Starship Troopers. If you've ever read the book, you know that this could have been one of the most epic SFX movies ever made.

Clearly you forgot Jim Carrey. I'd take Adam Sadler over him any day!

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind?

Man on the Moon?

The Truman Show?

Yeah, such a bummer, Starship Troopers is one of the canonical sci-fi masterpieces. One of the first few serious/adult books I read when I was like 12-13 or so. I’ve always wanted to see a _good_ version of The Forever War :)

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind?
Thank you for mentioning that one.
I tried to watch that about five times and never could sit through it. What a weird, depressing mess!

I also think Carrey is really bad.

(Except for the Truman Show)

Try a 6th time, it’s outstanding.

I know it's reputation.
That's why I tried watching it 5 times.
The last time a got past the half way mark.
I think it's weird, depressing, uninvolving, uninteresting and the woman in it is really nasty.

It's all a matter of taste ;)

But since I am thinking about bad movies, this one was on netflix the other day and I watched the first 30 minutes:

Yeah, it’s not very conventional, and I completely understand why some people might not like it.

Heck, we just watched Gone Girl, which was critically acclaimed, and I found the tonal shifts, character motivations, plot logic a bit loopy (and if it’s meant as parody, it’s not done very well).

Hahaha, no argument. :D

Had to shut off/up "guardians of the Galaxy" after 35 minutes tonight, what a mess of want-to-be-cocky-humour. I should have known as soon as he started to dance through the intro... Ouch.

I liked that film so much, I watched it twice in a row :)
I also liked the Love Guru and saw it for a third time yesterday.

I recall three to four films I had issues with over the last decade.

Lost In Translation - Just BORING! It was SO hard to get through. Aside from being boring there was nothing directly wrong with it.

No Country For Old Men - *^*Q^%Q)Q*%^)*%^*Q)#%^Q!#%!_#(%&!(_$*!@()$7()%&!* I hated this film! What a pile of pretentious junk!

Mist - The ending was REALLY bad

Bug - That was HORRIBLE!

Normally I must see a movie all the way through if I start it, however I have loosened up on that way of thinking. If I am only twenty minutes into a film that is boring me to death why bother. Oddly I could not get too far into Rango, the look was bugging me and it was a bit boring, may try again later.

Now there are movies I enjoy I know are bad yet still entertaining. Shocking as it is I liked Catwoman well enough to see it more then once. Sure it she costume is ridiculous and it is not a well done movie yet entertaining to me.

I just saw a syfy film that is over the top silly yet still entertaining for a B movie.

I loved that flick. :D

Has anyone seen the documentary "Paris is Burning"? Horrible! Had to walk out and wait at a pub for my friends to come out of the theatre.

I loved that movie!!!!

I really like "The Mist" to and I loved the ending. Gut punch to say the least and I am glad they ended it the way they did!

Any of the Twilight movies. I told the wife she owes me big time for having to sit through them! :D

INLAND EMPIRE by David Lynch was quite intolerable... I finished it, but gee I did not like it.

limited to movies i saw in theaters, i would probably say
"the postman" by and with kevin costner. ugh.
the only good part was that i had very, very low expectations going in, so i was only limitedly disappointed.

for similar but opposite reasons, the biggest disappointment (apart from episode one, which is an out-of-contest entry) is probably Aki Kaurismaki's "The Match Factory Girl"

Four pages of posts, and not a single mention of Ishtar. Really, I'm disappointed in you people.

well, not too many movies can claim to have been featured by the best comic strip title ever...

also, one would have to point out that the thread title does specify "the worst movie you ever saw", so that cuts a lot of us out (luckily?) :D
