Why, because people who jumped the gun and bought the 8 are going to feel like idiots?

No because there will be a lot of iphone 10 returns 100%. There will be people who use the plus phones and feel the screen is not as big and spacious, and there will be plenty of people who just aren't ready for all those gestures. Remember the 10...eer X is an early adopter phone, and I think were going to be seeing plenty of people just not ready for that change yet.

I doubt that

Just like the iPhone X would be in low demand because very few people would be willing to pay over $1,000 for a phone! No need for anyone to wake up at midnight to pre-order, just simply walk-in to an Apple Store on launch day and you are all set. Yup, I totally saw that coming

A lot will 100% not be returned. A lot refers to a majority which is just crazy for saying that.

Yes, 100% of the iPhone X's will be returned. You're completely correct on this one.

So many of you in here think you, (we, I) are the majority. The majority are not fanatics, they are regular people who will get sucked into this. Do you know how many people will actually get confused when they open the box and begin playing with the phone and have no idea how to navigate around the phone or how to get home...lol?

No I'm not crazy, I just know the larger percentage of people are not tech enthusiasts! Go ahead tell me they are! They are not, not even close. This is an early adopter phone, next year will be different when it's the norm and people get the hang of there being no home button and swiping all over the place and face ID is fully baked, but right now I doubt the masses are ready for so many changes. And congratulations for getting sucked into the apple hype, I know it's a short supply phone, it's almost 2018 and Apple still can't make enough phones? Please...it's called being sucked in. And many people will fall for the hype train, and the ones who did and aren't ready for the changes we are so eager to try and learn will want to go back to what they were used to. Don't be surprised if 8 and 8plus numbers increase after the releases of the X and more and more people get to demo the phones side by side.

Apple devices have always been really straight forward to use and you don't need to be any sort of tech geek to figure them out at all.

I definitely don't think we are the majority by any stretch of the imagination. I know a majority of people will learn the new gestures in just a few days and be content with the X.

Again... this is a huge jump and they have always been straight forward...because of the home button, I don’t think your grasping what a change this is for some people. What’s used more, Android or an iPhone? Yes an iPhone with over whelming numbers because of the ease, take that ease away and watch what happens. You think Apple didn’t see this coming? You think they just made the 8 because it would flop? This was all thought out by very smart people. The X is and will be a science project to see how the masses adont to it, however I can deff see numbers spiking up for 8 sales once the X is hands on in an Apple store. Right now it’s a hype fest, I want the newest thing, etc. My own mom just got an 8 because honestly she wanted no part in getting to learn all the gestures, not having the ease of the home button, etc, is my mom the majority? I wouldn’t go that far, but I think people like her make up a really large portion, and I think a lot of people bought into the hype, and in a few weeks we will see.

You make it sound like people are going from Windows to Mac OS. It's just a few different gestures that is often introduced when you upgrade to a new iOS.

Sure, a few people may but I would imagine it would be 1-5 out of a hundred at most.

Why anyone would line up on a Tuesday for a phone coming out Friday is ridiculous.

It’s for the experience!!

A dumb experience.

I can totally understand the lining up that took place every year before the iPhone 5. However Apple and the carriers are far more proficient at managing the preorder zoo to the extent My online orders ever since have never missed a launch day other then Jet Black 7+ which doesn’t really count.

I did it once for the iPhone 6 and vowed myself to never stand in line again. I froze my ass off and was exhausted for the next few days. Luckily I went with my dad so it was a fun experience, but I'd rather wake up at 3AM and preorder it haha.

Really? Are you saying the vast majority of people are stupid and can't figure out something as simple as a phone and thus will return the X? How did these same people ever figure out how to use a smartphone the first time they switched from a flip phone? How hard is it for someone to get on the internet and watch a video on how to use the X? That is what the vast majority of these people will do. And in less than 10 minutes, they will have it figured out.

I always wonder what people do for work that can afford to wait for 3 days in line for a phone.

My preorder went great this year (getting it the morning of the 3rd), but I've camped out almost every year.

I'm a software engineer and can work anywhere I have a signal. So, I camp out and get what work I need done while in line. I also bring power strips, extension cords, hang out with everyone up and down the line. It's actually a lot of fun.

Many people that camp in line rotate in and out with friends/family also and so are not physically there for days on end.

I know people like to float this idea around that people in line are all welfare bums, etc ... but that's not only not the case, it simply makes no sense: these people are waiting to spend a lot of money on a device. They're not poor. Indeed, most years I've camped out (I usually show up really early and am often first in line, or very near the front) the people around me have likewise been engineers, entrepreneurs, etc. Mind you, I'm talking about the people that commit large amounts of time to the line, not necessarily the people that show up early the morning of launch.

Damn, now I'm missing the fact I won't be camping out this year 🙁

Wow. No one is going to go "Gee, I just can't figure out how to swipe up. I'm going to return this incredible phone because I'm just too dumb to master the simplest of gestures!"

90% of the navigation is the same. There's only a couple of differences, they're easily explained and easily mastered.

I can also guarantee you the reps at the store will show people how to get around the changes if they're not already familiar with it. Every year I've picked up a phone, they ask if I'm familiar with whatever the new UI changing might be that year (eg. TouchID, 3D Touch, etc).

Most people who buy this phone won't be shocked when they open the box and see the phone doesn't have a home button. Unless you're an idiot you will know what your're buying.

In New York this is not the case I am afraid. Apple has found a way to marginalize normal people willing to stand-in line for a phone for the mafia milking the black market. It all went downhill with the iPad 2 and Apple's stupid rule of 2 devices per customer. The average fan waking up at 5am on launch day doesn't stand a chance against this well oiled machine where they start days in advance, rotate in and out, and then immediately go straight to the back of the line after making their purchases.

How is a 2 device per person limit a marginalization? And how is Apple responsible for the quality of person standing in line?

Because if they limited a day one walk-in to 1 device per person, then you have double the amount of inventory available for others. Most genuine customers looking for a device for themselves are only looking for a single device. By allowing 2 per person per transaction, then you are enabling scalpers no?

If I stand in-line tomorrow night/Fri am, and there are 30 people in front of me, thats actually 60 phones before I get to mine. Just doesn't seem fair to me. What about the folks that woke up a little late at 12:30am last week, and have another 2 weeks to wait. A walk-in gets 2 phones whilst others who woke up early have to wait?

This phone comes with a user guide This time around talking about the new gestures. Plenty of people will read the instructions and foguring our how to do the gestures lowering the return rate of the phone.
