way through include "The Last Unicorn" and "The Littlest Angle". Both pretty awfully done movies.

Recently seen on late-night TV (a dim memory in the world of netflicks):

Doom: the film.

Yes "based" in the legendary fps of my Carleton university days in Ottawa - now in ios version on my iPhone and one of a few games that have moved from my 4 to 5 and now 6.

Featuring the talented :p Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Karl Urban (nu-trek Bones) and Rosamund Pike who went on to the much better - so I've heard "Gone Girl."

Yes it was bad not even so bad it was good - but it featured a scene shot in FPS view:

quick picks for me include, dumb and dumber 2, titanic 2 baad bad bad lol( netflix) you can youtube it, bloodrayne(acting), the dukes of hazard movie(took a very family orientated show and turned it to a t-n-a jackass flick, imo in short), latest transformers ( loonng and kinda a stretch of a story)

When I was younger I would have said The Gods Must Be Crazy. I watched it several years later and thought it was excellent.

As a father, having to sit through all three (yes three!) Tinkerbell movies are some of the longest movies I ever had to sit through. The things we have to do...

Then look at the bright side: there are five Disney Fairies ("Tinkerbell") movies, and later this year the sixth will be released. And, for what it's worth, as a father and a movie buff, I quite enjoy those films.

Do you normally judge people so harshly? What has he (Hanks) done or said to make you feel this way?

Is it because he's one of Hollywood's most philanthropic actors?
Is it because he is helped bring Band of Brothers to air? Or From The Earth to the Moon? Or any of the other educational documentaries he's worked on?
Maybe it's because he takes time to meet with fans, pose for photos, and chat?
Is it his support and endorsement of high school drama clubs and theatre, or that of education in general?

He's also, apparently, quite the family man.

All in all, he's a pretty good guy who is known for giving back. "Narcissistic" is not a word normally associated with him

batman and robin

The one with the nipples on the suits?

Transformers age of Ultron.
And one of Bjork when she played a blind woman.
Oh... Stars Wars Episode 1. No one did any good acting in that movie.
And I know the next worst one will be Jupiter Ascending and the new Ghost Busters.

There is nothing objectively wrong with Hanks or Costner. This thread is about subjective impressions and scepticalscribe is probably refering to their style of acting.

There was nothing to indicate that in either post, and there was language to indicate otherwise. But, giving you the benefit of the doubt, how could anyone qualify Hanks' acting style as "narcissistic"?

I watched The French Connection for the first time the other day. I have no idea why that gets so many excellent reviews, but not the worst movie I've ever seen.

There's obviously far too many ultimately crap movies. Usually anything with Adam Sandler other than Happy Gilmore. If I had to pick one of those (not that I've seen all his movies) maybe Click.

A move that deserves a nomination for worst movie ever is A Million Ways to Die in the West. Seth McFarland believes he's a comic genius. He's not.

Oh and probably anything that has Drew Barrymore in it other than ET

12 Monkeys

12 Monkeys was the worst movie ever made...well that and everything the MOCKUMENTRY movie maker made - Michael Moore
