Wow, INNOVATION.

How about a freakin adjustable brightness or colours for the nightstand mode? I have mine close to my bed in order to be able to tap the night stand, and man it's blinding. And this is on the first gen watch, i can imagine the 2nd gen is worse since its got a brighter screen.

No. Innovation and adjustments or two different things.

Innovation has nothing to do with adjusting a feature. Innovation has everything to do with inventing something new or being creative. So in your case, you're asking for a setting to adjust the brightness, that would be implemented through an update.

Amazing it took til version 3.1.3 to even include this feature, Android's had this from the start and can't imagine how annoying it must be to have the thing light up all the time.

Android wear 2.0 coming out next month is going to be raising the bar for Apple again by the look of it so will be interesting to see what new features they bring to keep these guys up to date.

Time to face facts. Dark Mode isn't coming, at least not until the new OLED iPhones are ready. Look for it possibly in iOS 11 and it will be an exclusive feature of the new iPhone 8.

It hasn't really been an issue for me personally. While it seems like it could be really annoying, it's really not because the screen only wakes to a specific motion, i.e. turning wrist toward your face. Just moving my arm from the arm rest to my face or getting popcorn/taking a drink doesn't wake it. Just my 2 cents. Still agree that it's a somewhat useful feature though.

If a Dark Mode eventually exists—exclusively for iPhone 8, I will be a very pissed Apple fanboy...
It'll be one of those situations where they'll go out of their way to develop technology like "3d touch" to sell a phone, like long presses haven't been on Android since forever.

Hilarious, a "theater" mode on the failing iWatch.
Why? Are people watching movies on the iWatch simply because it is an Apple product?
(like middle aged white men now suddenly listen to, enjoy, and defend, rap and hip hop "music"... simply because it is the "Apple-thing" to do).

Oh well, at least this ensures job security for eye doctors...
Reading comprehension may not be your strong suit.

Isn't that how they measure heart rate, measuring the oxygen in the blood, to measure flow and therefore HR?

Nope, pulse rates are calculated by constantly measuring the volume of blood, not the oxygen level.

There's also a sensor build into the first generation of the Apple Watch models, that is capable of reading the oxygen level in your blood, it is also not activated, it's cool to have tho ;p

Not sure iFixit was right about that. The Apple Watch has green and IR LEDs, but no red.

Green+IR is usually used for measuring volume (pulse) on a wrist.

Red+IR is usually what is used for reading oxygen levels.

That said, anything is possible.

Personally, I think disable raise to wake should be part of do not disturb. I have mine scheduled for 11pm to 7:30am.

From the article, this is theatre mode, not being able to watch movies on your watch:
The most important new feature is a "Theater Mode" that's designed to let customers quickly mute the sound on their Apple Watch and disable raise to wake, preventing the screen from lighting up with arm movement.

Next update needs a way to change the Time Travel interval. Scrolling 1 minute at a time is so slow it is worthless. Should be able to choose 1 mins, 5, 15, 30, 1hr...

so, it's hard to measure blood flow, but I thought the technology was to SEE the oxygen IN the blood and measure that pace.. can you link to any further technical analysis of this?

Yeah I found a simple site this morning; trying to find it again. In the meantime, here's too much info:

https://www.howequipmentworks.com/pulse_oximeter/

Search it for "pleth" which is the volume (pulse) measure. A device has to know the instant blood volume first so that it can calculate the actual instant oxygen level from the ever changing amount of blood being checked.

Pulse and oxygen are easy and accurate to measure at a fine point arterial location like the tip of your finger. It is much harder to do it accurately at the wrist because that is using capillaries with a more broad, smoothed out flow.

To make matters worse, the wrist also has blood motion artifacts, where moving your arm changes the volume of blood in that area. All this is why wrist monitors are inaccurate above about 120 bpm or if you're moving your arms in exercise. Been a lot of research for years trying to solve that.

The "Wake Screen on Wrist Raise" ON/OFF control panel is only three levels deep (Settings/General/Wake Screen).
Actually more than three, since (chances are) you’ll need to leave the clock face, then go to Settings.
I use the "Wake Screen on Wrist Raise" ON/OFF control panel frequently, so in my case it is only two steps to get to that control panel. I push the side button to bring up the dock and tap the screen which is already showing the correct control panel since it is the only one I regularly use.

How anyone translated "Theatre Mode" into "Dark Mode" is beyond me.
Because some people are just so desperate for an interface that's scientifically proven to be hard on the eyes that they'll believe that every and anything reported by MacRumors is a sign of dark mode.
