Do you know how many people will actually get confused when they open the box and begin playing with the phone and have no idea how to navigate around the phone or how to get home...lol?

0%. This will happen to 0% of people. None percent of people will have no idea how to get home or navigate. It might not be an experience they want and I’m sure some will decide to return it, but nothing like you’re calling for. We as a society have been using touch based input for long enough now that it’s not going to take long for people to find their way around these things. They might not know all the ins and outs or each “secret” gesture, but the basics will be just fine.

My two year old can navigate an iPhone without needing a lesson.

Because if they limited a day one walk-in to 1 device per person, then you have double the amount of inventory available for others. Most genuine customers looking for a device for themselves are only looking for a single device. By allowing 2 per person per transaction, then you are enabling scalpers no?

If I stand in-line tomorrow night/Fri am, and there are 30 people in front of me, thats actually 60 phones before I get to mine. Just doesn't seem fair to me. What about the folks that woke up a little late at 12:30am last week, and have another 2 weeks to wait. A walk-in gets 2 phones whilst others who woke up early have to wait?

Most times I've waited in line I was purchasing a phone for myself and my wife. The 2-device limit was good for me. One time I was getting phones for myself, my wife, and my two kids. In that case, my daughter came with me so we could satisfy the 2-device limit.

Scalpers, I'm sure, would love a no-device limit, or something much higher than 2. 🙂

Granted, there will be no perfect solution, but I don't think 2 devices is that unreasonable.

When you have so many people standing in line, I just do think 2 devices is unreasonable. Why does your wife get preference over the person standing in position #101 who misses out on a phone because there was only 200 in stock when he was out in the cold for hours and your wife sleeping in bed. Just rubs me the wrong way. If your wife wants the phone, then she should stand-in line with you. Just my opinion

She has medical conditions that don’t allow for that, for one.

I always wonder what people do for work that can afford to wait for 3 days in line for a phone.

Well, some of them may be retired. Some, may have accrued vacation time. Some, might have caught the Apple flu and called in sick. Some, may be unemployed but able to financially sustain themselves.

You may never know someone’s story . . . Unless they tell you. 😉

In New York this is not the case I am afraid. Apple has found a way to marginalize normal people willing to stand-in line for a phone for the mafia milking the black market. It all went downhill with the iPad 2 and Apple's stupid rule of 2 devices per customer. The average fan waking up at 5am on launch day doesn't stand a chance against this well oiled machine where they start days in advance, rotate in and out, and then immediately go straight to the back of the line after making their purchases.
See this in Boston too. One person with a prepaid credit card hopping between tables to pay. A runner tossing the phones into a backback and out to a car somewhere and the people who were in line going straight to the back of the line immediately after.

This phone comes with a user guide This time around talking about the new gestures. Plenty of people will read the instructions and foguring our how to do the gestures lowering the return rate of the phone.

I'm willing to think most will revert to YouTube or some video to show how to use the gesture controls versus reading the actual literature that comes with the iPhone. That's just the world we live in now, where everything is reverting to online for tutorials and tips or tricks.

When the 8/AW3 came out, I was number 10 in line. There was a 9-member Asian family in front of me, and can you guess who was behind me...the 10th person. They would go inside, pick up their 2, through It in a backpack and get right back in line.

I am confused. I thought Apple Stores were going to have very limited stock, yet I see these pictures of 50+ people lining up. How many of these people will actually get one? I was under the impression no single store would have more than maybe 10 at the maximum.

No one knows how many they will have, but extremely likely Apple stores have more then 10.

Apple sent out a memo telling people to arrive early in store, contradicting the “order online”.

The telcos here in Australia say they will have a few hundred iPhone Xs available (each telco, ~600 in total) for walk in across our city.

Jb HiFi apparently more than a hundred across their stores in this city.

Obviously Apple will have more than that. Probably 300-500 at the flagship store.

Isn't the 5th Ave NY store considered the USA flagship store (or maybe it is just NY)? I would guess they would get thousands of phones.

We will start to see more iPhone X videos from people reviewing it from Asia or Australia. They are getting their's now.

Lines are going to be INSANE tomorrow. Thank goodness I got a pre-order. It's all up to Best Buy notifying us. I will still show up at 10am tomorrow whether I get an email or not.
